RedMist
Good afternoon all. I'm a casual player that usually only plays with family or in outings from work while having a cigar and some beer. I've only ever had a basic golf bag set from TaylorMade from over 10 years ago and every year I find myself wanting to play more to bring down my score and for the bragging rights to my family. My question is, now that I'm starting to look, what is the recommendation in clubs and balls. I know this is a lot to ask since it's such a wide range of questions and answers I'll have to figure out however where would be the best place to start. Thanks for all help in advance! one0wonder
Before buying anything now, I would sign up with a teaching pro in your area and talk to him/her about lessons first. Then you can start your pursuit to find newer clubs that would be good for an interim time. Good luck on your endeavors. Hit'em straight and in the fairway. So many companies now make great clubs in a wide variety of styles and playing preferences. You can get a great, brand new Maltby set of irons for as low as $350 or could go all the way up to Miuras for $2000 and everything in between. Drivers are now made in as many as 4 different iterations in each product release cycle (example Callaway's Paradym line of drivers). Basically there is an insane amount of choices. I would echo getting fit. Short of that, you could buy the top rated game improvement irons from the My Golf Spy reviews (Most wanted guides here ) and get some value on a used set from like the 2020 Most Wanted Game improvement irons guide (Titleist T300 I believe). I think you would ok there but, again, lessons from a good teacher and practice would do you more benefit than a $3,000 bag of clubs. But it is FUN to buy new clubs.
