  1. it was pretty cool to watch and the course/resort look incredible did anyone catch Gary Player’s rant about cutting down trees and wasting water?
  2. he hasn’t told a straight story from the jump. this feels so good
  3. oh my god i love it when a plan comes together!!!!
  4. well look what showed up today...stamp set is already on order. i can’t wait to personalize them
  5. your golf bag is a revolving door! no club is safe!!
  6. i could never do it. i always bulked dirty then came back down with cuts and maintenance being clean calories. i was also in my early and mid-20s so life was a lot easier. now i'm 32 and i keep myself in what i call "two week shape" where i'm at most two weeks of hard work away from being in top shape. makes life really easy when beach season rolls back around or you've gotta put a suit on that was tailored for you when you were in better shape haha
  7. everyone thinks so, until they realize just how much food it is. 5 eggs, two english muffins, and an avocado for breakfast comes out to a whopping....700ish calories give or take. and thats a really huge breakfast for most people.
  8. not surprised given you've been lifting for so long. if you weren't doing mobility work along with it you'd have been hurt a long time ago haha. have fun with the surplus calories, too. i've bulked before and it can start to feel like a full time job. when i was competing heavily i was eating around 4,200 cal a day, and that was just a maintenance number. i'm really excited to see your results!
  9. so you're mostly hypertrophy based in the gym...which is completely fine and will absolutely get you the mass numbers and increased strength you're chasing. i'd just caution you to add a yoga/deep stretching session on top of your plan of foam rolling to keep yourself fluid. mass will move the ball, but a golf swing won't benefit from stiffness. i competed for 5 years in CrossFit at the games level (i know, not everyones cup of tea) and then for 3 years nationally in olympic weightlifting. i feel like almost more important than the strength gains will be the ability to transfer that mass and speed into an object efficiently. i picked up golf in July, grabbed a driver and swung it 135mph. i credit that to years of training in core-to-extremity movements with a bigtime focus on staying mobile and flexible. i can squat 500lbs but can also sit and reach a foot past my toes. i'd cautiously estimate that most golfers can pick up speed and yardage without lifting a single weight. mobility will allow people to swing their clubs faster and more efficiently than they can now.
  10. just out of curiosity, what style of lifting do you gravitate towards? i have my theories on what sorts of training will translate more quickly and effectively to increased and sustainable swing speed (15+ years as a high level athlete turned coach and trainer), but don't want to impose any on you. i'm sure you have an approach in mind, just curious as to what that is. it's just amazing how this approach is so "revolutionary" in golf, when it's been happening for 25+ years across all major sports.
  11. thanks. this is the first time i've bought anything that had to be shipped via OfferUp and it's not likely i'll do it again.
  12. great read and a lot of important points. the big takeaway is that equipment, not matter how optimized, won't do the work for you. the best gym in the world won't get you in shape the same way the best clubs for you wont make you a scratch golfer. that being said, if i'm gonna go spend a big chunk of money on golf clubs, i want the confidence to know that what i'm swinging is going to be a good match for me now, and at least for the foreseeable future.
  13. another update: some very basic googling got me Calvin’s home phone number. i just got off the phone with his dad, real nice guy basically told him at this point if Calvin can’t produce proof that he sent my clubs, i’m gonna need a refund and that it can either come direct from Calvin now, or paypal can take it from his bank in a few weeks. dear old dad is gonna have a talk with Calvin
  14. most of the standard stamp sets are 36 pieces (A-Z, 1-9, period) i would just google the design you’re after. more than likely you’ll end up with a set or just a one off intended for jewelry stamping. https://www.thesupplyguy.us/product-p/SGWM-40.htm?gclid=CjwKCAjwwab7BRBAEiwAapqpTOJWwaBPFjVC87-rPkjaPaF8qlnwfiE5zcCtxt7mNcu33WEcldoSgxoCshYQAvD_BwE this guy has tons.
  15. back to the range with the new driving iron worked on a bigger shoulder turn on my takeaway and getting my hands lower through contact
  16. he keeps holding on to the fact that he hasn’t blocked my number as “proof” that he’s not ripping me off. sorry man, i operate on proof, not good faith. gonna have to do better.
  17. small update: the seller actually answered my texts today. i told him if he could just produce a tracking number that i could verify then id drop everything and wait patiently for my clubs big surprise: his mom lost the usps receipt! i told him i’m going ahead with the claims on both paypal and offer up and i’ll happily stop them if the clubs happen to show up. shop safely out there guys!
  18. my swing coach and fitter are from the same shop. my fittings and lessons have been happening concurrently and it’s been a really enjoyable process to keep trying better clubs as my swing evolves because they’re sharing notes and ideas with each other.
  19. water hazards at the 320 mark 10 yards to the right and left of the fairway. bryson, dj, brooks, rory, rahm, finau, and bubba will spend the whole week swimming.
  20. i wasn’t sure where to put this thread, so feel free to move it if it’s better served elsewhere. just don’t want anyone else to get burned back on 9/3 i came across a listing on OfferUp for 4 Vokey SM8 wedges in jet black finish. i already have a 56 and 60 on their way, so i asked the seller who goes by Calvin on offer up if he’d sell the 48 and 52. we settled on $230 for the two clubs shipped. he asked me to send the money via PayPal friends and family. i realize this is where i messed up. this was a thursday. i texted him friday to ask if he’d shipped them and he said he wouldn’t ship until the money hit his account. i texted him again tuesday 9/7 since that monday was Labor day. it took him until thursday 9/9 to respond to me. his first story was that work was busy and he would get things in the mail by the weekend. i texted him again saturday 9/11 and didn’t hear from him until monday 9/13. the story this time was that he was sick as a dog with a fever and the flu and couldn’t send things out, but that his mom dropped the clubs at USPS priority. when i asked him for tracking info, he didn’t have any. his mom couldn’t send it because she doesn’t know how to take pictures with her phone and he couldn’t get it because he lives far from her. i finally got back in touch with him today when, you guessed it, he’s dealing with a family tragedy and won’t be able to get the tracking info to me!! so now i’m at the point of going through my bank and starting the process of getting my money back via a lengthy bank chargeback. i should end up with my money. i’ve got several texts from him claiming the clubs were sent, and unless he can produce tracking info that checks out, the money will he pulled from his account and refunded to me. i know i screwed the pooch by sending money as friends and family, but i think it’s still important to shine a light on people like this.
  21. ordered 3 dozen last night an added bonus: you don’t even have to mark them ”mine’s the one that says practice!”
  22. if tiger came up with modern balls instead of balata balls he would’ve been hitting drives 350+ regularly. even now at 44 he’s hitting 315 yard drives.
  23. this is the part that sadly gets lost with all the attention his driving and body transformation gets he won the US open because he played the best golf in the field, not because of his monster drives. it’s gotta feel a little s***** (maybe the 2 million dollar check cools the sting a little) to play perfect golf thursday through sunday and all anyone can talk about is your diet and how far you hit the ball.
