  1. This last part is huge at this stage in the season. @GolfSpy_APH mentioned this in one of the posts above, but we were trying to work out a Hovland-for-Tony deal that we just couldn't get right. Neither of us were OK with a 1-for-1 trade for these two, but for very different reasons: he views Hovland as higher value overall (FWIW, so do I); for me, at 16th place, I can't risk another 2-8 week just to get Hovland as my long-term play, so I couldn't give up Tony without getting a decent player back that takes his spot in the field (both of us were actually trying to fill out a solid team for the 3M). Filling his "value" gap and my "playing" gap could have led to something that many view as lopsided, but it would've worked out for both of us given the timing -- if I was in the top 5, I wouldn't have cared so much about replacing Tony in the field, but I need every win I can get right now. We never got there, so hopefully Tony does well this week
  2. I actually screwed up the dimensions in my post. I use the 18oz most often, and that's the one that works well for me - it fits nicely in cupholders. I do have a 26, which is the same cap with a wider body, but I haven't actually used it yet.
  3. I think there are (at least) two things we should agree on to make sure these late trades are fair: Zalatoris trades should be vetoed. Anyone that still has him knew he was a risk, and he gave them a good run. At this point, no playoff-bound team should be shopping him around for a Top 50 (or even Top 75) FedEx guy. Similar to some of the frustration above, I was offered Z for Finau straight up today, which I declined immediately, but I would hope it would get blocked if I accepted. Any top tier guy coming from a fringe or out-of-contention team and going to a playoff-bound team should expect a lot of scrutiny. The exception in my mind is if a fringe team is getting someone in the next field to help them with a playoff push. I don't disagree with the Berger-Morikawa trade on paper - both are currently in position to make the Tour Championship, and Morikawa might be in position to take a week off (that's still a thing guys do for the Northern Trust, right?), which would put you at a disadvantage. But I get why it was vetoed given the current standings. If it were two playoff teams or if Berger was playing 3M, I'd say let it go through, but there's just no upside for the other team.
  4. I'm seeing that with just about every trade offer Nobody seems to want the guys that I actually want to deal, and everyone just wants Tony (seems like HiggoMania died down a bit after a few missed cuts...). I've fielded 7 trade offers from this post, and 6 of them had Tony involved, some of them Tony solo (the 7th must have been rescinded before I even saw it in FanTrax). I threw his name out as bait to get a top guy heading into FedEx, but my actual goal was to swap the other guys for someone comparable / slightly lower in the FedEx standings with hopes they are in the 3M field (like if one of the top teams is trying to angle for playoff performance and doesn't care as much about 3M).
  5. Your offer is actually the one that has the best 3M return so far - I just have lingering questions on whether it's the right move for me given my current position.
  6. Based on the initial trade offers coming in, I should clarify my Tony position (everyone seems to want him, including me ). Given where I stand for the playoffs, my priority needs to be 3M - not enough time left in the season for me to phone it in for another week. So... If you are including Tony in a pre-3M offer, I'll be looking for both a stud (like a Hovland or Spieth type) and someone that's in the 3M field to replace Tony. How good that 3M replacement is will depend on which other guy you include from my team (right now I value Hatton over Palmer over Higgo) - given my high expectations for Tony, I'm expecting slot 2 to be filled with someone "not as good" as who I'd be giving up, but I also don't want it to be a weekly waiver rider. For a post-3M trade, I can consider other types of offers, so let's chat.
  7. Hatton, Higgo, and Ryan Palmer are on the unofficial trading block - willing to entertain offers for them, and willing to package with a bigger name (even Tony) if the return is right. PM me if you're interested in working something out.
  8. Because of that PXG-like hate, I wanted to dislike this bottle, but I just can't do it. I bought one for my wife's birthday first, then picked up my own thanks to The Buck Club's new member gift package, and then decided to grab one more because they worked so well (this time with The Golfers Journal logo). The 26 is perfect for my golf bag's bottle pocket, and it kept water cold even when sitting in direct sunlight for hours on a recent 90+° day. I suggest trying out the magnetic version of the Chug Cap - you lose the cap handle, but I like it better overall (smaller cap, stashes magnetically on the side rim).
  9. Saw this on Instagram last night -- if anyone is in Wisconsin or the surrounding states, it sounds like he's looking for people to play with him (50 courses in 50 days, all around the state). I threw my name in the hat for either Old Hickory or Lac La Belle next week, so hopefully we can make that happen: https://www.instagram.com/p/CReWRfkM0sU/ http://www.pjkoenig.com/intern-schedule
  10. I'm rolling with 8, which would be a very strong squad circa 2015. Fended off some trade offers that would have pushed me down to 6 (enticing offers for something like a WGC but not this week - sorry I didn't play ball). And I just shot all of my cash to get Sergio in place of HV3 -- hoping that doesn't blow up in my face.
  11. I have an old boss that got dinged by one of the big manufacturers' reps for "selling too low" and they threatened to pull out of his pro shop (he voluntarily did that with their clubs the next year and focused on a couple specific brands). It was technically under the advertising part of the comment above -- the agreement was something like $425 MSRP but cannot display a price below $375. The drivers were not getting any attention at that lowest allowed advertised price, so he dropped it to something like $275 on the sign in the pro shop, which got him in trouble with the rep. In practice, that's a minimum price -- someone could have picked one up and offered lower, and he could have accepted that offer, but that just wasn't happening with the posted price tags (haggling didn't seem common at that course). This was also back in the early '00s, so very possible things have changed since then - I have not kept up with that side of the industry.
  12. Most retail shops won't have this option. Custom build shops probably will, but the prices I've seen have been no different than the full stock club. My suggestion: Keep the stock shaft on hand for if/when you decide to switch brands or Ping switches the adapter -- at that point, put the stock shaft back in the older head when you sell or trade it, and change the adapter on your custom shaft so you can use it with the next head. If you're losing your old 410 shaft (or losing it's adapter) when making the shaft change, you could just put the new G425 shaft into the 410 when you sell it -- if you're looking to trade in the 410 for the 425, the retailer might not allow that though.
  13. It sounds pretty risky to go into a major with only 3, especially when you're in the hunt for the playoffs. I'm giving this advice at risk that you snipe one of the guys I want (using the word "advice" loosely considering my team has been terrible in the last few weeks )...I agree with @GolfSpy_APH -- drop Maverick and/or Wise and pick up one of the solid players off waivers (plenty of good players available that play a lot in the US and currently qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs). If you want them back for next week, you have plenty of cash to make that happen -- unless someone picks them up during the off week, there would be at least 2 copies of them available, which likely means winning bids won't be that high to get them back. My bigger question is whether to put in multiple bids. I want a backup option in case my first two choices fall through, but that risks getting hit by that Fantrax bug that everyone's been talking about (I don't trust my backup options will still be available after the first waiver run).
  14. And now Zach Johnson (Sorry, quoted the wrong post - meant to quote the Bubba comment)
  15. Probably shouldn't have dropped Cam... seemed like the cool thing to do (he was full all season then I think I was the 3rd one to drop him last week), and it was basically for nothing (went 0-10 that week ).
  16. Looks like a few liquor stores around Madison are turning up in the search - I might swing by and check on the way home tonight.
  17. This is the first time I joined an actual event/contest, and I agree it didn't go well. We also tried to host a smaller event for a bachelor party, and that proved difficult (gave up on the app before the second round, switched to 18Birdies). I might join another one of these, but events on the app have been very disappointing. That said, the rest of the app isn't bad, but it depends what you want to get out of it. My team uses it in our league, and it's way better for that purpose. That lets us track how others are playing throughout the round and keep up with things on the team (same is true of other friends that use the app). Plus, it hooks up directly to my WSGA handicap, so anytime I use the app, the scores post automatically and accurately (auto-adjusts for stroke control, tracks 9hole combo rounds, etc.). If I didn't have this use case for it, I wouldn't use it.
  18. Won today thanks to a glitch in the app been struggling with it freezing on occasion since their Royale updates. I was in second trying to go all in on Bubba making that last 5-footer and it froze - guy in first bet big on making it, and he missed. Miura wedge #3 coming in hot.
  19. Same deal with @xOldBenKenobiX -- it doesn't matter how poorly he played in R2 last week, you cannot have Tyrrell for free Gotta be a Fantrax bug or something
  20. I feel ya. Thought I had a great chance after day 1, winning 8 or 9 matchups. But only 3 made the cut and had at least one blowup each day. Currently tracking to a 2-8 week
  21. This article implies he actually needs to accept the exemption before he gets added to the FedEx Cup standings (so maybe it's him, maybe it's the Tour -- or each step might take a few days to get fully active). The points are there, but just not active yet. https://www.pgatour.com/monday-finish/2021/06/14/five-things-palmetto-championship-at-congaree-garrick-higgo.html
  22. He was a two week play for me that might have turned into a season long spot on my roster. Picked him in a pick 'em league too!
  23. Two different pieces to this... I think you can look it up in their database to see if it's there without purchasing (just download the app?), and if it's not, request that they add it/map it -- this will allow you to use the device, see yardages, use caddie, track stats, etc. But the actual course images may be a totally different story, and if those are missing, it's going to be very difficult to use -- there might be a way for you to see the caddie view while playing, but I haven't found it yet (on Android). I am planning to reach out to CS about getting the images updated (or whether I can use the caddie view of the holes, but it might take some time for newer courses. What I was working with in my last round -- how do you add/correct a shot with this? Actual hole from Caddie Preview image (can view this prior to starting the round, and you can pull it up with the "Ask Caddie" feature, but I haven't figured out if I can layer this while editing or without using Caddie):
  24. Exactly what I'm seeing with my team. I didn't note the specific number of wins, but my games back number changes between 14 and 15 depending on when I log in (when I'm 14GB, I'm in 8th; when I'm 15, I'm in 11th).
