  1. I shot my first round in the 70's in 2005ish (a 76 on a short 9 hole course on the base where I was stationed in Turkey). I shot a 77 on the course at McGuire AFB in 2010. After a layoff of 5+ years, I returned to the game in the autumn of 2016, grinded for a couple years to get the game back, and finally had my best year ever last year putting up 4 rounds in the 70's... 75, 78, 78, and 79. Now, I've rebuilt my swing in an effort to get better and, as expected, my scores have skyrocketed for the time being and I'm "seeking70's" again.
  2. I'm not in love with my 4i. Thinking of going back to a hybrid in that slot. Tossing around the idea of replacing the 5wd and 4i with a hybrid to open up a spot in the bag. Might go Driver, Driver, 4wd, 3h (or 4h), then 5i. Hmm...
  3. I've been struggling lately. Rebuilt the swing over the winter. Started in November with a goal of late March to start grinding out on course to see the effect of my swing change. Was making great progress on the range for a couple months or so and feeling really good about things. Then COVID stepped in and screwed up everything. Now, I'm regressing because it's difficult to even make it to the range around here. Made pretty big swing changes. Grip, takeaway, shortened swing, etc. Last few rounds have been mostly cloudy with a ray of sunshine here or there. I had 2 birdies and 1 par in 18 holes 2 rounds ago. Last round, I shot a 94 with a "par + handicap" on a nearly 200y par 3, but I hit a 470y par 4 playing into the wind so effectively about 510ish with driver/3wd, then two putted for a par (felt like birdie). It's been feast or famine lately. Can't wait until things settle down.
  4. Those look much nicer than mine. I used washers in various numbers to get my weights correct. I've never seen numbers other than %'s so I went with the %'s of 200g. Figure I'm close enough. If I ever rebuild, I'll consider the scale weights.
  5. I figured as much. If I build the one I linked above, I'm probably gonna try to make the supports that are directly in the hitting area about 2' behind the net/drop cloth to minimize the direct strikes to those poles. I'm not ure what others would be in high risk areas.
  6. I'm interested to hear how you adjusted to the (nearly) non-existent swingweight in the longest irons.
  7. That looks sweet! I'm gonna have to get on it. I'd love to be able to hit balls in the yard without having to worry about COVID-19!
  8. After pricing this one out, it can be built for around $200 if you use the pro high impact netting (recommended for >110mph swing speed) and about $150 if you just use the high impact netting (good up to 110mph).
  9. I know. That's why I was hoping that someone that had done it before and learned some lessons along the way could point me in the right direction. I've looked online. Just don't see anything that really tugs at my heart strings.
  10. Here's one such product. https://www.diamondtour.com/accelerator-swing-speed-training-system.html Not sure if that's the one that Tony mentioned above, but it looks like it might work. Unfortunately, it looks like DTG is closed due to COVID.
  11. Does anyone have a good plan for a DIY backyard hitting net? I'm thinking I could make a frame out of PVC, then put up a decent net and maybe a thick(ish) painter's drop cloth for a back drop. I'm figuring at least 8' tall, maybe 10', maybe a 2-3 foot section at a 45° angle at the top pointed toward the hitter to knock down any stray popups. Also, a side net to catch any s&#(ks. Any good ideas? If you've built one, that's great, post up some pics and details of what you did to build it.
  12. Plenty of courses around here still open. Plenty closed, too. Golf really is one of the safer activities that we can participate in. Makes no sense to close the courses.
  13. That's a typo on the 4i headweight, right? Should it be 252?
  14. If you don't find a set, then consider putting a set together. I built two DIY SS clubs. Still need to build the 3rd, but it's definitely doable for $ instead of the $$$ that they want for the brand named set.
  15. I agree with the "use reason" crowd. I nearly holed out a pitch for birdie on a par 3 last week. My boy, playing with me, said it definitely would have gone in if the hole had not had the "pool noodle" around the flagstick just below the ground level. So... birdie it was. I'm as much of a rules stickler as any, but this just makes sense.
  16. I keep forgetting that. Good point.
  17. I don't see it. Is there a possibility of head only on the 4wd?
  18. Shipping is the killer on carts. You just have to get lucky and find someone that has already moved on. I lucked into a 3.5+ on eBay a while back. Got it for around $200 with a bunch of accessories. Sold a few of them that I didn't want and had about $180 in it. Then, sold my SM Speed Cart locally for $70 to offset the cost. Not saying it can't be done, but you're probably looking for the needle in a haystack. Good luck!
  19. I have a set of PX LZ 6.0 120g in 4-GW. Let me know if you're interested.
