Came home from church this morning and hit some balls in the garage. I’ve got a heavy canvas drop cloth that I hit into which has a vertical seam that I use as a target line. Worked on face control by trying to hit one right, one left and one straight at my target line. Checked out a couple videos from AMG’s YouTube that @Riley24 made me aware of. Couple things in the explanations just clicked with me. Felt like my eyes were opened lol! Hit some more balls this evening and it was the most pure, flush, stripe show (for 6 feet) I’ve experienced.

Three straight weekends painting my basement. Walls were all wood paneling so we sanded and cleaned up the first weekend, and also ripped out the 80s wet bar. Tried out a sprayer for the actual painting and did both the walls (white) and ceiling (black). Found it pretty good for doing the ceiling but lots of spray settled onto things below. All in all not sure I’d go that route again for rooms. I’m trying to decide now if I have enough energy to bike over to the course with my son for some work on the putting green.

Can you click into this a little? What’s an effective way of working on face angle? Should I start with something like 30yd pitches to develop square feels? Do you advocate for over exaggeration drills like alternating open and closed?

Most of the drills I have seen have you put an alignment stick between you and a target.  You then setup square and work on starting the ball left, right, and over the stick.

While I have learned and personally attempt to hit a stock shot, this is why learning to work the ball is helpful.   Basically learn how to start the ball in different directions from a square setup since face controls the direction the ball launches.  This will build the feel you need to hit a stock ball flight.

I stopped by the local PGA Tour Superstore to take a look at some clubs I’ve been researching. I’ve had it in my mind something like a P790, MP245 or T200 is probably the right class of club for me. When I hold those though I struggle with how chunky they look at setup. The MP243 was the only “next step” they had in the store and it looked so much better to me when side by side. It’s more so that I held one and felt confident when I looked down vs unsettled. I’ve had OLD TaylorMade LCG irons forever and I’ve never felt settled when I try out newer clubs because of the size, thickness and offset. How much should I let something like this influence?

I won’t rehash it all in a oost here.

But i had nearly an hour long ohone discussion with Lance about this very topic 2 years ago.   Lets sum up the call by saying i was dizzy afterwards from all the Spin he was throwing at me about his clubs not being on the USGA approved list and they aren’t. So take what you may have heard with a very small grain of salt.

Opened the new (to me) clubs when I got home from work and had to stop at the range to try them out. Hit 5-7 balls with each of 4-AW to get a feel for distances and tendencies.

I did a PXG fitting last fall and appreciated the experience. Ended up buying a Gen 5 driver that I’ve been super pleased with this year. The irons have just been so weird looking to me. Couple with the cost and they haven’t really been on the radar. These Gen 7 are really clean though! I’d still probably look at several other brands first at the price point.

I really like the Tour AD chart for visually representing the relationship between their offerings. Does anyone know of a visual or interactive tool that does this across manufacturers?

Overspark07 got a reaction from cksurfdude in How'd you play?
Played another 9 at the par 3 course today with my dad and sons. Hard to top days like that. Didn’t play particularly well, 3 GIR and 0 pars to go with 8 bogeys and a double. Most exciting thing today was the 10yo tied me for the round, by far his best showing.
I’ve been playing around with AimPoint in practice, but feel really self conscious doing it on the course. However, I committed to it for the last several holes. My distance control is what needs the most attention but I find that when I trust the aiming I’m able to focus a little more on the distance.

@Abd56ullah I definitely like to be more analytical than “feel”’when it comes to short game stuff. So following from Dave Pelz and as @JDHolmes suggests I track my average carry and total distance for chip and pitch from roughly 7 and 8 o,clock-ish for my 9 to my 58
There’s definitely some overlap but that gives me versatility on club choice.
    I track both

I agree that it is a strategy that has good merit, one which I've used and seen success with. I think my tendency, particularly as relates to distances, is to consider what my best is with any given club. The reality for me at the moment is that my best might be as much as 10-15 yards over average. By picking an alternative further target, I might still be applying the same poor calculation of using my best distances, but it's caused me to club up and I've now fitted the flag target closer to my average shot. It's a tactic that works, but personally, I'd like to correct my reasoning about targeting in the first place.🤷‍♂️
