Kube107 got a reaction from Nick_D in What's the best tip you have ever received, and how did it change your game?
I took a 3 Credit Hour Golf class in college.  The instructor was a Golf Digest published Philosophy professor.  He corrected everything from my grip and stance to how to create and maintain a preshot routine.  He taught me how to find my contact point and track club distances.  We worked on how to analyze rounds by keeping track of fairways hit, short game stats and everything in between. But the one thing he said makes you better is to just PLAY! and keep playing.  Strangely enough he rarely talked about Philosophy.  Initially the more I played I got alot worse.  I went from shooting 98 - 105 to suddenly I was shooting 115 - 132 and it was horribly frustrating but I tracked everything and he said keep playing.   Suddenly, everything "clicked".    I was shooting in the mid 90's and then broke 90 and eventually, a few years later and alot of playing, broke 80.
    Bottom line.  Just play.

I can tell you the best tip I've given when asked by once-per-week players on how to improve.
    "Quit Golf"
If you're not going to put in the practice time and physical conditioning, you're not going to improve.  There's no magic words.

Since I live in upstate NY I would love to see the OnCore Vero X1/X2 models.  I played the 2021Vero X1 and it is long off the tee but I wasn't happy around the green.  Very curious how they stack up.

... MGS Ball Testing says Titleist ProV1 sets the standard for quality and performance and I doubt anyone can find any fault with that claim. After playing about 10 rounds with Maxfli Tour balls, I put some ProV1's into play for 5 rounds then went back to Maxfli Tours for another 10. At my level of play, I just can't tell much difference if any at all. The Maxfli Tour is just so good at everything and the only difference I might have seen is the ProV1 is just a little more durable. I bought 2 dozen Maxfli Tours for $60 after MGS gave them such high marks and then went back and took advantage of the 4 dozen for $104 deal. That's 4 dozen Maxfli Tour for the cost of 2 dozen ProV1's so for non tour players that don't get balls for free, if you play 5 times a week and even once a week that is a substantial savings for balls that I can honestly not tell apart.

... I also always use the CG alignment on the tee and on the greens but do not "line up putts", I just make sure it is pretty much in the direction I am hitting/putting. I really can't say if it makes any difference but if Maxfli went through the trouble to find the CG, I figure why not use it. At the moment I think it is the best ball deal going.

It been pretty quiet in here so I will start it up again.
I'm a newby here at MySpy.  Love the content and hope to be a tester of something in the future.
    Anyway here goes:
How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?   I have been playing since I was 10 years old.  Currently a 12 handicap but have been as low as an 7.  Best round ever was a 72 at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach.
What do you love about golf?  The challenge, the joy, the emotion you can feel in one round.
What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?  I love the reviews.  I found it originally because I was concerned I had purchased a set of counterfeit irons online.
Where are you from? What is your home course?  Just moved to Olean, NY from Elmira, NY.  Still consider Mark Twain Golf course my home course.  I assure you, It is not a good walk spoiled.  I ran a league there for over 10 years.  It is a great Donald Ross municipal course.
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?  This may be the worst area just because the season is so short.  It is the best because there is nothing that compares to the beautiful scenery of Fall golf in the Finger Lakes of NY state.

How’d you pick your user name? Nickname and House number.  Kinda lame, I know.
