  1. I'd love to say my bag is set, but I'm not so sure. I have a tendency to wander sometimes. I will say, it's got a better chance this year than it has for many, many years. I'm not sure what would be changing. That being said, I will likely swap my RTX4 58/3 for the RTX4 58/9 when the weather warms up and the courses aren't so wet. I don't consider that a club change since it's only the bounce I'm changing for.
  2. I'll be pleasantly surprised if SS isn't bankrupt when I get that age. I'm hoping to make it with my military retirement, disability, fed civ pension, and wife's fed civ pension along with our 3 TSP accounts. I figure if we can get the total TSP balance between the 3 accounts to $1M by the time we both pull the plug we'll be fine.
  3. This is a very personal question. Not so much that I don't think many will share, but in that everyone has a different idea of how much money they will need in retirement. For me, I'm 44.5 and I have my sights set on retiring at 57, maybe. I retired from the AF in 2015 so I have the military retirement and my VA disability. At 57, I'll get a reduced retirement from my federal job and I'll likely take it. If I can get my TSP and other investments up to the amount I want them to be at by then, it's a foregone conclusion. I want plenty of years to spend with the mrs traveling and seeing the world (and the U.S.). With her being nearly 3 years older than me, I think that's gonna be the plan.
  4. Long story short, I'm 44.5 years old. This winter is killin' me and I decided to try to learn to play. Haven't touched a guitar for ~30 years and even then I wasn't really that interested. Anyone got any good tips, sites, videos, etc. to help an old newbie learn?
  5. Not sure if I've commented here yet. I picked 5+. Driver - TM Fairway woods - Callaway Irons - Srixon Wedges - Cleveland Putter - Odyssey Driver, 3wd, 5wd, 7wd shafts - Project X 9wd, 5i-SW shafts - True Temper LW shaft - Nippon Putter shaft - I'm assuming it's proprietary so, maybe, Odyssey Swing club grips - Golf Pride Putter grip - Superstroke Ball - Srixon and various others Tees - Epoch
  6. What are the dimensions of the v2 wheels when detached for travel? I just pulled the trigger on a set after pondering for a LONG time over the v1. Anyway, for $680, I couldn't pass it up. Now, I'm gonna order the front wheel conversion for my 3.5+ and probably the tether, but they're sold out of the travel cover. I probably would have sourced a cover on my own anyway instead of paying $70 for one, but I want to get a head start before it arrives. Thanks in advance.
  7. I'll have to seek out a nice, big, shiny belt buckle like that one...
  8. The $350 isn't the catching point. The iOs only sure sucks though. I have 2 SS type "clubs" that I built for myself and used them fairly successfully last year. I'd be all over something like this if it supported the superior Android devices.
  9. This is the best I can do. Someone should plan a MGS get together with the plaid theme.
  10. We're gonna have lows in the negatives next week. Nowhere near the -28°F up there, but cold enough. I've felt -17°F with -50°F wind chills. I'm sure that's no record for many, but it was still freakin' cold. Honestly, the wind in the killer. Once it gets down below about 20°F, cold is cold. Throw in some wind and it's just not right.
  11. I'd rock that in a heartbeat. I will have to get in on this when the weather warms a bit. Today's high was 21° and tomorrow is looking like 27° so I'm gonna hold off for a bit before playing any clubs, much less vintage wooden woods and blades.
  12. Been there. Done that. Wind is the ultimate equalizer though. If you can play in the wind, the game becomes that much easier when conditions are calm.
  13. OK is fairly close to the middle. For the record, the geographic center of the US is in Kansas somewhere. OK has some great courses. I'm willing to travel a bit with enough heads up.
  14. Is this real? Gonna happen this year? I could be convinced to make a drive down from OK if I get enough lead time. I'd say 24-48 hours should be enough! Haha...
  15. The ZX series would be high on my list, too. Love my 585/785 combo set.
  16. I've got an F8 10.5 that I'd let go. Let me know if you're interested and we can talk about a price.
  17. Just read that to the mrs. Took her about 30 seconds and me reading the punchline twice, but she enjoyed it.
  18. I keep saying it, but I think I'm safe this time. My bag should be set for the year. I just replaced my 5i with a 9wd. It'll be the least irons I've had in my bag for a LONG time. I don't think I'm quite ready for an 11wd, though, so the bag should be set for 2021.
  19. High will be in the upper 50's tomorrow with winds in the 10-15mph range. Should make for excellent January golf.
  20. Went through another 3 buckets at the range today. Loving the Mevo so far. Its brutal honesty with carry distance is great. I have been using it to help train myself to lower my launch angle a bit. It's far worse in my short irons and wedges, but it's high with everything. Also, put my new EF 9wd into the mix today and liked what I saw on the Mevo.
  21. What's my best joke? Right now? Probably my driver swing.
  22. Picked up a 9wd (yep, that's not a typo, a 9wd) from CallawayPreOwned on eBay. Now, I have 2 Epic Flash SZ (3 and 5) and two Epic Flash (7 and 9) fairways in the bag. This is all assuming the 9wd passes its audition tomorrow at the range with the Mevo. I'm fully prepared for the snide remarks, but I figure if DJ can game a 7wd, I can game a 9wd.
