  1. that’s why i lease. give em back with some tread left on the tires and get a newer model
  2. wives or cars? i guess your advice applies to both
  3. i took over the job of picking my wife’s cars out. i figured if i’m gonna be the one servicing the car and taking it to get cleaned/detailed, then i’ve gotta be the one to pick it out. plus, it’s gotta be something i want to drive for the times we take her car.
  4. they’re under no obligation to help you but it’s kind of a dick move to not even come take a quick look around where they thought it landed. i’ll always help unless i’m in worse trouble on the other side of the fairway myself
  5. that’s awesome @Golfspy_CG2!! it’s amazing what a difference it makes when you vibe well with a coach.
  6. from his coach, definitely. players know what works for them, whereas a coach knows what works for players across a broad spectrum. i’ve worked with pro baseball players in the past. when someone is that talented, they take certain things for granted and sometimes can’t relate to what an average player might struggle with.
  7. i got my wife a BMW X3 with the M sport package last year. she loves it. some of the tech features are actually awesome instead of gimmicky add-ons. the live cockpit is great and the touch screen has something called “gesture control” where you can answer a call or change the radio station just by waving your hand in front of the touch screen.
  8. i’m sure they can affect it. i read that sun shining directly at the camera can cause some misreads, but the range i was at has their stalls well shaded the monitor and i were in the shade, with the sun behind the building that houses the bays. i’m hoping i was doing something wrong, because this has the potential to be an awesome tool.
  9. I ordered the Rapsodo MLM on Amazon Prime day. it got delivered yesterday, and i got it out to the range today. after a few more range sessions and some tweaking, i’ll do an unofficial review with a full write up, but i wanted to get some initial impressions in here. the packaging, the monitor itself, and getting it set up are all great. it comes with an nice carrying case not unlike what a rangefinder comes with, and even a tech idiot like me can get it up and running in a few minutes i had a lot of issues at the range though, and wanted to see if anyone else who has used one could chime in here. i followed the setup instructions as best i could: monitor on flat ground, 8 feet behind the ball, lined up with the ball, phone in the cradle with the screen facing out. that was the initial setup and i sort of moved it around during the session as i was having issues. issue 1: missed shots. i think the monitor missed more than half the shots i took today. this sucked not only because it wasn’t working like it’s supposed to, but also because swinging then looking back hoping the shot was picked up got really distracting really quickly. it seemed to have no problem with partial swings. if i just took a half swing and punched a drive out into the fairway, it picked all of those up but really struggled with full swings. issue 2: accuracy past 200 yards. now this definitely isn’t me puffing my chest out and saying i hit booming 500 yards drives when the ball goes 250 maybe, but i know how far i can hit a golf ball when i tag it well, and the MLM was picking a lot of my drives up at 230-240? some were as short as 218 when i’m watching the ball bounce high off the fence that’s sitting 260 yards out. all in all, it was a pretty disappointing first time out for a product i was really stoked to use.
  10. haha i’m actually going to the range today with the new launch monitor to get some driver data
  11. if i don’t focus on de lofting my clubs at impact i’m in the “too high” camp last lesson, my 2i was about 185ft in the air when i found myself coming in with just a little added loft.
  12. man i don’t wanna bag this trip but looks like it could mess with thanksgiving if i’ve gotta quarantine.
  13. can you bypass the quarantine by getting a covid test? wife and i are driving up to Newport for a long weekend in November
  14. i’m liking it a lot so far. feels really natural in my hands. but the scotty i bought is too long, i’ve gotta get it cut down about 2”.
  15. this is an awesome topic! @cnosil that’s a great take - that everyone’s approach to the game and improvement speaks to their personality. i’m a life long athlete. D1 and semi pro baseball, nationally ranked weightlifter in my mid-late 20s. i’ve never taken on any athletic pursuit recreationally, i always want to figure out how to maximize my potential at whatever i’m doing. i held off on golf for a number of years even though my dad wanted me to play. i pretty quickly found out how far raw athletic ability can take me, and now i have to figure out how to actually play golf what i’ve always done in training is when i hit a plateau or can’t seem to make any progress, is i find one small facet and try to get 1% better at it during each training session. walking away from practice with a positive, no matter how small, is a great feeling.
  16. thank you, that’s exactly what i’m looking for
  17. i usually fly down to florida once or twice a month throughout the summer and fall to check on the house but haven’t been able to since the spring. it’s looking like when i do finally fly down there i’m gonna be stuck down for a while. like you said - i want off this ride.
  18. @Shapotomousthats a pretty damn slick setup!! very cool. how tall is the doorway? looks like you’ve got 2-3 feet collected on the floor? does that work well for deadening the balls and having them collect at the base of the net?
  19. i’m setting up a hitting bay in my garage without a ton of room, so it’s definitely doable. all you really need to do is bring your driver down to the basement and see if you can swing it comfortably. if you can, then start looking into nets/mats, etc. you could also cut a stick to 1-2” over your driver length and swing it around to test your clearance so that you don’t have to worry about damaging your club i say cut it over length because i’ve found that when people are testing their clearances, they get t-rex arms because they want the space to work. then when they swing the real thing, they’re hitting walls and ceilings.
  20. wow! that legit looks like it’s an abandoned course. i agree with @Lacassem - i’d have to be paid to play a round there. either that or loaned some clubs. although i bet if i bounced a drive off one of those hard pan fairway patches i could get it out to 400yds...
  21. that’s almost exactly what i was thinking. i’d love to see a picture of your setup if you have one.
