  1. That’s great @Rob Person! I will look for it on IG and YT. Is your handle the same as here?
  2. Spent a quality 30 mins on the sim with short irons, working on dialing in a consistent swing. First, I did about 15 shots with a prolonged pause at the top of my backswing. Then I worked on several things with GW thru 9i - avoiding an early release and maintaining angle at impact, sequencing my hips/hands/shoulders at impact and follow through, and ensuring I turn my wrists over consistently through the swing to have the face angle correct ar impact. This is just one session, but by the end I had gained 10 yards with the 9 iron. I hope to do this work consistently until the upcoming member-guest in mid September. I reallly need to start hitting my irons more accurately and fingers crossed this work is the ticket. I also need to dial in an easy and consistent driver swing. It was all encouraging. Hoping a month of consistent work will pay dividends. Of course I know the work won’t stop then.
  3. Love that @azstu324! Your commission check from GW surely is in the mail. I have a Ke4 TC Pro driver with a 60g XS Hzrdus Smoke Black shaft ordered from the Bay waiting for me to pick up from the office. Excited to give it a whirl and see how it performs. I predict the head at least makes its way into my backup set, or FABWIFE’s new set. I have lots of OP shafts to try with it too ….
  4. Good morning Spies! Good to hear you are feeling better @sirchunksalot! Too bad you have to go back to work. Ha. Hoping to do some swing work today around work commitments. Wishing you all fabulous days!
  5. Congrats testers! Watching with great interest.
  6. Saw this on the FB. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/sYn8HhZFcUNVGSAD/?mibextid=QwDbR1 Probably not the first, and no surprise these are here. Pretty cool IMO. Hope jobs are not lost. Maybe this frees crews up to do more significant maintenance. But prob not. Would someone still have to follow along to send the mowers into timeout to let golfers play through? And of course some idiots would use the mowers for target practice. If I was a course owner and saw that … bad days for the offending golfers. Ha.
  7. I jarred one earlier this summer but it bounced out. No HI1 for me!
  8. Date 08/09/2024 Course Name Harrison Lakes Country Club Gross Score 79 Course Rating 70.5 Course Slope 131 Gross Strokes over/under par 8 Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 288 My back is getting better and my swing came around on the back 9 for a 41-38-79. It was a beautiful day, and not being drenched in sweat helped too. If only a few more birdie putts would have fallen. No complaints though! It was a great time.
  9. Huge congrats @Rob Person on the PB. Well done!
  10. Good morning Spies! Gray day here, which facilitates a full work day. Golf Thursday, Friday, Sunday on tap! Excited. Thanks to you and the staff @GolfSpy_APH! Eager to hear what you have cooking. Good luck with the move @CSiders12! Wishing you a quiet day @Northern Monkey. Stayed up way way too late building irons last night. Preview pic below. It’s amazing what an extra 1/2” does to Swingweight. It’s a challenge for me at least. And the occasional butt end weights - even 1/8” sticking out - mess up the lengths when lined up so it looks like I measured poorly even though I was very careful. It won’t matter in play, but the perfectionist in me wishes I had gone back and cut off an xtra 1/8”. Anyway, I think they are turning out well. Need to finish gripping the rest, fine tune weights with tape if needed (I am so fussy lol), and then turn the ferrules. I may game them before the ferrules bc I cannot wait! (Maltby TS1 heads (used) and KBS Tour 120S shafts.)
  11. Good morning Spies! No golf for me today, but hoping and planning for at least 54 holes between Thursday and Sunday. Congratulations to @Byrnzee for the PB! Happy birthday @David Leighton Reid! I hope you enjoy the new car @sirchunksalot! Finally, please stay safe, and thank you for keeping your fellow citizens safe @Northern Monkey. I hope things calm down for you soon.
  12. I picked up a SwingW digital Swingweight scale. Will use it for my upcoming build, and fixed the SW of my current gamers, which had some shocking outliers.
  13. Congratulations to the winners! Well done.
  14. Thanks @EnderinAZ! We get in around 7:00 so fingers crossed it will be ok!
  15. Good morning Spies! Good luck with the Link @GolfSpy_APH! And glad all is well after the weather @sirchunksalot! FABWIFE and I are off to Tucson tonight. I have to go for a meeting. Lots of friends at the meeting too so it should be a good weekend. The back is slowly getting better, which allowed me to play the course at our new club for the first time yesterday. It was very enjoyable despite the crazy heat and humidity. I think FABWIFE may start playing again! I wish you all super days. Fairway and greens in all respects!
  16. Date 07/31/2024 Course Name Harrison Lake Country Club Gross Score 83 Course Rating 71.6 Course Slope 133 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 280 71.6/133 This was my first round at HLCC. I really like this course. It’s beautiful, pretty open fairways, lots of hills, and multi-level undulating greens. 95° and 100% humidity. Sweat would drop off my hat onto the putter. Lol. The round started strong, but iron play deteriorated as the game progressed. I saved a lot of bogeys with a strong short game. This was overall another very enjoyable time, but a frustrating score. I’m starting the search for a grooved, consistent swing. If I find it I know the scores will come. How many of us have said that to ourselves? Man oh man.
  17. I am in the same boat as @Josh Ross. I too game the PX LZ, and it is often great, but even when my back cooperates I struggle to hit GIR. I have been planning to build a set of Maltby TS1 irons, and I flirted with graphite (as I wrote about here), but I keep coming back to the fact that the best feeling, clearly most accurate, and most consistent club in my bag is my TS1 gap wedge with my previous gamer shaft - KBS Tour 120S. I have had red Miura [EDIT: Iomic!] grips and custom red BB&F ferrules waiting for my next build for over a year. So I pulled the trigger on a set of KBS Tour 120S Custom Black shafts for this build. I think this will be a good looking combo. Fingers crossed they perform as well as I think they will. If they do, I may reshaft my TS3s too.
  18. Thanks @Indy_Oz! Yes - rehab is working. Hope to be fully better in a few weeks. And maybe the game will round back into shape!
  19. Date 07/26/2024 Course Name Sahm Gross Score 86 Course Rating 70.2 Course Slope 110 Gross Strokes over/under par 16 Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 0 Played through significant pain, and it shows. I feel much better today and had a redemption round scheduled and the course closed due to a heavy rainstorm that came through mid morning. So, this is my very disappointing score. I apologize to my playing partner @2puttbogey. You deserve better. 70.2/116
  20. Still aceless. I had my closest miss last weekend playing with @GolfSpy_BEN on a 150+ yard par 3. My iron shot jarred the cup on the fly and ricocheted against the pin, jumping off the green to the left. The pin or cup left a pretty nasty scuff on the ball too. What an odd and bittersweet series of emotions: "That felt good. Looks good. Is this happening? Oh my G...!!! Wait, what? Did that just ...? Aw man. I'm chipping now?" Still hoping . . .
  21. You got it. Now that you know to look for them, they will be like blue minivans. You will see them everywhere on Dye designs.
  22. Great round @Indy_Oz! Holliday Farms looks great and tough. One quibble though. How can you share an Indy area Pete Dye course and not include pics of railroad ties? Lol.
  23. Good morning Spies! No golf for me today. Just a bunch of work, but that is the fuel that feeds the golf addiction. Had my first chiropractor appointment ever yesterday to try to begin addressing my chronic lower back problem. The good news is that golf is not the cause, and the issues are primarily mechanical, not spinal/joint/nerve damage. I’m supposed to be back to normal in 8-10 weeks if all goes well. We started down the path of “no golf during therapy,” but I’m pretty sure the look on my face forced a modification on that front. instead I was told to take it easy on the course and have fun. That I can manage. It all kinda seems like voodoo to me if I’m being honest. But if it works who cares? Great start and tourney round @Northern Monkey! Nice form @Wasper007 and glad you are pain-free. With additional inspiration from @ILMgolfnut I hope to rejoin you in some golf-based fitness work soon. I wish you all super days Fairways and greens!
  24. Flight II (not me) dropping some Flight I - like scores getting ready for a hardcore mid season VCT!
  25. Not exactly practice, but have been wondering about gaining some distance by gaming a lighter iron shaft. I have not totally given up on graphite, but an expert club builder I trust has tried to talk me out of it saying the low-torque, lighter weight steel shafts (in the 105g range) are better for playing golf than the higher torque graphite shafts. I gamed MP 223s I was fitted into in spring 2023 with KBS Tour Lite 100S shafts yesterday. I gained some distance, but the frequent hooks confirmed these were not stiff enough, even for my high-average swing speed (not super fast). It also confirmed this was a failed fitting. Even my really good swings yielded too much draw, and while I cannot always put a good swing on, I do know the difference. So I hoped to try a few today at PGATSS. On the list: KBS Tour Lite XS (110g), Modus 3 105 XS (112g), and Accra iSteel Green (105 - variable flex, but aiming for S or X). None were available in the demo bays. I did hit the (a) best of the bunch Modus 3 105 S (106.5g) with good distance but still too many hooky draws, (b) C Taper Lite (too boardy - not for me - 10-15 yards shorter than my gamer PX LZ), and (c) $-taper Lite S (100g) which was just all over the place. I know the gentleman who runs the Studio at the local PGATSS. So I shot him an email to see if he has the preferred shafts to try. Hoping I can do so. At least I ruled several possibilities out. That's still progress.
