  1. I usually carry about a dozen balls in my bag. Typically have my bag on my Motocaddy electric cart so weight isn’t a concern. When I carry my bag, I’ll only have 8 balls.
  2. Currently using Shot Scope V3. Started in 2019 with the V2 and switched to the V3 in 2020. Initially, I was intrigued by the ability to track distances for each club. I focus on the Performance Average since it weeds out the terrible misses and approximates the most likely outcome for each shot. The ability to focus on the most recent 10 or 15 rounds helps as we move from winter into warmer weather. Shots gained data really helps guide practice toward areas of my game that need the most improvement. This has really helped monitor the effectiveness of practice sessions and validate recent equipment purchases.
  3. My golf balls RX-S arrived in the mail while I was out of town for the weekend. As a guy who hits the ball lower and with less spin than some of the guys that I play with, I am looking for a ball that gives me more control around the green, and a few more options than a simple chip and run shot. Excited to try the mindset features to better focus my mind on the game while on the course. Yesterday, I took them to the putting green as soon as the car was unloaded from our trip to watch the eclipse. Today, I played my first round of golf with the new balls. So far, so good. Had my best round of the year! Time will tell whether it was the ball or the player, but right now, I am looking at the ball, especially around the green. Wonderful feel. As a Shot Scope user since 2019, I have a lot of data to compare against. More updates to come.
  4. I've never played Bridgestone but am interested in their recommendation for my game.
  5. The pros are more aggressive in pursuing drops from sprinkler heads, drains, and the like than I am. Like you, I play the ball down and have hit some excellent shots from lies that others are rolling the ball into a better lie. I recognize that the pros are playing for more than a couple of bucks but we are all looking for a level playing field. I’m a volunteer course rater in Kansas and it’s really hard to fully accommodate Course conditions into a rating.
  6. Our course has been without reasonable grass for a year and now they seem to be mowing only once a week. Fairway lies vary from bare to flier. Some are playing winter rules and several club championships have used winter rules. It’s hard to watch the drops the pros take and think that we should play the ball as it lies!
  7. I belong to a club. 1. Pace of play is much better than our local public courses. 2. Our normal group is usually 8 to 16 players so I play with a variety of different guys each day. 3. Condition of the course is better than most local public courses.
  8. I'd chip with a 48* wedge. Hands forward and play for a fair amount of roll. The uphill will deaden the chip some.
  9. happier with the decision to get some battery assistance for my golf bag. Hope to be walking for another 10 years or longer!
  10. I'm 62 and walk when I play. In the winter months I stay warmer by walking and pity the guys riding in open carts. My Motocaddy showed up a few weeks ago and has really made my walks much more enjoyable! After 18 holes I have enough energy to go home and mow the lawn. Couldn't be
  11. I have a Callaway Rogue 7 wood 215 yds and 5 wood 230 yds. My driver is around 260 on a good strike on firm fairway. The 7 wood flies extremely high with a carry of around 200 yds. The 5 wood is great for second shots on par 5 holes. It has a respectable carry and a good rollout. I struggle with it from the tee but am working to understand the changes needed to manage it from the tee.
  12. I’m a low ball hitter, so I added a 7 wood to carry a creek on a par 5 on my local course. Now I get on in two more often! Love seeing the ball flying high and landing softly with minimal rollout. Total distance is similar to my 4 iron but the trajectory is much different. Also the carry distance is greater. Depends on the courses you play and wind conditions.
  13. Callaway makes a Rogue 7 wood for left handed golfers. I bought mine for a shot over water from a downhill lie from a 3 hybrid distance. I can fly the 7 wood almost as far as I hit the 3 hybrid including a lot of roll. Love it!
  14. I picked up a Callaway Rogue 7 wood to replace a 21 degree hybrid. Much better carry distance and slightly better total distance (220 vs 215). Really easy to get airborne. This club is great out of the rough! Does appear to be closed but is actually square to the target line. I have to trust the line and play the ball toward the middle of my stance. I also added a 5 wood that is easy to hit off of the fairway but only about 10 yards longer than the 7 wood. Enjoy your search.
  15. I got fit for the 921 Hot Metal Pro model. My typical miss is a thin shot and these are very forgiving on thin shots. Heavy shots still come off pretty well, too. The biggest complaint is that sometimes they go too far! The shaft fitting tool is amazing. It recommended two shafts that were in stock at the time. One gave an immediate 5 yard improvement from my fitting! The shaft selector tool recommended traditional irons from 6 iron on down and Fli-Hi for the 4 and 5 irons. As a 4 handicap player I wanted to keep a 5 iron in the bag so I ordered both clubs. I play the Fli-Hi now because it is much better for my swing profile. TRUST the fitter!!! I’m still trying to improve my iron play but these clubs are worth 2 or 3 additional GIR each round.
