  1. Meandmygolf is good but they stopped making videos. peter finch is good too
  2. It simple actually. its all about the set up. I tee the ball up about half ball above the crown of my driver and it is inside of my left heel at address. then have a reverse k in my stance and keep my regular swing. By doing so, it changes my AOA from being negative with my irons into a positive with my driver. Also by increasing the AOA, your spin numbers will also be reduced. Which combined with the increase in height, will give you larger carry numbers. And I have had access to both trackman and GC Quad for data measurements.
  3. Thanks! Just a lot of range time trying to get the ball up in the air and keeping it there longer. There are tons of drills and set up changes online if you're looking to change it.
  4. My fitting was at a Taylormade fitting event. So they had every shaft offering available to test during the fitting. During my fitting process I started with my M5 with my V2 shaft in it to get baseline numbers. From there they gave me a SIM with my V2 shaft from my M5. After a few swings, the fitter didn't like the spin or launch and started handing me all sorts of different shafts. We tested the Hzrdous Smoke green, Ventus blue and black, Diamania s Limited, Mistubishi Tensi Pro White, hoping to find a better combination but were unable to. In the end he recommended that if I do decide to upgrade to the SIM that I could either play the Smoke green and get it tipped two inches like my current gamer or to play my current gamer shaft in the new head. The numbers that I gave were generated with my gamer Proforce V2 7F5.

  6. Yes, I have seen those videos and reviews. My stating that the SIM was a regression was in my opinion and not a fact. The numerical data that I presented was just for my reasoning as to why the SIM is not an ideal match for me. I am a fairly good ball striker and my strikes typically sightly towards the toe at or above center. My AOA is +4 to +5. I like to swing up on the ball a lot. Thanks for the reply.
  7. exactly what everyone else said. Now a days, almost all graphite shafts on the market are extremely high quality. And all the shafts you're talking about are great, but not all of them will fit your swing. The most important thing when shopping for shafts is to make sure that they match your swing. You have to look at the numbers, spin, launch angle, swing speed, ball speed, etc. After comparing will you know which shaft is made for you. But the UST Proforce V2 is an amazing shaft and I have kept it in my bag for the last 4 years despite changing drivers.
  8. project X shafts are extremely stout shafts. Not tip trimming them will soften them up but not enough to where they become a reg flex shaft. Project X 6.0 shafts are 115g shaft. for an individual such as yourself i would recommend going to 105g or 100g.
  9. Just wondering, What drills are people doing at home during this situation? Maybe post a video or pictures. I'll start by sharing what I'm doing. Im chipping in the back yard and doing some swing speed training with a set of homemade swing weights made from 1/2 in pvc pipe filled with sand, 3/4in pvc with sand, and an alignment stick.
  10. The swing speed is dependent on the golfer but what's more important is the ball speed. Ive tested and compared the SIM to my M5 and yes the club head speed with the SIM was faster, but it was negligible. In looking at the ball speed, the M5 had faster ball speed by 3 to 4 mph. Another thing is the spin rate and launch angle. Those are the most important things rather than pure swing speed. Those numbers equate to distance. Swing speed gives you the opportunity to create ball speed but it doesn't guarantee an high ball speed. And ball speed is distance.
  11. I am a die hard believer in driving fittings. Actually is fitting for all clubs and even balls. With that being said, the outdoor environments are going to have a drastic effect on the ball flight. So when you were hitting the ball in freezing temperatures, the ball is defiantly not going to fly as far. Regardless of how you strike the face prior to your fitting, getting a fitting is important when purchasing a new club because when you're getting fit, it isn't only about what head your playing or getting fit for. The shaft and grip is just as important. As nicely fit shaft can tighten your precision when striking a golf ball. The shaft should be the first thing your fitter fits you for. From there the head and the numbers that they generate combined with the shaft should be tinkered with to determine the ideal fit. Golf equipment fitting isn't an exact science, but with the tools like trackman and GC quad it makes the job much easier. And you could always go to a pro shop at a course with a trackman and get fit on a range so you can see the actual flights along with the numbers.
  12. I am a HUGE taylormade fan. With that being said, I think that with the release of the new SIM driver, they regressed a bit. With the loss of the adjustability of the weights in the T tack to only the front slide row for draw and fade setting, players like myself who spin the ball high and need the weights to be in the front aren't going to fit well into the SIM. I am currently playing the M5 driver in a 9.5 deg head turned down to 7.5 deg with one weight set in the draw and the other to the very front, my numbers are 118 swing 2300 spin 174 ball and 13 deg launch carry for 305yds. When I sent to get fitted for the SIM and well lest just say I'm going to stick with my M5. At the fitting my numbers were 119 swing, 3000 spin, 175 ball, 15 deg launch, carry 289yds. All of my numbers were from the fitting on GC Quad with range balls onto a range on the same day and the numbers were averages.
  13. Just wondering if there's any members living in San Diego that knows of some courses that are open during this time? I am beginning to develop stock home syndrome being locked up and not being able to play. Hope everyone is being safe out there.
  14. Im a rangefinder guy. Its simplistic and doesn't require updating. Its point and shoot and right to the point. I can see how gps can have its advantage when playing a new course but how many courses are you going to play that you have never played before? And if you are playing a new course, I perfer to do some research and go to google earth to maps and look at the layout and are notes.
  15. Seriously, the stay at home order has been driving me crazy. I got so bored that I decided to play with my lob wedge and took it to the grinder.
  16. Its a love/hate relationship..... This club only has one type of ball flight and its HIGH. I don't know if it my shaft combination or the way that I swing it, but the ball will always have a high ball flight. But aside from that I love it. I use it off the tee mostly and can use it to reach par fives on two. It fits my gap between my 4 iron(220yds) and 3 wood(275) nicely. I'll generally pull it out if i'm looking to carry the ball about 240-245 yds at sea level. Taylormade has discontinued it but I'm sure you can find a new or gently used one for sale cheap. My father has the 3 GaparHi, the one that looks like a rescue and that club hits like a 7-iron and it flies for miles. So it depends on how you strike the ball but you can't go wrong with the 2-iron GaparLo or the 3-iron GaparHi
  17. Can I have a broke 80 badge added to my account please?

  19. Tipping is generally used to reduce launch and spin as well as flex. Its is all depending on how the shaft fits you and if you like the feel of the shaft.
  20. I currently use a proforce V2 7F5 extra-stiff shaft. The correct shaft makes a HUGE difference in my game. If was using that L shaft that you had, id easily loose 30-40 yards short on my drives.
