  1. I would have loved that but it was the same week as the PNW play along.. so I thought you and others might be a little busy.. I have not Played Latah Creek (Hangman), I have played The Creek at Qualchan, what a great course.. 4 of us would take a trip each spring to play Coeur D' Alene and play 1 of the Spokane courses, since they used to be pretty cheap and always in great shape.. we played Coeur D' Alene and Circling Raven each a few times, and then The Creek at Qualchan, Esmerelda, and Indian Canyon. Our last trip we got in Gamble Sands, Bear Mountian Ranch, Highlander, and Desert Canyon.. Since then My FIL, and His best friend have both lost significant eyesight and being in their 70's and 80's have almost all but given up golf.. My FIL, still has his certificate for Paring the Floating green hanging in his workshop..
  2. Just got back from a weeks vacation with the Family to Chelan, WA. Was unable to get away to go hang out with other Spy's but did get in 2 rounds.. Played Bear Mountain Ranch in Chelan on Monday the 18th. Played a good front 9 with a few missed opportunities. Hit Sand traps on all but 4 holes. Was very disappointed, $100 for a Monday morning round course was in good shape not great shape, and most of the traps had Very little sand ( less than 1/2 inch ) and the sand looked like it had not been maintained ( compact, with water trails running through it).. Shot a 48/56 back nine ate me up. then on Wed the 20th we played Chelan Municipal course, This course was in better shape (IMO) and was $59 + cart for $16. Struggled all round but did not give a darn, on vacation LOL.. the course had a tournament coming the next weekend so hole location were Brutal. 1st hole stuck it 2 ft past and 6 ft left of the hole Hit a good putt missed it by 1/2" and rolled off the front of the green 2nd putt was 6" short coming back up and again rolled off.. Every pin was on the edge or right by a drop off.. did not keep score, Son did so i did not know where i stood, ended up carding a 102.. but played with Son and Grandson.. it was fantastic.. the diabolical 12 at chelan, was pretty decent.. green was wet so Putts at least stayed on the green.. Had an amazing week now back to reality..
  3. In My house it means I'm in trouble.. .LOL
  4. I think I'll be playing them for a little while to see how I like them and if it helps or hinders, and make a decision at that point.. Thanks
  5. Thanks I'll give that a try to see if it helps..
  6. How will the heavier swing weight effect my consistency and distance.. I noticed I was more inconsistent than usual and also not as long, but i chocked that up to mid 90s heat and a few beers (which I know i get careless with my swing after a few). I'm guessing the heavier weight would slow down my swing but should also make my contact more consistent... or is it that my timing is now off and I need to either add weight or adjust myself??
  7. I replaced the grips on my clubs. I have Cobra F8's and love them. They had Lamkin REL's with Arccos in the grips. I changed to Non Arccos grips. while playing this last weekend they felt off. Head felt heavier, I did my research Lamkin REL's weigh 52g.. I did not take into account the Arccos, the Lamkin grips with Arccos come in at 65g. I know the extra weight from the Arccos grips will effect swing weight, But how much now that I do not have them?? Cobra F8's with Steel shafts should be D1, I love them but now they feel Way to heavy.. How much did I change the swing weight and is there an easy fix?? @McGolf, any thoughts, or Help.. Thanks
  8. @ChuckZ, when I was in Charleston several yrs ago I played Patriots Point.. Had a great time, had to rent clubs and all.. the Gentleman I was playing with kept warning me to watch out for Gators... OK.. lol.. Also Visited FireFly distillery on Johns Island I think.. great place... Enjoyed my time there..
  9. @Kenny B, Thanks for the reminder.. LOL.. It did not show low battery, the indicator still showed full battery... But after battery change it is working. I did have to reset the settings, since it reverted to >150yds so that took a little to figure out, since it's 15 yrs old WHY would you keep the instructions..
  10. I am not Against it in the least.. Just posing the question. And to Clarify the course did have 150 poles, but also had a lot of blind or at least Hidden hazards..
  11. Touche'.. I do not still use a map on road trips.. But I do still use one while hunting.. Seriously though, I felt lost. there are several courses I play that I know what club to hit based on where I sit.. but this time I did not have anything to go off of.. not even a sprinkler head.. WE are so dependent on technology and electronics that we forget how to do things when we no longer have them.. My daughter did not learn Cursive writing, why because it is no longer a priority.. Which to me is a shame..
  12. Playing Last Sat. on a course I've played a few times before so I knew the course, but not enough to know my distances to specific places, lay-up areas, hazards, ect.. Midway through the round my range finder ( Bushnell yardage Pro, about 15 yrs old.) dies. I hope it's just the battery, but not sure yet.. I felt lost. I had to "eyeball" the distances (NO distances on sprinkler heads or other markers on the course), which got me thinking are we too reliant on our technology, Electronics (no i do not want to go back to wound balls and hickory sticks No offense @BIG STU)? We go to the course with a rangefinder, GPS, and our PHONES.. As hectic as it was trying to choose clubs and shots.. I kinda enjoyed going through the process of analyzing the shot, figuring out the yardage, what shot to hit ect... Have we as golfers lost some of the gamesmanship that is golf due to technology and the drive to get lower scores while losing the skill to beat the course as the game was designed?? I hope this all makes sense, in my head it does but then again it might sound like the ramblings of a 5 yr old to everyone else.. Thanks..
  13. Aright Played Sat. with My Son, Grandson, and a family Friend.. Played Echo Falls outside of Seattle. It was wet, heavy drizzle for about 4 holes... Yes it is Western Washington and Yes it does rain.. LOL.. Course was super sloppy.. a few places either take relief from standing water, also several places the ground was so wet it still qualified as standing water but no place else to get relief from.. I shot a 92 46/46, not bad considering conditions, Son shot a 91 51/40.. Errr he beat me but had a amazing back 9... Grandson, drumroll...... Broke 100 for his first time.. shot a 98.. Kept his cool which is something he has had to really work on. he would get mad a at a bad shot and ruin his hole which in turn would blow his round.. he stayed calm and played great.. I had an amazing round with my boys.. got home and my Daughter had made me Chocolate Chip cookies.. Spent some great time with her.. Could not have had a better " Fathers Day"..
  14. I have direct TV, In the Seattle area it was on the Network Channel, so I DVR'd it while at work and watched it when i got home.. have all 4 rounds scheduled to record.. ON a side note.. Has Time caught up with Phil? I just checked and he is +11 through 9 today.. Maybe the LIV is his last ditch effort to Play competitive golf... Just saying.. or is he just rusty??
  15. @ChitownM2, At least check it out.. it might be worth it for you... $5 is better then even Jr. rates at every place I play..
  16. There is 55 courses in our area involved.. 9 quality courses within 30-40 min of where we live, and I have played them all multiple times. Thought I'd throw it out as other may not have heard about it. for $5 to play I think I can afford to play more with him..
  17. My Grandson @Blakedagolfer, just joined. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this program? @Golfspy_CG2, Maybe you know about it, if I remember don't you work with the First Tee?? Wondering if they give discounts to the adults bringing the Youth Golfer? Do course's not listed Honor it?? Just any general information would be great.. Basically Kids sign up ($20 yr.) and golf at participating courses if $5, some are just 9 holes others have specific times ect.. they appear to have some great course's (i.e. Chambers Bay, Gold Mountain, and More).. I am located in Washington, but they appear to have associated courses all over the country. @GolfSpy MPR might save you some money dragging Kirke around.. LOL Here is the Link if anybody is interested, it is for golfer 6-18. https://youthoncourse.org/play/
  18. Several years ago, was teeing off, had about 50 yds of sagebrush to clear to get to the fairway, did not realize just as i started my backswing a crow landed on the top of a big sagebrush that was in direct line with the fairway, hit a beautiful low drive that was going to go for miles, Until it center punched this crow, literally feathers flying and a loud squawk ( think Randy Johnson hitting pidgeon).. it took off and flew off towards the desert and fell out of the sky... Damn Bird.. Now I'm hitting 2 from the middle of the crap.. needless to say had to take a lost ball and re-tee'd, ruined a good back nine..
  19. @Thin2win I feel your pain.. OK, How have i not seen this post earlier.. I have 2 that still haunt me to this day. The first came in the early 2000's probably 2002 I think.. we were playing in Eastern Washington ( both of these were on that side of the state) at a course in Bridgeport that has since closed. Early morning so there was dew still on the greens.. I think it was about 160, I hit a 7 iron, landed on the front and rolled past the cup. We thought it was a good shot but could barely see the ball. as we get to the green you could see the track of the ball it had rolled over the edge of the cup and stopped 6" directly behind it.. tap in birdie.. the 2nd we were playing At Crescent Bar, Having a great time Get to #5 Par 3 at the back of the course. plays 130- 150 depending on the pin.. for Me it was an 8 iron, I've played it at least 100 times.. I'm playing with my best friend his girlfriend and my wife. Been playing with Jim for 25 yrs.. I hit a absolutely gorgeous shot, on a rope to the hole.. Thwack, Hit's the Flag about 3-4" above the hole, ricochets off Leave a ball mark on the edge of the hole deep enough to hit the plastic inside and shoot off the front into the bunker. I had to rebuild the lip of the hole the ball mark was so deep.. Needless to say I drank alot after that one.. LOL Jim- now he has had 2, as any good friend will do he does not let e forget it either.. what an A-hole..
  20. IMO.. After reading Jay Monahan's statement, TO me.. It made the tour sound petty, the old I'm taking my ball and going home, type of statement. I hope the players take the money and run all the way to the bank. I also think the LIV will go the way XFL did, create some buzz have a couple of good tourney's, do to curiosity, and fizzle out. Let them spend their money like crazy and when they realize it's never going to be What the PGA and R & A are it will become nothing more than a footnote in Golfing history. Jay Monahan should have had more trust and respect for the Tour, it's Sponsors, and fans, and let the superior product do his talking. Acknowledge them but do not give in, stand proud and be the bigger man. If someone like Phil or G Mac, toward the end of their career can make enough money for 8 tournaments set up his kids for the rest of their Lives, I would probably do the same.. That's my $.02 worth for what it's worth.
  21. @Thin2win, @Kenny B, play Lake Chelan last summer.. Love the course except for a 18.. #12 is still sloped severely, and the green was really fast and dry.. to top it off the Hole was cut upper Left corner, if you missed the putt it rolled of the left side.. NOONE in our group of 8 golfers got better then a bogey. and the lone bogey was a hail mary from the front of the green up the hill that died into the front of the cup.. 8 golfer, 1 bogey and we had 2 players that were single/ low double digit Handicaps players.. and the bogey came from a guy who shot over 100.. But we still had a blast...
  22. Grandson (15 yr old) Broke the Shaft on the Ping G30 driver I gave him.. Flush with the adapter. Pretty sure he Nailed one off the shaft as his other driver ( Taylor Made R9 super Tri) had a broken adapter also.. After our last time golfing I grabbed it and took it home to see what I could do.. I grabbed a 7/16 Lag bolt and as I heated the adapter head (which is Aluminum I think) I threaded the lag bolt in with a socket while pulling on it slightly. Took a few minutes but when the glue released broken shaft pulled out clean as can be.. Cleaned up the hosel with a little sandpaper and Isopropyl Alcohol trimmed the shaft and reinstalled it. Complete project 35 min start to finish. Lost about .75 inches in length but he loves it.. Should also help keep him in the fairway as it stiffer and shorter..
  23. Not today but Sunday morning.. Wife said to go as she hurt her back.. So go i did.. get to the course cool overcast light breeze.. Starter tells me go off the back there is no-one out there and I'll be able to play quicker, and he'll fit me in when i come around.. perfect.. complete the 1st 9 ( the back) in 1 hour... shooting a 40, nice.. wind has picked up.. play the front 9 with a twosome.. shoot a 42. for a 82. Played well got done in 2:45min.. what a great way to start my day.. LOL
