  1. They do have a self assessment you can do for people that don't have access to the technology that some would use to determine what protocols to use. I know you live in an area where it's cold and you deal with snow, so the turf tear test might not be feasible for a little while, but I think you said you would be hitting week 20 when it warms up. Go outside and take a couple of swings in the grass and check to see if you damaged your yard. I did one yesterday and this is what I'm looking at: If you don't see significant damage you'll need to do the ASD protocol for ground contact. To see if you need to improve sequencing, take a regular swing and record the speed. Then take a half swing trying to match the previous swing and if it's more than seven percent off, you'll need to do the sequencing protocol. The lag test will involve you recording your swing facing the camera. You'll want to check and see if you're keeping lag through the downswing. This is where I wish I had one of those high speed cameras like they use on Mythbusters. That's a little expensive for me. They do have 1/4 speed playback on YouTube that you might be able to take advantage of. I'm sure someone with more technical knowledge might be able to explain better. If you need videos of the ASD protocols, I'll be happy to send them to you in a PM. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  2. Sorry for the confusion, the four protocols I mentioned are the four types of swings that are in the ground contact ASD. Step change, step back, heel stomp, and double step. I think we do three swings of each, both sides, with each club alternating sides with each swing. Counting the 20 warm-up swings, that's 128 swings. Sorry about the mix up on terminology. I didn't mean to give the impression that we did an extra day of the workout. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  3. I'm definitely interested to see how the kneeling on steroids is going to go because that's the first of the ASD protocols I'm going to do. I've done half swing test a couple of times and noticed I'm about 10-12 percent off the full swing. Did Daisy say it should be no more than 7 percent? I feel sorry for anyone having to do the ground contact drill, that's a lot of swings. Since this has been a recent topic here, I thought I'd refresh my memory watching the videos and four protocols with three swings on each side is going to be a monster. I was able to get it and play yesterday and saw my swing speed average 94.6 mph, I am still not seeing the distance but it's been wet and there was no roll. Still hit 4/7 fairways, so the accuracy is still in the ballpark of where I've been. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  4. I finished up week seventeen in good fashion. I equaled or exceeded my high speed with every club on both sides. My highlights were reaching 118 mph with my yellow stick and 105 with my blue stick left handed. All my highs were with the regular swing, but the double steps are coming along nicely as my body is starting to cooperate with my mind. I also went to the range today to see if I could iron out my ball flight issues, so I took the radar to see if there were any changes. I had a high speed of 101 and a low of 89, but with 11 shots I averaged 96. I'm working on ball positioning in my stance by moving it forward in order to hit more up on the ball, and now I've just got to keep it from going left. Let's just say that I made sure no cars were driving down the road when I hit, I think they need a higher net....just saying. I meant to grab my speed sticks to work on alignment and left them at home. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  5. My fastest swings for the week have come from my middle club a couple of times, and a lot of times there has only been 1-2 mph differences on the weeks that my yellow club has produced the highest speed. In my week 14 report to Daisy at SuperSpeed, she mentioned this discrepancy and encouraged me to really concentrate on getting the lightest club as fast as possible to prime my body for the rest of the session. I think, for me, I'm not as comfortable with the lightest club simply because of the feel. It's getting better, but something I'm going to have to focus on during training. The fact that you started the new protocol with kneeling swings can affect your speeds. Mine tend to drop a little as my body and mind adjust to the new motions. We're currently doing the double step and it's a doozy to get used to. I'm starting to see a little uptick on SS after a couple of weeks, so hopefully you will too. 6. Great numbers Mike! I don't think it'll be too long before you're seeing more triple digits making an appearance on the chart. Hopefully the thumb will feel better soon and you can get back to swinging without pain or worry. It's nice to see another high handicapper giving SuperSpeed a go, mine is currently sitting at 26.3 on Arccos. I think the extra distance is going to make a difference for us all. 7. I'm coming to this a little late, but I'm definitely going to follow along with both you and jlukes. I have never used a systematic approach to improving my game other than to play, with the exception of SuperSpeed. It's going to be very informative hearing how you approach your improvement. I'm rooting for you to improve MPR, I'd love to see you hit single digits. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  8. Great job Kegger! Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  9. Welcome to SuperSpeed training! Keep us posted on how you're doing. I'm glad you didn't damage your club hitting the ground, it's easy to do. I would recommend eventually getting a radar, it's not absolutely necessary, but I find it to be a great motivator that encourages you to make each swing faster than the last. I found a replacement for mine on Amazon for $94. Most importantly, have fun! This system works. @Revkev great speed left handed! Did you ever imagine you'd see speed like that when this started? 10. I'm proud of this one... My last three swings today were 112, 118, 118. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. Sorry to hear about your brother, our thoughts are prayers are with you. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  12. This is interesting, it's definitely something worth looking into. I don't mind the phone in my pocket, it's more that I have to take my wallet out of my front left pocket. I can't stand anything in my back pockets. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. @Kegger, I'm looking forward to hearing your review. @revkev, I haven't done one without the radar. I came close, fortunately Amazon has two day shipping with Prime and my replacement showed up on time. If it had not, I would have listened to the advice you gave and done the workout. 14. Looking outside this morning and seeing the sun, it looks like a great day to hit the course. Then, looking at the weather channel and realizing it's 17 degrees with a wind chill of 4, that's a no go. It's not northern cold, but here in the south it's pretty chilly. Guess I'll have to spend my day off looking at golf shops. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. That's awesome Rev! Having none under 210 is a great showing, especially having to hit into the wind. That 264...nice. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  16. Started week 17 today and almost waited when I saw this: The starting temperature was 31 degrees, which is right at the high for today. I did dress well for the occasion, so well that I felt like an onion or parfait depending on whether you're asking Shrek or Donkey. Layers. I actually broke a pretty good sweat despite the cooler weather. My speeds were good today with highs of 113, 109, and 105 dominant and 108, 108, 99 non dominant. @MikeLambert, it sounds like you had a good indoor session today, keep it up. I feel you on the launch angle, I averaged 197 my last round with a SS of 93 mph due to hitting the ball high. It's something I'll also work on once the weather is nicer. Plus, I'm trying to talk the better half into a new driver, I'm thinking G400 or F9. Mine's just not cutting it anymore. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  17. My putter cover came in today and it looks sharp! Thanks again to the folks at the MGS Store for sending this as a replacement for the tour towel. You guys are awesome! @Ping Apologist #9 I wish they would get that Heather hat back in, too. I like the other ones, but that one really pops. Hopefully once the release of new clubs dies down, we'll see some products restocked. I will still buy the towel once it's back in. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  18. @BuckyCC, I haven't listened to music doing the protocols, yet. But since you mentioned it, I might just have to. Just need to remember to charge the wireless ear buds because I only think of them at the most inconvenient times. I just finished week number 16. I got an email from Daisy where she told me she saw somewhere I could improve my numbers....my yellow club. She encouraged me to ramp up the speed as this club is used to really prime the body for the rest of the workout. You'll notice in my numbers that I'm as fast or faster with my green club. I'm working to improve that, but for some reason I just don't get along with it as well as my other clubs. But, this training is all about improvement and I am intent on getting faster with it. I had a great week training, I matched or exceeded four previous speeds, all with the green and blue clubs. The one I'm most proud of is hitting 109 with my heaviest club. My next goal is to see the radar with the number 120 on it. The double step is becoming more fluid and I'm seeing better speeds, but all the fastest swings this week are normal ones. @MikeLambert, keep up the great work! Those driver swing speeds without a ball are awesome! I don't think you'll have any problem reaching your target of 90 mph when there's a ball there. Everything I've heard and read has said that you're actually slower when swinging without a ball. I'm really curious to see where you're at. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  19. Nicely done, sir! Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  20. You've got your bag looking good! Those headcovers and the bag tag are nice. I bought one of the tags and was actually surprised how big it is. Gotta say MGS knows how to do quality products. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  21. The thought of getting it dirty was causing me some anxiety, not gonna lie. They're just so nice and the fact that the predominant color is white, I was considering carrying another towel to get most of the grime off. Definitely going to enjoy the putter cover. 22. First of all, @GolfspyMPR I hope your arm and hand get to feeling better. Don't worry about taking the time off from the training. I agree with what was said about doing ice massages, they use them at work to help with the inflammation of the repetitive motions we do. @yungkory, I hope you know your picture made me laugh out loud. Beautiful dog, by the way. I have a soft spot for animals. @revkev, thank you for the comment about visualizing the shot. I'm a believer in always learning and your advice really hit the spot for revving (no pun intended) up my training this evening. I picked the lone tree in the background and imagined myself hitting over it. First swing yellow: 112 Best swing green: 113 Best swing blue: 109 (record) Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  23. As most of you know, a week ago the store ran a sale for members of the community. I have had my eyes on one of the golf towels for a while and decided to make the purchase. So today, I'm sitting at work when I receive an email letting me know that there was a mix up on the website and that the towels were out of stock, but they were willing to send me either a mallet or blade putter cover for no extra charge. I just wanted to take an opportunity to highlight the excellent customer service from Harry Nodwell and the folks here at MyGolfSpy. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  24. I've been hooked on AC Odyssey for the past couple of months. I only get to play a little at a time since we hit a busy season at work. I'm also considering Red Dead 2, a guy I work with is absolutely obsessed it and from what I see it looks great. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  25. My regular swings are fairly consistent, usually within a 5 mph range. My kneeling swings are all over the place, usually the first is really slow compared to the rest. The double step is all over the place, I'll sometimes have one at 80 and the next will be 98. I think that has to do with not being used to all the moving parts involved and feeling uncomfortable with them. What I do like about them is that they are a complete shock to the system. I'm curious to see how they will effect my swing and to see what they will provide as far as a speed benefit. Sent from my SM-G955U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
