Going to get this out of the way first. This isn’t a discussion about playing good the “right way” whatever that means to people, or those who want to hit driver as often as possible.
This is purely based on if someone has a  goal to break 100. This I know has been discussed in thread periodically but couldn’t remember if there’s been a thread and I was too lazy to search.

Treat Par 3 as Par 4, Par 4 as Par 5, Par 5 as Par 6. You not longer have the pressure to try and get on each green in regulation related to stated par on the score card.
Determine the longest club in your bag you can hit relative long and straight. Minimizes damage off the tee. Don’t try to hit hero shots. Since you are playing each hole as an additional stroke you can still hit the longest club in your bag that goes straight or pick clubs that give you a full swing on your approach shot.
If you make new par on every hole you shoot bogey golf according to the stated par on the score card and accomplish your goal of breaking 100.
If you make par per the scorecard on any of the holes you break 90.
As a note for those trying to break 90 as the goal you can take the same approach but you would need to par a few holes per the scorecard. However I would also suggest spending more time working on putting and inside 100 to 125 yards as your primary practice with full swing to help keep from having blow up holes
I’ve used this approach when I started getting more serious about playing golf and with no shirt game had scored consistently between 90-93. Started shooting upper 80s with a so so short game.
Guys I played with when I started playing we would go out with 7i as our longest club in the bag and see what we would shoot. Sometimes it was a 5i.

Maybe a 2nd putter. I would go with my fav. lighter weight putter for long shots, and add a heavier and more stable/less likely to rotate even a degree, for the short putts.
Or I might go with 2 different 3 woods: one low profile flat bottom for hitting from fairway, the 2nd one a fuller face, like Callaway Steelhead XR, for the tee box.

Lefty 7 iron in otherwise righty bag for those nasty shots by the tree or from under the bush.

I am trying to figure out a club or 2 to drop to lighten the load a little when walking :).

Tom Watson has a bunch in there, Bubba’s two Masters — all-in over 105 majors in the vault.  Would be a cool collection of stories.

First masters would have been 1995 as an amateur.  In that timeframe he was using a Ping Anser.  His first Cameron was 96.   The putter you are referring to was used for a couple of wins in 96.  In 97 he was using a TeI3.

BTW, this includes solid gold replicas of TWO of Tiger's putters, for the 94 and 95 US Amateurs.

That's assuming all of them are pure gold and not gold plated, which most of the clubs in the vault are. Give me the vault though, an interesting collection of clubs instead of just one.

If any of you ever get the opportunity (PING fan or not) you should really make a point to visit HQ.  The only thing that's changed since 2005 is the size of the room itself; growing nearly 3x its size since that time.
It's fascinating to see in person and an easy vote for me...the vault...

The Eldrick wand has a lot of pull but it’s  the golden putter vault for me, hands down. It’s the Fort Knox of golf!  Not to mention all of the legendary triumphs that have claimed a spot (including Tiger).

You need to switch to a Footjoy rain glove. They get better when they get wet, so you won't have to worry if they get too wet.

Infomercial-type clubs often get a bad rap. Many of them over the years have worked really well.

    Usually, however, they're shot-specific, one-trick-pony clubs.

Most of us already have TWO one-trick-pony clubs--driver and putter.

When we add other such clubs--Alien-type wedges only good from the sand.....keeled-sole recovery woods....chippers and run-up irons,,,,driving irons that we can't hit from the fairway...and certainly others that I'm not thinking of right now...

that limits the number of regular, loft-progression clubs in the bag, causing wide gaps.

I personally don't let this bother me. I used to play a sand-only specialty wedge for a very long time and I still play a driving iron that I can't hit from the fairway.  I throw fourteen clubs that I like and can usually hit into the fourteen slots of my cart bag and go from there.

That might not work for everybody, however.
