  2. I thought the same thing - especially when the irons are actually 4 yards longer. I've always felt the TP5X was a bit of a longer ball anyways - especially with irons, so this matches up with that. I don't do any sort of measuring with most drives so it's difficult for me to tell if I'm longer/shorter with the driver, but with irons you clearly know the yardage into a green.
  3. Extremely well said! I think this is true for most. You might narrow down short game errors into more specific categories to help improve ie putting, sand shots, chips, or pitches to really hone in on what could be a factor. I'd have the same list, but it would likely flip flop #1 and #3.
  4. After (finally) getting into the report I can now understand why MGS was putting teasers out there for so long. I think this will be one of the tests that we frequently go back to and remember throughout this entire year and for me, probably the next couple years. I've always been a huge fan of Taylormade golf balls all the way back to the red/black LDP's, however I tend to get a lot of company logo pro V1 balls for free so I often times I'm using those. I'm normally in rotation of Pro V1's, Nike Rzn Tour Blacks, and TP5/TP5X. These are the balls that for some reason or another instill a confidence when I tee them up so I continue to play them. I can understand what some are saying about the swing speeds having a large discrepancy, but for me it works well as my driver swing is 113 - 115, although I'm sure I have a different AoA and a fade rather than a draw so it's certainly going to be different. To be fair the TP5X performed well in the test for the most part and has the height that I look for and the Titleist balls show why they are continually the #1 ball on tour, but from what I am seeing with the Snell MTB X, it seems worthwhile to give them a try at $30! And maybe next time, our company orders golf balls, I'll suggest the Bridgestone Tour B X.
  5. Same issues on my computer - showing that the site is unable to respond and load.
  6. SOLD!! Bought recently and just do not need this right now. Hardly used and very well cared for. Looking for $250. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. The wife got me a like new SC200 launch monitor for a Birthday/Fathers day gift. Not sure how much I'll use it over the summer, but will get a lot of use over the winter months.
  8. Went to the practice green after work to chip and putt. Concentrated on around the world drill from 3 - 5 ft with putting and the ladder drill. Also tried to get a feel for how far I need to take the putter back to consistently putt 30 or 40 ft. Lastly really get my ball started on my intended line. If I misread a putt, that's one thing, but many times during my last couple rounds, I found myself pulling or pushing putts.
  9. I have been able to get a couple rounds under my belt with my new TS3 and so far this has been great. Hitting many more fairways that I have in a long time and really being able to control my ball much more. Getting my confidence back in my driver so that I can take more advantage of my length. It's a lot more fun playing from the fairway. Also, I've noticed that my distance dispersion has gotten better as well. With my old Taylormade M2, I could be anywhere from 265 to 315 when I really bomb one. Now, it seems like I have a tighter window and can rely on a solid 255 carry and get anywhere from 280 - 295 on most drives. Some of this is a properly fitted shaft as well and I have felt very comfortable with my Fujikura Pro 2.0 Tour Spec.
  10. Played a couple rounds at Bandon Dunes golf resort earlier this week. The first round was at Pacific Dunes and it was about 50* with wet conditions and was still raining off an on most of the round and about 15 mph of wind. It was certainly a tale of two nines as I ended up going 45 on the front and 34 on the back for a 79 on a par 71. Second day, I played Bandon Dunes course with about 10 - 15 mph wind most of the day and probably 55* but sunny to partly cloudy most of the day! Was fairly consistent most of the day except for a few weak approach shots and chips, not to mention putting not stellar. However, was able to play a 40 on the front and 38 on the back for a 78 on a par 72. My first time playing any golf on the west coast and I really enjoyed it. Certainly a much different view and courses than I find in the midwest where I play most of my golf. Off to a pretty good start for the year and trending in the right direction.
  11. Just got back from a great trip to Bandon Dunes.

  13. Been on vacation for the last 4 days with my family and a few days left. Certainly eating out more and not quite as well as I normally would, but proud that I am still taking the time to work out and haven't gone completely off track with my diet. Have ran about 9 miles and just lifted some weights. Good luck to everyone as they keep going into the warmer months.
  14. I was able to play today in Hilton Head at Palmetto Plantation Arthur Hills course from the Gold tees (73.8 and 139 slope - 6918 yds). Weather was great - about 65 on the first 9 and low 70's on the second with around 10 mph winds. Shot of the day was a sawed off 2 hybrid from 226 that was into the wind so I played it about 240 with a low cut and ended up 8 feet from the hole, downfall was that I missed the putt! Had a couple errant tee shots, but overall was very pleased with my round and like how I'm scoring so far this year. Round Score - 75 (1 Double, 4 Bogeys, 3 Birdies - 39/36) Fairways - 9/14 Greens - 11/18 Putts - 30 (1 Three putt on a very tricky green with large hills/slopes all around the pin)
  15. Was hoping to play the back nine at my local course since I played the front 9 on Saturday, but there was a foursome on the tee at 10 and they were waiting for a threesome that was on the fairway. Oh well - front 9 take 2. Played another solid round, but putting is still giving me issues. Ready for the conditions to be more up to par, but it will just take some time as the course hasn't been open very long this year. Played about 15 mph of wind for the 9 and was extremely happy with my ball striking from the fairway and the greens. I only missed two greens in reg and one was due to a chipout from a bad tee shot with my 2H (got a bit too quick on my swing) and the other because I was heavily into wind and caused the ball to spin back quite a bit and just on the front of the green. Stats are below. Round Score - 36 (2 birdies and 2 bogeys) Fairways - 6/7 Greens - 7/9 Putts - 17 and zero three putts, but also only one 1 putt Takeaway from the first 2 nines I've played is that I could really use a putting lesson. Part of it is the condition of the greens, but if you put this 9 together with the one Saturday it comes out to a 73 with 9/14 fairways, 15/18 greens, and 37 putts. My proximity to hole was actually pretty good for both days and I had about 9 looks at birdie 14 feet and closer and a few of my bogeys came from missed 4-5 footers.
  16. I was able to sneak away for 9 holes on Saturday. I had to find a babysitter while my wife was working and they only had a couple hours so hence I only played 9. One of the best days we've had so far, about 55* sunny and little to no wind. I struck the ball pretty well, but could not putt to save my life. With the greens being longer and not rolling that smooth, I had a lot of difficulty getting the speed right. The only tees available were the white, so it only played 3200 yards. I was able to hit both par 5's in two, but only came away with one birdie. As you can see below I hit the ball well and hit a lot of greens, but putted atrociously. I'm trying not to get down because much of that was because I did not hit any practice putts and the green speed was different from hole to hole with plenty of bumps along the way. Stats Round score - 37 Fairways - 3/7 (2 additional just off fairway and no tee shot hurt me) Greens - 8/9 Putts - 20!!!! (Two 3 putts and the rest 2 putts)
  17. Chasing Scratch is coming back for it's second season on April 17th. If you've not listened to this, do yourself a favor and try it. Light hearted and well executed podcast.
  18. Interesting. This goes to show it really differs for each person as I felt the stroke lab didn't do anything for me and really couldn't decipher any difference. However, with the stability shaft, it felt MUCH easier for me to make an on plane stroke with no "noise" in the stroke. I'm an ok putter currently, so my stroke isn't bad, but I think i would have a little more confidence with stability shaft. Not enough to spend $200 on it. It would be cool if they did some MGS testing on this one.
  19. I was thinking the same thing - I suppose you could channel your inner Phil Mickelson a la 2006 Masters and carry two drivers.
  20. Very cool diy article. Liked his set up and giving all costs and breakdown of where to purchase and how he accomplished. You might look at doing the rapsado r motion for the game aspect and then buying an sc200 for the numbers. Each would run about 200 each but the main draw back is you need to switch the sensor for every club with the r motion. [emoji53] however I think it would still be better than an optishot in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. For me, there are three reasons why I will continue to play a combo or a more blade style for as long as possible. Looks Feel Dispersion With dispersion I'm talking more about distance control, but still some left to right. When I can dial in my players iron to a 7 -8 yard landing area it helps so much more. I've tried non players irons and will have that one that hits the screws and goes 25 yards over my intended distance.
  22. Keeping up pretty well so far as we enter into mid March. Since the start of the year I've gone from 237 to 215, with my goal to hit closer to the 200 mark. Crazy how I ballooned so much in a short time (my largest in college was my current weight). I've really noticed that my stamina has gone up during exercise and I'm a lot less sore than I used to be even though I'm running/working out so much more. Ran a 5:45 mile the other day and that's by far the fastest I've ever attempted. When I don't have a lot of time, I've been doing interval sprints on the treadmill. Run 1 minute at a slow job at 6 mph then the next minute around 9.5 or higher and do that for about 20 minutes. Need to continue to lift weights, but I've been traveling more for work and always trying to keep up with my 3 young children (4 y/o, 2 y/o, 8 months) so it's made it a bit tougher. Good luck to everyone still going strong and those that are looking to get in a little better shape or even make a healthier choice. Have a great week!
  23. Nice! Be sure to post it once it arrives. I wish I would have came across it two months ago. With the season about to start I don’t want to be without a putter for 8-12 weeks. Could you let us know roughly the time frame it took for you as well? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
