  1. pretty standard across all sports. you’ve got guys who are extremely data driven and analytical and really dig into the process, and some who can’t be bothered with all that but just need to know that it works when it counts.
  2. he’s not the most eloquent guy, that’s for sure. at the beginning of the video he seemed annoyed about being interviewed but actually ended up having a decent back and forth with the guy.
  3. an excess of speed haha. my 7i SS is 108-110. driver is up around 135+ the nasty drawback to speed is that all your misses are magnified. the same miss that puts you 5-10 yards offline sitting in the first cut of rough puts me 40-50 yards offline and i’m dropping a ball.
  4. MG Dynagrip Elite - 10 for $70. or 10 for $80 if you want to personalize them.
  5. just got back from my iron fitting and i couldn’t be more excited i hit a bunch of head and shaft combos with the focus being creating a set of clubs that i can grow into as i refine my swing and get better. we ended up with titleist t100, standard loft, with dynamic gold x7 shafts 1* flat. good swings with the 7i were producing beautiful high baby draws carrying 193-196 in the air. i can’t wait to get them ordered up
  6. i played about a dozen rounds at the two cherry creek courses back in july and really liked them both.
  7. i swung the smoke green a few times, really nice shaft. i’d love to try the trono...supposedly it’s very smooth for being able to withstand such high speeds. i’ll have to ask my fitter if he has one
  8. the way you were describing it sounded all too familiar. i went out early (7:12 tee time) and it was still a mess.
  9. a really good coach will identify the most egregious error first and direct attention there. usually, that fix will snowball into allowing other things to be fixed as well. when i was coaching olympic lifting, with newer lifters who had trouble keeping a their spine angle and their knees driven out, id spend almost a full session on their breathing and bracing. lo and behold, once they knew how to breathe and when they were supposed to hold their breath, their backs magically stayed flat and their knees drove out away from each other.
  10. having coached various different sports professionally and semi-professionally, the biggest piece of advice i can offer is that your lesson should feel like a long conversation broken up by occasional golf swings. @chisag alluded to something a few posts ago - too much information at one time is extremely detrimental to learning. if your coach is feeding you more than one actionable cue on a given swing, then your ability to execute will be diminished greatly. a good coach will figure out how you learn first, and will meet you there when it comes to delivering information. some clients love technical cues. some love to do things by feel. some need a demo of either what they’re doing or what they’re supposed to be doing.
  11. OfferUp has been good to me lately. just grabbed a Precision pro NX7 with slope new in the box for $100
  12. @cksurfdude what course was that? i played Stonebridge a few weeks ago and it was like a shooting gallery. head had to be on a swivel the whole time
  13. enjoy the ride man! i’m going through the same thing myself right now. i picked the game up a few months ago with my dads 22 year old irons. i’ve got a second iron fitting tomorrow. excited to see what you end up with
  14. already having the former i’ll gladly take the latter!
  15. thanks for the input @adamflowers i read up on them, but manufacturer claims and firsthand experiences are two different things i don’t need help getting the balk in the air, so your suggestions are really appreciated, thanks!
  16. nike only sells their golf polos in a regular fit. it allows for some freedom of movement while you’re swinging but as a guy with an athletic taper from shoulder to waist, it just ends up looking baggy on me. you can get their tennis polos in athletic cut but i don’t have any to draw a comparison against https://www.32degrees.com i was actually looking at their rain jacket earlier. waterproof for $24? i’m not a cheap guy but i don’t see the sense in spending $100+ on something i’m going to roll in a ball and leave in my bag
  17. update: polos just showed up. they’re all super soft and more athletically cut than Nike polos. from the feel of them, i wouldn’t be surprised to see a $35 price tag on them, but that’s what i paid for all 4 the gray and pink are a kind of micro mesh material that seems kilt it will breathe really well. the purple and blue are similar to a dri-fit material. all of them are soft, stretchy, and lightweight.
  18. i’ve gotta get out to those...i’m getting tired of playing Eisenhower park haha
  19. even if they don’t hold up for more than a season, i’ve got no problem replacing them the following spring.
  20. i've never restored golf clubs, but i've got a few dozen classic cars and motorcycles under my belt. after getting through some of the heavier surface rust with BKF and steel wool (the more 0's in the steel wool, the finer it is and the more polished finish you'll get) i'd use something like Wenol blue polish to really shine the clubs up with a buffer attachment for either a dremel or a cordless drill. Collinite 850 would work really well also. https://www.autogeek.net/wenol2.html depending on what kind of a finish you want to keep on the clubs, you can always seal them with something like this. if they're only going to be used once in a while, this will keep rust from reappearing between those rounds. https://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-metal-sealant.html if you end up using them more than that, then after your normal post round cleaning, you can spray them down with windex and wipe clean with a microfiber towel. almost all automotive chrome sprays share an almost identical formula to windex, but at 3 times the price. i've entered cars in shows before detailed only with some windex.
  21. i think the most important question to ask is “why?” a good club fitter will want to educate you on why he’s choosing certain components for you to build the perfect clubs. i’d have a very hard time spending a considerable amount of money if the fitter couldn’t explain past “well look, the ball went straight”
  22. bingo. that was the part i left my fittings the happiest about.
  23. yeah i spent some time hitting at a range with top tracer back in july and if you were to take those distances to heart, it would be humbling to say the least. i was really striping long irons that were being clocked at 220-230 despite flying well past the 250 marker. is it the software? the dead range balls? probably a little column A and a little column B.
  24. 1. $135 for irons, $80 for wedges, $135 for woods 2. local boutique ship - Pete’s Golf. 3. i couldn’t be happier. it would be a bargain at twice the price. the guy who fit me was happy to work with the PGA pro on staff at the shop who is giving me swing lessons to make sure my clubs are perfect for my swing i don’t have an easy swing to fit. my 7i SS is 105-110. my driver is 135. i wouldn’t really trust some dude at Dick’s or the PGA tour superstore to get me dialed in
