I game the 0211 and went to hit them and the gen 7s side by side with my 0211s.
I almost sprang for the 7s but the cost was higher than I'm willing to spend.
The black ops vs the 0211 xcor2s felt almost identical to me hitting junk range balls. I was getting 5 to 6 more yards with the BO and even the fotter remarked how it's a super hot face. He's got a cleaner swing than mine and was hitting the 7 iron 215.

Ha I knew that would ruffle a feather. I have some I use them occasionally but for the life of me I can't seem them in flight and we already have leaves falling so all but maybe 3 months of the year I'm trying to help him find a yellow ball in yellow leaves. If my eyes could see it in flight it wouldn't be so bad.
I mean it could be worse. The srixon divides give me epileptic seizures off a chip and when putting.

    Has no one warned him!
Look at his photo in the Vice Iron testing. He rides a skateboard on the golf course, has a head cover with hair on it and he calls a guy with a yellow ball a weirdo. 🤣🤣

Off Map Oscar got a reaction from jbern in Should your handicap dictate your tee box selection?
TLDR: your second shot should be a 7 iron or higher loft on most par 4s. If it's not move up. If it is. Challenge yourself occasionally by moving back.
    Long winded version.
Sunday I was stuck behind two groups that were slowwww. Group 1 was a twosome in a cart that was really struggling to put a ball in play.  The group behind them was some early 20s walking but playing from the blacks (furthest back). One guy belonged there. The other 3 were not getting the distance or straightness off the tee.

The two in the cart actually called it at 9 but we all had the Marshall talking to us before the 5th hole. We actually were playing so slow that day that my group of 4 gave up playing stroke and converted to a scramble with 2 mulligans per hole and we were still waiting on every tee box for the foursome walking. Total time was 5.5 hrs to play 18. We were annoyed as possible to be constantly getting iced waiting so long. But our entire attitude changed when we converted to a scramble and had one of the wife's drop off a bottle of 4 roses 🤣. Honestly one of the most fun days I've had playing golf cause there were zero Fs to give.
My local courses do these colors.
    Red
    Yellow
    White
    Blue/Black
Long winded point here is a lot of people have ego wrapped up in tee location.
If I play with a newer guy we do one of two things. I play the tees that fit his driving style or we do a tee ball scramble from the whites. If everyone can generally drive 250 ish we will play the backs.
The super slow group of 4 younger guys.  Should have been playing whites or yellows. The one good guy should have come down to their level not them up to his.
I'm a big man I should play the hardest tees is a feeling I've seen a lot. And the misconception that the forward tees are the ladies tees doesn't help that.
So instead of handicap why not 2nd shot distance? Handicap doesn't indicate how well your drive goes. I've got one buddy that can hit 280 fairly consistently but can't hit an iron at all. He's a 37 handicap. If he played the forward tees he would drive every par 4 and never get thr option to hit the irons he struggles with. He's also pretty new.
If your 2nd shot on most par 4s is a 7iron or something higher lofted. You're at the correct tee. Challenge yourself and move back one. If your second shot on most par 4s is a long iron or wood. Move up.
And stop calling them the ladies tees.
And those that stick to one color of tee are really screwing themselves out of great golf. I have played almost every course within 2 counties of me. Roughly 24 courses. I'm now working my back thru all of them playing a different tee. And it's a completely different experience every round! We have a local 9 hole that I love to go around the backs and then the forwards. It's crazy how completely different the course plays when you add or subtract 25 yards.
Hell just typing this out the next time I play there I'm  going to change the tees every hole. Start one at the forwards and move back one each hole then reset. I bet it'll be awesome.

It’s easy to have strong opinions. It’s important to remember that we don’t have to hold an opinion about anything.

One of my scramble partners was fit two years ago at CC and of all the irons he tried, PXG won.

Thats gonna look good. The neon letters vs the white shaft to that grip will stand out for sure.

I was so tempted to go for a full color splat too but ended up doing a white on, on white only cause the other colors were price increase I didn't want. I did the acid lime grips tho.  Crisp and Clean with a touch of obnoxious. It fits my style 🤣

I ended up with a demo set of golf pride align max and like them a lot over the standard align grips. Might swap back to those in 2025 when they release them for real. Wish they did more colors but sei la vi

Just spoke with Wade on the fitting for these clubs and he was great. Since I'd already ordered we went over some of my numbers and what I had previously been  fitted into. Ended up standard lengths and -.5 on lie. My current shaft is a true temper 115 s300 and I like them a lot but I wanted to go graphite this time so getting the 95 whiz.

    Nice.

How does the sound compare to your old ones on each shot? Maybe a video with the phone right next to the ball with every 3rd club and  then the same shot with your old ones for comparison would add to the test. I've watched all the videos I can find on these so far and they sound great but it's deceiving cause they only hit the one brand and the speaker and compression change sound a lot.

If you aren't gonna put again try some just off bump and runs with the 8 iron. One thing I've noticed with super game improvements vs player distance irons is the short bumps on the game improvements tend to lay flatter and are a little harder to control distance on. I attributes this mostly to the loft differences. I like my 9 iron in the game improvements I have but find the 8 in my mizuno set to be more contolled.

Hi guys new here first forum post!

Ordered the VGI02’s last week (7/aug) had contact with vice with a lead time as the website states longer than usual production rates, they were great and replied with a 3-4 week lead time! So excited as these will be my first ‘proper’ set of clubs.
Been playing hand me downs this year, my first year actually on the course, prior I had just been to the driving range, so I think the excitement of my own stamp on the colours etc that vice offers is gunna give me such a boost to go and learn my swing more and enjoy my time on the course with ‘my’ clubs
    can’t wait!
p.s Tom those red VGI01’s with the black shaft and red grips look so damn goo!

Off Map Oscar got a reaction from GolfSpy SAM in Southwest: CA, NV, UT, AZ, HI
Hey all. Another new guy here from Northern Utah. I've been  following mygolfspy since I started playing golf on my birthday last year. So I've been playing for about a year now and I find several interesting posts here and finally decided to register.
I own an off road race team called Off Map Racing. Check us out on the web, IG and FB. My Co-Driver and crew chief played when they were younger and talked me into going out with them one time. And unfortunately for my pocket book I became immediately hooked. Ordered a set of the strata clubs on prime day and figured out the reason that callaway doesn't put their name on them. Build quality was awful.  Sent those back and ordered a full bag of Bombtechs. For the price they were lightyears better than thr strata set and the customer support was amazing.  I originally ordered regular flex and ended up considering stiff. Instead of making me order a set they just sent me the stiff set and told me to keep whichever one fit my game better. So I played the majority of 23 with them. I signed up for a handicap 2 weeks in as I figured it was a good way to track progress. And started near 40. Ended the 23 season at roughly 26.
Over the winter I put a simulator in my garage and went to practicing religiously. I telework so I can usually get 36 holes on e6 in and whatever club I decide to focus on for practice. I figure it's about 500 strokes a day ish.
Spring sprung and I decide to take advantage of PXG fitting and their military pricing in April and my handicap was about 25 at the time. This fitting was a game changer for me as I started hitting things a lot cleaner. I went from 100 stroke game to breaking 80 for the first time just before my birthday in July.  I've now shot several rounds at the 80 mark with a few 9 hole rounds only 2 over. With the update from last week I will be sitting at a 10.3 handicap. I've posted 47 scores this year so far and no intention of slowing down. Currently I play men's league on Hill AFB every Thursday and at the Barn on Wednesdays. Also enrolled in the PGA hope lessons and have gotten some great help there with even more lessons on the calendar.
My version of ADHD allows me to hyper focus on things that are difficult for me. And golf is as frustrating as it comes.
Currently I am gaming the following:
    Driver. PXG blackops 10.5 stiff
    3w. Taylormade Stealh HL
    3&4h. PXG black ops
    Irons 5-PW PXG 0211 xcor2s
Wedges Taylormade high toe 3 in copper. 50* 54* 60*
Putter. Depending on day. LAB mezz 1 max broomstick or a PXG Battle Ready 2 Closer. Mostly the broomstick as I just got it a few weeks ago.
One of the reasons I registered finally is I've been stealing great information from here since I started and found the thread on the official testing of the new vice irons right after I placed my order for a set and figured it was time to finally contribute some information to the pile when those come in.

Goals for the remainder of 2024.
    Break 75.
    Single digit handicap.
Learn to hit a cut on purpose. I've  got the slice figured out.🤣
Play every course North of Salt Lake. Out of the 22 I know about I'm only missing 1 that's been a struggle. So if anyone wants to help a brother get onto the Ogden Country Club for a round I'd be eternally greatful.
I play a lot on Hill and if anyone hasn't had a chance to play there and wants to let me know. I'll gladly sponsor you onto the base to experience a round out there.
I also play at the Barn a lot.

Went and did 12 holes last night to get a bit more used to the clubs.

I took @Shrek74's advice and played from the forward tees last night. I've never tried this before but it is astounding how a few feet makes a difference. I made sure to use the irons off of the tee every time to force myself to try something new. I found that my 5 iron (previously a club I could never get on with) was amazing off the tee. On the picture above I got the tee shot past the trees on the left and onto the fairway.

Second shot was 190 yards from the hole and I completely overshot the green and put the ball in a lake...I guess I should have clubbed down a little 🤣

Second hole was a nice par three over a lake and a sand trap. 132 yards to the hole so I relied on my "cheat sheet" and grabbed the pitching wedge.  First shot bounced off the bank and went towards the sand trap, the second shot landed on the edge of the green, the third landed on the fringe on the back of the green.

I think because I had nobody around me I was nice and relaxed. I found that I was swinging steady with a good tempo and hitting the lines I wanted. I didn't bother to putt out the holes as that wasn't what I was there for, but took the time to practice chipping from the rough, from near the green, pitching onto the green from 25, 50, 75 yards, and after finishing the 12th I used the last light of the day to get a feeling for the sand wedge out of the sand trap.

I was worried that the difference in bounce and shape of the sole of the sand wedge between the Vice and my old one would impact getting out of the sand but I found it easier.  The bunker was really high sided so it gave me a good chance to get the ball up into the air and stop short (except for the couple of times I thinned the hell out of the ball and sent it flying but baby steps 🤣 ).

So overall a really fun session on the course.  I found it to be more useful from a practice perspective than being on the driving range.

Weather permitting I'm going to go back up Thursday to get and other practice session in. I'm hoping my photographer (my lovely fiancée Tabby) is able to come next time to get some action shots.

Long time lurker first time poster. Found this thread after I ordered a set of the VGI01. I figured with a 60 day return policy if I  only hit the 7 iron I couldn't go too wrong.  Glad to see the testers like theirs so far.  I'm currently gaming some PXG game improvement irons and they did their job and I've dropped my handicap about 15 points  since I got them. Now looking for something with a little less outrageous lofts.

Looking forward to having these on hand to compare.
