DownInOne
Over the 4th I got to see my grandfathers Ping putter. I hadn't seen it in about 12 years. My dad played played with it a few times but due to it's loud Ping sound, annoying not only his foursome but foursomes a few holes over, he stashed it in the corner. It was given to my grandfather out of Karstens garage along with an original pat pending Ping Answer. My father kept the now 1A and gave the Ping Answer to my grandfathers best friend when my grandfather died in hopes that his best friend would use it. It instead was put in the corner only to be played with later by grandkids who took it outside and left it somewhere in the middle of a field never to be seen again. Anyway here is the putter my dad still has. It has the original leather wrap and brass head with pat. pend stamped on the bottom. Damn cool! AH1980MN
I'd love to see more of these stories - my brother (who doesn't play) was given my Bapa's Browning 440s after Bapa died. My grandfather loved to play, and if I can remember, he was pretty good. More recently, though still 15 years ago, when my Nana would visit I would watch Bobby Jones lessons on the golf channel (remember those?) With her and listen to her reminisce. I only wish I had one more chance to tag along with him.
