this is what i don’t really understand about the fascination with Bryson’s driving. rory, dj, koepka and finau run it out there pretty much as far as he does yesterday, Wolff regularly outdrove him is there something i’m missing?
-
another range session tonight. did i mention i love this club? worked on a bigger turn on my takeaway, and getting my hands lower before i release through contact. don’t mind my painting pants.

great round and great win for bryson. he played great golf just a thought, if he was +10 the announcers would be tearing him apart for the same scientific approach that they were seemingly in awe of over this whole round.

Rafa Cabera Bello-Switches Entire Bag Week of The US Open
Chip Strokes replied to Golfspy_CG2's topic in Golf Clubs
i tested the 7.0 in the standard PX shaft and then in the new project x LS 7.0 during my iron fittings they were both great - extremely stout, especially the LS, but they benefit from a very aggressive loading i ended up with the DG X7. a few grams heavier and more compatible with a faster swing that loads a little more smoothly. -
that’s the plan. then to figure out the driver
-
yeah surprisingly he’s consistently voted as the least likable

this is from back in 2013. all the more current lists have him up there just behind Sabbatini and Bubba

OGIO Convoy SE Cart Bag vs. Ping Pioneer
Chip Strokes replied to Chip Strokes's topic in Golf Bags & Carts
the hand-me-down bag i’ve been using would become my range bag. i really like the rubber cleats where the bag contacts the cart. the club i’m joining is cart only, so those will keep the bag from wearing out. -

OGIO Convoy SE Cart Bag vs. Ping Pioneer

@PMookie that little sliver of red behind the hanging pocket - is that where the cart strap goes? or does it just tuck in behind the hanging pocket and get clipped in place ? -
OGIO Convoy SE Cart Bag vs. Ping Pioneer
Chip Strokes replied to Chip Strokes's topic in Golf Bags & Carts
thanks for the input its sold out in charcoal (which sucks) so i’m considering it in either the haze or in black. 199 shipped makes it really attractive -
anyone have experience with these two? i know the Pioneer took top honors in the MGS Most Wanted, but the Convoy is damn good looking and 20% off on OGIO’s site right now. my only hesitation is Ping’s colorways are a lot nicer.

Graphite to steel for Iron shafts?
Chip Strokes replied to beelzeberto's topic in Golf Balls/Shafts/Grips
those damn drivers. i know that feeling all too well. it’s a valid question for sure, and i’m sure one he’d be happy to address with you. -
Graphite to steel for Iron shafts?

asking your coach for a few suggestions seems like a great place to start then. he has a better feel than anyone for how you load the shaft and what profiles are going to work best for your swing. not saying everyone here doesn’t want to help - they do and they’ll make great suggestions - but without seeing your swing and having that feedback they’re just educated guesses. -
Ancer’s caddy is ripping heaters on the course. so funny to see.

thanks man. i was hitting them well today. working on smoothing the swing out and delivering the face more consistently
-
took my new cobra UDI to the range today to really stretch its legs. man i love this thing so far.
-
damn @ejgaudette that’s a good looking range! i hit the range today as well but it definitely wasn’t that scenic
-
my driver (and putter ) was actually the main club that was costing me strokes. i’d slice a drive 50 yards right, sometimes OB, and be scrambling to save double i have a hard time rotating the club faced closed. that gets worse and worse the longer and faster the clubs get. thanks baseball! i’ve played the last 10 or so of my rounds without a driver in my bag at all. and i’ve scored better lessons this winter are aimed at figuring out how to square up the longer clubs and so far this is a good start

16.5 standard, set to 17.5

it definitely wasn’t in the Titleist U500 the choice came down to the cobra or the titleist U510 cobra won our because it’s adjustable. i can go 1.5* of loft in either direction i hit a few thin and a few fat today that held their line well, and still carried 225ish
-
i never did before, no. i struggle with fairway woods and hybrids though so this works nicely at the top of the bag for me. im comfortable hitting long irons though. i primarily tee off with a 3i or 4i, so a driving iron is a natural progression for me

just picked up my cobra driving iron and went straight to the range first of all, this thing is beautiful. simple head design, satin finish, nothing flashy. the tensei CK shaft is stout and very smooth. the glossy black pops against the satin head. i put about 50 swings on it today and was seeing long very straight ball flights, pretty much point and shoot at the start line i wanted. my usual miss is right, way right. i have a hard time rotating the club head closed. a few tweaks at my lesson yesterday had me wearing out the grooves in the middle of the face today, maybe with a slight heel side bias. even on the balls i didn’t hit great, shots held their line and only lost minimal yardage. seeing as this will be a club off the tee for me, i’m ok with 240 in the fairway instead of 275 on a tight par 4 through a breezy cross wind i was drilling the bottom of the driving range net, about 250 yards away according to my rangefinder. long story short, i’m in love. here’s some pictures and videos as a reward for reading all that. swing critiques welcomed
