  1. Are you losing distance or do you have a shot shape you don't like? If neither answer is yes, then don't worry about it. Otherwise try working on your flexibility with yoga general stretching.
  2. I've got some ideas for a couple 36 hole, 1 day trips.
  3. I think I'll make a post and @ you. I want to post pictures.
  4. I found a course where all summer I can usually be the first one out both Sat & Sun. And it's only about a 25 min drive. Guess I'm lucky with just a bunch of lazy people around here. I also have a talk with my wife each week. I don't care when I play as long as I get too. Early mornings work best, but this year I've ended up with some late afternoon Saturday rounds cause that's what worked best for her.
  5. @MaxEntropy that course looks awesome. Need to get a buddy and go check it out.
  6. Finally got to play CAPITAL G G-O-L-F for the first time in 3 weeks. No fat shots, no flooded fairways, yes it's still soft, but I could hit down on the ball and get the shot I expected. 79 with 1 birdie. Had a few wild shots but this was kind of a recalibration round. Going back for more tomorrow.
  7. Nah, I stopped using them when the deals dried up. Nearly every course near me has a website I can book through and get the same prices as Golf Now or the others. Less hassle and if there's a problem I can talk to the course.
  8. That's why I tee off at sun up on weekends. Back home by 10.
  9. This is interesting, even being in my 30s I was a MacGregor kid. Driver: Golf works, MacGregor (Vfoil) Cobra, Titleist Fairway: Golf Works, Cobra, Titleist Hybrid: Adams Irons: MacGregor (Muirfield 20th Anny), TaylorMade, Titleist Wedges: MacGregor, Cleveland, Titleist Putter: Bullseye, TaylorMade, Zebra, Odyssey
  10. My home course actually has several holes I don't hit driver on. #7 390/4 I hit driver here too, but anything over 260 falls into a valley that is one of the wettest spots on the course. I'll hit 3W if there's been a lot of rain. #9 450/5 it's downhill 250 to a lake, can't hit driver. Usually hybrid or 4i to stay short and in the fairway. #10 365/4 usually a 4i as it's a sharp dogleg left, so the hole plays much shorter then the yardage. Driver landing zone doesn't exist. #12 410/4 Driver landing zone is maybe 20 yards wide with red left and OB right. Even being in the wrong spot in the fairway can have you blocked from the green. I hit 3W #14 330/4 the hole is split in half by a creek and all the trouble is if you take on the other side. I hit 2 8i #15 540/5 hazards line both sides of this hole and a driver would be a draw over trees to a blind landing zone. I can't hit a controlled fade so driver stays away. I hit a hybrid to find the fairway.
  11. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to go that route. Though Sky track is probably out of the price range
  12. That's awesome. Gonna keep this in mind when my little one is old enough.
  13. Oh I agree, and this was in Arizona too so should be some roll out too. And distance would be the normal white tees here in NE Ohio. There's probably less than a handful over 7k and I'd say on average most courses top out at 66-6700. I don't think that yardage would effect Bubba's score.
  14. Oh I'm sure. Bubba's getting older but I still think he's still got plenty of distance. I think anything under 350 he's basically pitching it in there close.
  15. Memorial Park is PGA stop right? I'd play it if I'm ever in Houston.
  16. Golf courses need dogs. My favorite course always has at least two mutts hanging around the club house. At my home course the supers yellow lab is always running around. Even the CC I caddied at the super had a black lab that roamed the property with him. And I don't mind anyone bringing their dog out. Actually, what a great playing partner. Quiet and attentive, just happy to be with you.
  17. I'm in a similar boat so gonna follow this. I've been looking at changing the season pass from my home course. Problem I have is that there's a considerable jump in cost. I pay $650 and the next cheapest is about $1000 more. Most of the other courses also require carts, whereas I almost always walk. The least expensive CC is pushing $4k so there's just no way to afford that now. Plus I'm not looking forward to paying dues from Nov-Feb when the course is closed.
  18. Here's the guy we needed. Thanks Dave!
  19. A cart path is a permanent obstruction too, and we are allowed free relief from that. I'm not the absolute rules expert, but I think the only man-made obstruction, permanent or temporary, that one does not provide free relief is a fence denoting out of bounds. Maybe the road hole wall fits into this category.
  20. Did anyone else see this YouTube video posted yesterday? Golf Digest took Bubba Watson to a 6100 yard country club in Arizona. They refer to it as a muni, but it's not. Also that designation isn't important. I think what is important is, this answers a question about "What would a pro shoot at our course?" debate. Check it out if you want. Spoiler: He shot a 62, with 2 bogeys. I've felt this is in the realm of a low round for a pro on our courses. Especially from the whites, they are going to reach all the par 5s in 2, so they are at 68 or 67 in a blink. They will probably have a few more birdies just by virtue of the sub-350 yard par 4s. If they nail the speed of the greens, a low 60s rounds like this is unsurprising to me. Check it out and have fun.
  21. I remember those. This was at the same time before they figured out graphite shafts. Everything was super whippy, X flex wasn't popular, and drivers had 6* or 7* loft to try and mitigate spin. I remember caddying and watching watching all these younger guys just spray everything. That's why we went with titanium shaft. They're just too heavy anymore. I've got a 70g X in my current driver.
  22. I am in a similar situation. Though I am actually just thinking of going simple and just tracking long game strokes and short game strokes. I'd call short have anything inside 40 yards. Just to get a feel for where I am dropping shots.
