I have tried the graphite. I didn't do well. I believe the weighting options though of today may change my thought process. But for now im still cranking with a 130 x stiff. Now I have the fairway and hybrid in graphite and do well. They are 100g x stiff. There also great hybrid options like the GOST from Nippon and steel fiber from aerotech that I would try. They are graphite shafts that have a steel core in them. I'm sure it is a matter of time before I stop being hard headed.

Oddly enough I actually choke down more.on wedges than I do anything else. Obviously for some stinger or under tree shots there a choke down situation. On the norm I use all the club I can.

a802313 reacted to Pots in Do you still carry a 5-iron?
51 here....5-iron is the lowest iron in my bag.  Still have enough speed to hit it (106-108 w/ driver).  It will be the first to likely go when that changes.  I find it helpful to have in the bag for lower-trajectory shots like a punch out from the trees or in windy conditions.  Also, it is the fairway finder for that tight + short par 4 or the dogleg that requires a placement shot...

I am 72 years of age. Over the years I have lost distance. The gap between my irons got narrower so that the longer irons all basically all went about the same distance. it became increasingly hard to get the longer irons up in the air. I decided that I would increase the gap in the lofts from 4° to 5°. Now my irons are 60°, 55°, 50°, 45° pitching wedge, 40° 9 iron, 35° 8 iron, 30° 7 iron, and 24° 6 iron. That makes the six iron almost a 4 iron in loft but because of the technology it still goes high. I then go to a four hybrid, seven, five, three wood and driver. The gap between the six iron at 26° and the four hybrid at 24° is just right as the hybrid is longer.

I think definitely a stand bag but definitely not all treated equally. From number of compartments and some having 14 slots for.clubs or 6 or 4. Backpack straps to carry or.one strap. So many options. But stand bag is way more versatile in my opinion as I would not cart bag for the range and takes up more room in trunk etc.

a802313 reacted to RickyBobby_PR in Why are we still using Swingweight?
I agree. It should go away and finding the right feel and shaft weight will determine whatever works and whatever swingweight it comes out to. I know several experts in the club making and fitting business that feel the same way.

Yes!  Mizuno Pro 245 5 to gap. I use a 3 hybrid and 2 hybrid to cover the gap after the 5 iron. Based on the stronger lofts the 19.5 degree 3 hybrid covers the gap pretty well.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?
     - About 25 years.  Used to play regularly, just getting back into it now.  Tough to say for handicap; just played my first round with my new Sim2 Max irons after having a set of Pine Eye2's for the last 20+ years.  Also got a full set of used Cleveland wedges, and a new mallet putter.  First round playing all these new clubs shot 86 which is my lowest round in years.
What do you love about golf?
     - Hitting a pure shot
What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?
     - Came here initially for all of the reviews, then found the forums.  Not aware of any other spies that I know.
Where are you from? What is your home course?
     - Nebraska initially, N. San Diego County for about 25 years, just moved to East TN 2 two years ago.  Don't have a home course here.  Play TN National quite a bit with friends that are members there, and have played Bear Trace a couple time.
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?
     - No courses real close by; but for the most part it's a lot cheaper than So Cal.

Yes. Long road but had bone spurs in each wrist. The doc said he has only see that 2 times in the 15 yrs working on hands. I still have pain every now and then. But I feel good and still hit steel shafts. I did.hit graphite aerotechs before I got the surgery to.try to avoid it but still not good. Got.to the point I couldn't shake a hand anymore.
