  1. I can't be a V5 tester. I bought one two weeks ago and I'm in love !!
  2. Wow--I am a Shotscope convert !! Just purchased and have played two rounds with the 2024 V5 Watch. Smaller sensors than Arccos, no need for an additional "link" or cellphone in proximity, attractive easy to wear and navigate watch, NO MONTHLY OR YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION !! Fast GPS (as opposed to Garmin which takes a lifetime to find satellites and often loses contact and gets "lost"). Great price: $249 USD. Accurate shot tracking--I chose to manually enter putts--simple to select with single button click standing over hole and editable post round as needed including pin locations. I prefer to edit on my home PC post round which takes a little practice and familiarization, but in the end is robust and fairly simple, including adding penalty strokes etc...can even add entirely missed holes. And-- this is a good time to review the round and analytics instead of messing around during play. Graphics and information on watch are superb, and scrolling with easy to access buttons is far superior to touchscreens. Screens show usual front/middle/back distances, "flyover" hole view, distance and carry for hazards, on-the fly last shot length. Useful impressive flexible analytics customizable to user. In short, I am "sold". My only beef is the Putter Connexic sensor tab which cannot screw into Superstroke grips with a threaded end port--they are working on this problem, but one can cut off the threaded screw and attach with adhesive (superglue) or, they sell an adhesive backed Putter sensor (or switch back to a palatable conventional grip as I did) . Online communication with Shotscope indicates they are working on this problem and may have a special screw-in sensor compatible with Superstroke grips.
  3. Hadn't thought about MacGregor Golf for years-but just saw an ad for some GORGEOUS irons that appear to be sold DTC. Anyone have a review or any experience with these new offerings ?
  4. TM MG3 and 4, TW editions. Unbelievable control and spin
  5. Grooveit Mini G Brush--after each shot wet towel and magnetically attached tiny MiniG brush: magic ! Like having a tour caddie on your bag.
  6. The best looking, best gripping, and most comfortable golf shoe made is the TRUE Lux Hybrid. Period. End of discussion. Great for on or off course, nice wide toe box, terrific customer support and return policy if you have a problem.
  7. Iomic Stickies for optimum looks (multiple colors offered), feel, and performance in ALL weather conditions. Been using them for years. Nothing else compares.
  8. MNML V2 (with custom hand painted logoing if desired) and Tech package--solar charger for accessories such as cell phone and included compact Bluetooth speaker. ALL magnetic pocket closures including convenient "coal chute" ball pocket. Supplied straps adaptable for either double or single strap (caddie) mode. Full length compartment dividers. Definitely roomier than my Titleist Player 4, weight about the same. Versatile, fills the bill as stand carry bag, push cart, or golf cart duty. Also, will give you generous $ credit if you send back your "old" bag in their prepaid return shipping carton. Check out their website and YouTube videos .
  9. Go to untouchable is my 2011 Big Bertha V-Series Heavenwood (20.5 degrees w/Bassara R shaft). Throws darts at the pin from 170-180 yards off the ground or off the tee!
  10. My coach suggested these fixes for me when I started to get a little "toey": 1. Move 1-2 ball diameters closer to the ball (ie just a bit) 2. place a gate of two tees 1-2" outside both sides of the ball and make sure your path and contact stays between the tees. Low point of your swing should be 1-3" past the ball with irons and hybrids. As you get more precise you can bring the tees closer to the ball. 3. stack a bit more weight on your left side during early transition and downswing ("heart to the ball"), make sure you "squat" into the ball to shallow the club and increase right side bend, then simply rotate thru the ball and do not come up out of your posture until after contact. 4. make sure your alignment is square or a little closed
  11. In the early 2000's my wife and I were visiting our daughter during her semester abroad in Brighton England. We had planned to travel on to Paris for four "romantic" days, but widespread rioting over a government labor law related vote necessitated that we quickly change our plans and avoid France. We decided to catch a Ryan Air flight to Dublin and return home from there. Then came the dilemma-where to stay in Dublin ? My wife announced that she had found a charming boutique hotel about 20 min. outside the city on the coast called The Portmarnock Hotel, and didn't I want to stay there instead of in central Dublin proper ?? Knowing full well that this was the location of the famous Portmarnock Club and also Portmarnock Hotel Links, I stated that I firmly wanted to stay in downtown Dublin for the sightseeing convenience. After a few hours, enough time for me to call the Portmarnock Club and secure a tee time, I informed my deeply grateful wife that after much consideration, I had a change of heart, would acquiesce to her wishes , and that staying at The Portmarnock Hotel would be ok after all . To this day, she still believes I changed my mind because she wanted to stay there ! I am smart enough not to spoil the illusion ! ( As an aside, I should mention that the Portmarnock Hotel has a spectacular location on the coast. In a prior life it was the Jamieson Whisky family manor. Dining , location, and accommodations are deluxe. The Hotel Links, which I played on a subsequent trip to Ireland, designed by Bernhard Lander and a friend of mine, Britt Stenson of IMG sports, is almost the equal of the older more famous Portmarnock Club, and is definitely worth a round. Picturesque Malahide and it's shops and small harbor, access point to the increasingly popular Island Course is only a 30 min. walk or 10 min. cab ride up the coast as well )
  12. kind of switch around--MNML V2, Player 4 Team Titleist, Player 4 Titleist The OPEN Special, or MacKenzie Original Walker (I Have 2-one nylon, one custom leather)
  13. Playing high school golf in late 1960's greater Chicagoland was highly competitive. My school, New Trier West was lucky enough to get previous years Illinois State Mens Champ Lee Gurley on our team as a geographic school transfer. Suffice it to say, Lee was a terrific player and additionally quite sarcastic, cocky, and intimidating. In a regional finals match I was playing #2 position with Lee in #1 position against arch rival Glenbrook North. Both Lee and his opponent had 6 footers for par on the first hole--his opponent then says: "Good Good"?? Without missing a beat Lee responds: "Not Bad, Not Bad", and laughing hysterically, almost in tears, steps up quickly and drains his putt. His opponent misses. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day--we both won our matches
