can someone clear up “manual putting” for me? when i get on the green, it says “pin collect” and gives me 0,1,2,3,4, or “pick up” as options. how do i navigate this?

thanks! i’ll give this a shot. the number of wedges i’ve chunked from 100 out IN THE FAIRWAY over the last few months is enough to keep me up at night

interesting…so stay 60/40 front? or even more. i always thought to approach a 3/4 swing the same as a full swing, and just kind of chop a little off each end of it. you’re saying staying on my front foot more will help me get through the ball and eliminate some of the fat shots?

my wedge game has been AWFUL lately. lots of chunks and scooping balls that land well short from 80-120 yards lately. hit a few buckets of wedges today aimed at the 100yd flag. i usually play that shot with a 3/4 swing 56*. here are a few swings. second one is a touch fat but still flew the number. if anyone sees anything worth noting here, i’m all ears. shoutout to my wife for the camera work and my son for the commentary IMG_8821.MOV

brand name gloves are a pretty big waste of money. i bought 10 MG gloves with my initials on them for the price of 3 premium titleist or footjoy gloves.

damn! i’m paying $300 a month. it’d almost be cheaper to fly your guy in…

instead of all of this guesswork, why not to do a fairway/hybrid fitting to see what you can consistently hit the correct distance to fill that gap? the fitting will be a lot cheaper and faster than buying 2 or 3 or 4 clubs that don’t work.

gotta love sandbagging in scrambles. we played as a threesome today. played our ball down, putted everything out, and shot an honest 64. every group we saw out there was dropping extra balls, foot wedging, and drinking more than their fill our 64 wasn’t even good enough for 3rd place. some group came in at 59!!! man i really feel cheated out of my $100 in pro shop credit!

that super hybrid isn’t doing you any favors. maybe swap it out for a 4w or something that’ll carry 230-240 and you should be good to go

played a scramble today at a really nice club in stamford ct par 5 14th hole playing 560. my partners drive left us 290 out sitting in the first cut we decided the best play was for the shorter hitter in the group to hit a safe iron about 175 and for the two longer guys to pull 3w and go for it. plan worked to perfection. first guy hit a great 7i to the middle of the fairway. second guy hit a good 3w but tugged it a little and ended up about 50 yards short in the left rough. i hit last and hit potentially the best 3w of my life. took off like a bullet starting about 10 yards left of the green and cut back to the middle. hit the apron leading to the green and rolled up to the collar. if it hadn’t rained all morning, it would’ve rolled right up to the middle of the green

why? aside from a huge gap at the top of the bag, you’ve got really consistent gapping all the way through.

i got invited to play a charity scramble tomorrow and i’m considering trying my driver lofted all the way down to 6*. i’m curious what kind of ball flight i’ll get. even at 7.25* i get some drives that balloon on me and end up flying only 240-250 despite being hit a ton.

i was thinking this morning (where every man does his best thinking) if there will ever be an artificial turf golf course. the MLB and NFL have gone to turf for a lot of stadiums to lower maintenance costs and also promote athlete health and longevity. any chance golf would follow suit? maybe a hybrid course where the fairways are turf and the rough is real grass? i doubt it’ll ever happen but it was a thought that crossed my mind and i figured i’d open it for a discussion here
