  1. i’ve got two vokey sm8 wedges in jet black (48* and 52*) and @chisag’s GAPR mid on the way. buying clubs ahead of a holiday weekend was a terrible idea. waiting an extra day for shipping sucked
  2. i think what’s important to think about when you’re designing a site is that you’re really designing it for the golfer who’s never been to the course before. your usual clients know where everything is, where to check in, where to find the range and the practice areas, etc. give a clear layout, let people know everything you offer and where they can find it. list fees and rates for all services available. that way people aren’t flying blind when they show up and even though you can’t yet - (user friendly) online booking is the single best thing you can offer
  3. just grabbed an OW on Mercari for $75. should be here at the end of the week. i'm looking forward to it since i don't always get to the course early enough to hit a small bucket before my round. i hate feeling tight at the first tee box. i'll come back and share my experiences
  4. hey @cksurfdude this is a great thread and it looks like you’re getting the most out of your lesson package at GT. swing is coming along nicely man! if i may offer my 2 cents, and i’m only doing so because you mentioned Pete’s in your original post, when your package runs out you should check out Kirk Oguri the pga pro at Pete’s. i had my first lesson with him on Sunday and he was fantastic. i don’t mean in any way to hijack your thread, just wanted to pass along another great option. you can message me if that works better for keeping your thread on track
  5. yeah my buddy lives right on a course. once covid eases up and travel is a little safer i’m gonna get out there for a week or so. stay safe man!
  6. i lived over in Bellevue. you’re out there in the country! i’ve got a few friends in Wenatchee now though.
  7. that’s insane! i lived in washington for a few years and remember the smoke rolling in from wildfires back in 16 or 17...it was gnarly. hope you’re staying safe
  8. two back to back “shots of the day” made for my hole of the day on number 9 short par 4, 396. striped a driver 341 down the right side of the fairway. that left me with a 55 yard chip to a slightly elevated green. made good contact on a little lob with a 60*, landed a few feet short and got some roll. then i heard the words we all love to hear...”you don’t need your putter!” ball cozied up about 6” from the hole for a tap in birdie
  9. only hit one shot with each today, driver vs 3 wood so not an apples to apples comparison, but that’s how it played out
  10. i did one driver fitting and i’m going back for another after a few lessons. my driver SS is about 135.
  11. i don’t currently have any woods in my bag. i’m in the process of getting fit, and need extremely stiff and heavy shafts (phrasing) to handle my swing speed. got paired with a guy today who had these in his woods and he let me hit them. the results were two phenomenal tee shots. what do y’all know about these two?
  12. got out for a quick practice round today. played 2 balls for 11 holes before it was time to get home. i’ve got a newborn son and my wife deserves to be canonized for letting me get out to play. i hit the ball really well. wasn’t keeping score, just focused on good contact with my irons and chipping well around the green. guy i got paired with was bugging me to try his driver all day. finally gave in on 9: 396 yard par 4. drove it 341. chipped to within 6” for a nice tap in birdie. really solid way to close out the front 9
  13. i asked a question that was answered already earlier in the thread. i couldn’t find where to delete my post, so i just deleted the text.
  14. awesome, good to know. shirts should be in within the next few days. i guess i’ll update this thread when i get them
  15. i’ve been looking at driving irons to fill that slot, but for now i manage well without it. im sure the bag makeup will change 100 more times
  16. that’s the issue. my PW carries 160 so i’ve got some serious gaps to cover at the bottom of the bag.
  17. awesome. what club did your 5th wedge replace? how’s the setup working out?
  18. i don’t really think it’s all that serious, not every chirp has overarching societal implications
  19. i’ve definitely considered 5 being overkill and i’ve thought of the overlapping yardages but maybe i can explain why i’m thinking about going with a 5th wedge at the top of my bag, i’ve got a driver and a 3h. i don’t carry a 3w, it’s a club i just can’t hit and have found a way to not really need. then i’m gonna carry 4-P, with the 44* PW being a 155-160yd club. that leaves a lot of meat on the bottom end of the bag, and it also leaves me with 6 slots. so i figured i’d carry the 5 wedges and see what does and doesn’t work, and adjust from there.
  20. my brother in law has a bad habit of leaving putts short. every so often i’ll remind him that he dropped his lipstick as he walks towards the hole.
  21. curious if anyone games a 5 wedge setup. i’m playing around with the idea myself. i’ll likely go set PW, 48, 52, 56, 60 and see how that works out
  22. just came across this site with some basic color block polos for a ridiculous price point. picked up 4 shirts for $36. i love nike golf shirts but even on sale, they’re $40. i’ll update this thread when the 32Degrees shirts come in. here’s a link for now 32Degrees
  23. hey everyone. new guy here from queens, NY How long have you been playing golf? two whole months! my dad has been trying to get me to play for years, and i finally gave in back in July out of covid boredom What’s your handicap or normal score? i’m about a 22 handicap currently a good round for me is in the mid 90s What do you love about golf? i’m a former athlete (D1 baseball and nationally ranked weightlifter) and i love that golf is a competition against yourself What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? every time i read up on new golf gear i inevitably landed here i figured i might as well join Where are you from? What is your home course? i’m from queens, ny i don’t have a home track, but i mostly play Eisenhower Park What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? it’s tough to come up with a best i think to find really good golf, i’ve gotta drive upstate a bit i’ve got a few of those trips planned now that i’m into it the worst is definitely how crowded public courses are. What do you do for a living? commercial real estate How’d you pick your user name? just thought it was funny. i’ve belonged to a few forums and always try to go with a theme-appropriate pun for a handle
