I’ve never seen a wedge do that before, and it has to do with the what finish they used and how it was applied. Definitely reach out to the company and let us know what you find out.

Nailed it. I have a very flat swing and a late release which is great for longer clubs, but really hard to control wedges. I personally fixed it by working with a coach to change my impact conditions, made all the difference.

I’ll give Sams putt lab a look! Glad to hear the effort making a difference in your game. Yea I do consider a slight right miss to be a blessing. My technique has been to just aim a touch further left. But as an engineer and constant tinkerer, I am left wondering if something flows even better with my swing.

Can't argue with the find what suits your swing theme in the thread. But the Ventus is a fantastic shaft, my new favorite. Gives a nice smooth whip through the ball, but is still extremely consistent. The Black is as stiff as the HZRDUS line, without feeling like rebar.

Those look great! What did you polish them with, and are you going to restore stock paint fill or go with a personal design? I'm working on a set os MP-60s that were pretty rusted up. Soaked them in vinegar, stripped the paint fill, and scrubbed everywhere with a fine steel wool. Took rust right off, but I'd like to polish them, fill in some of the lighter scratches, and protect them.

I have a flat swing plane, probably at least partially due to my slight build at 5'4", but drivers are more upright now than ever before. I tend to hit towering blocked fades that can turn quickly into snap hooks when I get after it. I did have the pleasure of testing the new Ventus Blue and Black and loved them. - Is there a shaft design that has an increased stability and loading for someone who tends to swing flat and from the inside, and is torque a major factor to consider? - When you are in between recommended flexes, say with a 105mph driver clubhead speed like myself, how would you make a decision based on typical miss pattern? Assuming you can't make it to a fitter for a couple hours to give a fair evaluation.

Awesome, thanks for the link. Once I can get my hands on the XS and hit the links, I'll post a quick review! I tend to miss with a blocked fade when I'm off a bit, and with a really spinny ball that can hang up FOREVER. Sounds like the XS might help with that as an added bonus.

Thanks all for the replies! Lots of knowledge on this subject! The TXG channel is great. They do an awesome job relating what Matt feels and how they are using equipment to fit that feel. I do currently use a Ping Karsten TR PAL. I tend to have a very mild arc on my putts, definitely doesn't move off the line a ton. I do open the face with forearm rotation on ALL my clubs including the putter, I hate the feeling of keeping them from rotating. Inefficient maybe, but it's the way I like to feel the club working. Seems like I'm going to have to try a few different weights and toe hangs to see if my natural pattern is complemented by a particular style. I'll let you guys know what I find out, but it might be slow going with the shut down limiting access to facilities.

What’s up guys, stuck inside for the lockdown so I’m working on my putting stroke. I’ve been missing putts right recently with my Ping Karsten TR PAL. I noticed that I tend to return the face slightly open at impact. Can this be related to toe hang? Would a face-balanced putter tend to reduce this effect or make it worse? Any face-balanced blade putter fans out there?

Definitely has to have nice clean lines, no glare, and a small head, otherwise I can’t stand the look of it.

I’m a big fan of the Z-star, have been for a long time. Excited to give these a try. I’m a big fan of a really high spin, firm ball because the local course has all tabletop greens. Need the ball to sit down quickly even on little shots. It’s then my job to take spin off when I have too by swinging easier.

Based on this, I think the clubhead should have some forgiveness to it paired with a shaft that you can feel loading with your individual tempo. Seems like you might be losing the clubhead causing mishits on the longer clubs so I would be looking for something that encourages firm centered strikes. How you confident you feel with the club in hand is probably one of the most important stats, and is often overlooked. It’s hard to recommend something will check these boxes on a forum, but I’m a mizuno fan myself and I hope this helps.

You’re right, I did more research on the topic. Both Taylormade and Tour Edge have a “made for” version of the shaft. Fujikura quote (from GolfWRX) "The STOCK shafts used in the new TaylorMade products is a Ventus part without VeloCore Technology (no Pitch 70 ton or 40 ton in the bias core) that we worked in conjunction with TM to optimize the performance for a wide range of golfers. Please refer to TaylorMade for specs. note: TaylorMade is the ONLY company offering ventus without VeloCore as their stock shaft. And their custom upgrade shafts are the aftermarket versions, hence the upcharge. So if you see a ventus part at another OEM it is our aftermarket part with VeloCore and carries a $350 MSRP. the only exception is Tour Edge has a Ventus with "4T Core" which is same construction as VeloCore, but without the $$$ Pitch 70T material. 4T core is all high-mod 40 Ton in the full length bias core." Not confusing at all...

There was no one else in the store so I hit maybe 10 shafts on 3 different driver heads while chatting to various sales people. The Ventus Black VeloCore was my favorite shaft of the bunch. It has a very stiff tip, similar to the HZRDUS line, but is softer feeling in the mid- and butt-sections. Subjectively, it really feels like I could load this shaft, and that it gave an extra whip through the ball. Even at my moderate swing speed of 106mph it didn't feel to "board-y", and produced spin numbers in the low 2000s with a 13.5* launch angle. For comparison, I also hit the HRZDUS Smoke and Smoke Green shafts. While the numbers were good, they felt like they had no action to them and were not right for my swing.
