  1. ok, here’s the story. long post, so bear with me. my mother in law joined a country club this year. she joined for the tennis and socializing but there’s an awesome 9 hole course at the club. i got out 3 times this summer. once with a friend of hers, and twice as a favor from the GM. it’s the perfect scenario. we drive to her house. my wife and son get to hang out with grandma, and i get to golf. she’s getting me out again on friday i know what you’re thinking. “Chip, what do you need us for? there’s no problem here!” you’re right, there isn’t. or at least there wasn’t until about 2 weeks ago, when my wife’s two brothers Frick and Frack “played” their first round of golf on a muni course down in florida. i was talking to her earlier when she goes “the boys are excited to golf with you on friday” my brothers in law are the last people you want to see when you’re out playing golf. they’re the idiots you see on instagram running each other over with a cart in their backswings. i’m trying to find the right way to tell my MIL that for her sake and mine, taking them out at the club is a terrible idea. my first thought is to offer up that if they wanna learn, ive got no problem playing a few rounds with them at a local muni or public course. if that doesn’t land, then i’m just gonna hit her with “if you wanna stay a member, don’t let them golf” what would you guys do here?
  2. @dlow206 @cnosil @RickyBobby_PR there seems to be some room right of that black dot before you get to the trees. what about a cut with a 230 club starting at that dot? could cut down the approach by 10-30 yards depending where the pin is.
  3. i accept your ruling, seeing as you have almost as many brands in your bag as i have clubs
  4. so 220 clears the corner, and leaves 200 in to the green? and 250 that follows the shape of the hole is the ideal shot? definitely sounds like a tough hole.
  5. i'm at 3. taylormade woods, titleist irons and wedges, and a sik putter. i guess technically it could be 4 if you consider vokey its own brand and not a part of titleist. can i get a ruling on that?
  6. let's assume a center cut tee shot. how far is it to the landing area to clear the corner, and then what is the distance on the approach shot?
  7. we have bears by us but they're extremely rare and they're usually way more interested in people's trash than live chickens. foxes, coyotes, and raccoons are the big concerns. that's why i dug a 3ft deep trench when we started building the coop and buried hardware cloth, attached it to the bottom boards around the run, then backfilled. anything that wants to get in will have to dig down more than 3 feet, and then back up.
  8. yeah i think i’ll give it a test run when i get out later this week.
  9. who here has switched to left hand low for putting? shotscope is showing me that i’m not a good putter and just messing around in my living room, the stroke feels much more stable using left hand low
  10. old scotty came in today. overall the head is in good shape, it just needs some love. the shaft is a different story. im gonna have it refinished this winter.
  11. to be fair, if you didn’t you wouldn’t have mentioned it. it was an art form used to thank god for the cds that had the lyrics printed in the jacket. that way you made sure you got it just right
  12. this reminds me of being in middle school when people would put up cryptic away messages on AIM that said they wanted to be left alone when they REALLY wanted someone to ask them what was wrong.
  13. yeah but they look 1000 times better than untinted windows, so i’ll take my chances with the fix it ticket. i’ve had limo tints for over 15 years and i’ve been stopped once in all that time. i prefer an SUV as a daily driver to a car. my golf clubs will never in a million years be a consideration to get me to change that. now, to further dissent from the group…when i do feel like driving a car to the course, my woods have to go in the front seat because they won’t fit in the front trunk.
  14. we’ve got some new additions to the family. coop got finished today so these 12 ladies came home from the farm. we’ve got barred rocks, olive eggers, plymouth white rocks, and one lavender orpington.
  15. everything has a price and someone offered me the right number.
  16. my buddy has a ‘67 convertible. absolutely gorgeous. i just sold this: all numbers matching 1970 454 LS6
  17. for so many reasons. first, i can’t tell you the last time i was actually at a dealership other than to pick up the car i ordered and paid for. we shopped online through apps for my wife’s last two cars and they were delivered to the house. for mine, i just work with my guys at either of two dealerships directly and i don’t show up until the car is there second, i mainly choose a car based on how it looks. i couldn’t care less if i have to lay a seat down or take a club out of the bag. if it mattered to me, i’d take my work truck to the course. the idea that there would be a car someone absolutely loved but they passed on it because their clubs didn’t fit perfectly, or even worse because their wife’s clubs didn’t fit is preposterous to me.
  18. if anyone wants to know what a high ball flight looks like, i invite you to come play a round with me i promise you that a PW at 170’ in the air is a sight to behold
  19. picked up an early 2000s scotty cameron pro platinum newport that’s in pretty rough shape last night for…$100!! it’s gonna get refinished this winter along with a set of mizuno mp33s
  20. these are my views on the subject, basically verbatim.
  21. from the article: “Smith had the sixth-best score out of six players on his team. The Aggies finished 11th in the 13-team field, 57 shots off the pace set by tournament champion Elon.” that’s a very long winded way of saying he had the worst score.
  22. it wouldn’t be in @dlow206’s bag long enough to say the full name. sheesh what a mouthful
