  1. I'd like the Hole in one and Lefty tag. Thanks!
  2. GPS for me. I've found it provides the bare minimum I need when playing for distance. I'm too cheap to pay extra for slopes, etc. I tried a range finder that my brother in law had and I couldn't figure it out. his numbers were way different than mine, and while his may have taken slope into account, I wasn't comfortable.
  3. I once worked with a guy who, when I met him the first time, offered me a drink off of a bottle of Crown. I said no and he responded it wasn't a question. So I drank. Played golf with him a couple days later. His golf bag was a cooler. An actual cooler that looked like Mary Poppins' magic purse, as he kept pulling out whiskeys, beers, vodkas, mixers, and another thermos filled with bloody mary mix. On every hole was also left 4 jello shots. This was a fun crew. As for my personal preferences, I love a good Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, or any other wheat type beer. I'm not quite ready to jump on the spiked seltzer while golfing train just yet.
  4. I honestly don't understand this. I think winning is more important, and I wonder if some of the better players that don't care about winning would be happy earning money here. I can see them trying to promote Ricky, and he isn't winning, but he probably has a lot of social media "points". Maybe let a winner take over the PGA social media site for a couple of days, and pay them for that. I'd much rather watch people like Collin McCarthy, or GM_Golf, or golf trick shots, or even Rick Shiels on social media. DJ (without Paulina) doesn't get my interest.
  5. I feel you. I've been jacking with my swing so much trying to improve rotation, that I feel it's gotten worse.
  6. Unless I'm playing in some type of stroke play tournament, I almost always hit driver, unless driver may reach water, or other hazard. Also, I've played so long without a fairway wood, until recently, I would rather choke down, half swing a driver than a full 3W. I pull hook both, and would rather pull hook 30 yards further with a driver.
  7. If you are leaving the boundary of the course, then I have no problem with the penalty. It has even cost me in a tournament. I’m not mad the OB is there. I was mad I’ve played courses where there are internal OB stakes and I don’t agree with those. You shouldn’t be penalized the same way.
  8. Historically the best putters had great feel, and didn’t putt this way but I understand it really wasn’t a thing decades ago. If this was truly like a cheat code then more guys would do it. Maybe Horschel should start playing this way and if he starts winning all the time then he proves his point. Otherwise he can keep having a hissy fit at Augusta and let the rule makers change the rules if they agree
  9. You guys are intense and it's really cool. Maybe I need to prepare a little better if there's a course I've never played before. I've had good luck with 18Birdies seeing yardages as I go to a hole I've never played for the first time. I have the free app so it doesn't tell elevation etc, but I'm not totally competitive at this point.
  10. We had a junior rec program every Monday during the summer. It was either golf or soccer, and I knew soccer wasn't going to be in my future, so $2 to play, $1 rental, $2 for 2 hot dogs and a soda. Played every Monday for 3 months, then my dad tried to play with me the following year. I spent my entire summers either golfing or playing basketball for the next 9 years. No lessons until I went to a school that had a Professional Golf Management program. I've had maybe 10 lessons in my life, and should probably take some more pretty soon, since I want to be a little more competitive.
  11. Good afternoon My name is Jeremy Dubay and I was from Maine, but now live in NC. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? This is the 35th year since I first picket up a club, but only really played about 20 of those years (first wife hated golf). I'm currently a 6.3 What do you love about golf? Getting out and walking, challenging myself every time I go out. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I like the information about everything golf. It's a one stop shop so to speak Where are you from? What is your home course? Pinehurst, NC. No home course, but I play a local 9 since it's only $14, but if I buy a 10 play, it's only $10 per nine. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? I'm in Pinehurst, so that's the best. The worst is that there isn't really a good 9 hole course or weekday 9 hole league (not that I've found yet) What do you do for a living? IT professional for a place in Maine. Covid forced me to work from home, and they let me keep my job when I moved How’d you pick your user name? First name, last Initial. Not too inventive
