GolfSpy_SHARK
I found the below pictures very interesting. In a game that has become so data driven, what is everyone doing for those parts of the game that isn’t surrounded by the data? I have always been a “feel” golfer. This year utilized more data through arccos and will continue to use it because it has shown me where my big weakness is....approach shots....I think a lot has to do with getting off the tee extremely well this year and just being in my head “gotta hit the green here, you haven’t been doing that make sure you do”. My goal is to slow down and plan those shots, was I too excited maybe? Who knows. The plan, have the data and feel coexist. hope you like the read which made me go on this tangent to relate it to golf Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? cnosil
Interesting story on the planes. Not sure what part of the game isn't surrounded by data. You may use feel, but that feel is based on repeated experimentation and a gathering of data. Essentially what you describe in the second paragraph is emotion; golf has also become emotionless. You can't let your emotions dictate your planning or strategy; the numbers define what you are supposed to do for each shot. ejgaudette
Great story there and as a data guy in my say job this is such a big thing when communicating to clients what we are seeing. Also I think stokes gained is the data that helps fill-in the areas your not sure about previously. Without it simply hitting the fairway even 50 yards shorted might seem good because it helped the FIR stat, or hitting the green from 70 yards out is a GIR but if you are averaging 50 feet away on those shots that's not great. Just a thought. That is true I suppose nothing is without data unless it’s your first time. Much better description my emotion. GolfSpy_BOS
The best thing for me with Arccos has been seeing how much better I score when I am for the middle, back of greens. My GIR gets way better, and my putting is good enough to convert one or two of those mid-range putts. That’s an awesome story on the WWII planes. I’m going to have to remember that one when looking at large data sets at work. I’m sure it will apply at some point.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Qi10 - Terra Forza White | Speedzone 5-wood - Ventus Blue 8S | G430 3-Hybrid - Kai'li White 80s SMS Pro 4-PW - Steelfiber i110S | MG3 Raw Black 50.09, 54.11, 58.11 - DG TI S200 Mezz Max | Pro V1x | Vortex Blade | Ghost Maverick Black Ops - Forum Edition | CaddyLite EZ v8
