  1. Yep, just to add on what @EasyPutter @cksurfdude and @GolfSpy_APH mentioned. Plans for the 2024 outing are still being made, I along with the help of @Getoffmylawn have been doing a lot of information gathering to find the best combinations of venue, location and price for next year. One thing to slightly correct what Easy Putter said, the past two outings were not just Regional Outings, they are open to every forum member regardless of where they live. It just happened that they were both East Coast. Research for 2024 has literally encompassed coast to coast locations. We hope to have something to announce in the next couple weeks at the latest. But I will drop a few helpful thoughts for people to start thinking/planning. While we don't limit the size of the group we typically start with a estimated size of 16 to 20. I think we had 12 in Maryland and 16 in North Carolina. So initial spots may fill up fast, if so we will reach out to the course to add more spots. It'll likely to be a 3 day, 3 round deal, arriving on a Thursday departing on Sunday, with 18 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. An option to play 36 on any of those days will be up to the individuals at the time. Feedback from the last group was 36 was a lot for some in the group, and took away from the opportunity to enjoy casual down time hanging out with the group. While a date is not confirmed yet, you might start looking at your calendars for late May. Once announced deposits will be needed right away in order to confirm your spot. A variety of proposals have come in, and they range from around $600 per person to $1800 per person, to include all golf and lodging. Rest easy, the $1800 will not be selected. So look for something right in the middle of those two as the likely package. Lodging will likely be cottage or villa style. Villas that sleep 4 or cottages/house that may accommodate 8 to 12. There may be a mix of single rooms and some with double rooms--separate beds of course, but we don't judge As I said more to come soon, but that should give some information for those interest to start thinking about it. New thread started here, please make all comments or question in regards to it there. 2. Man you hit the trifecta with those 3 courses. I'm over in the BWi/Annapolis area, if you ever are able to travel up this way let me know and I'll have you out to my course Compass Pointe @golfinnut just came out last week and @MDGolfHacker plays here weekly with me. Also keep any eye out for our MGS outing in spring/summer 2024. No date or location has been firmed up yet, but we have had two pretty good ones the past couple years with a group about the size of yours.
  3. New Odyssey Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled Putters Announced Today Odyssey Golf, the #1 Putter on Tour, announced new Odyssey Ai-One and Ai-One Milled Putters. We’ve leveraged Callaway’s industry Artificial Intelligence Design and super-computing capabilities to create the most advanced insert in golf for more consistent ball speeds, even on off-center hits. Below you will find our press center pages for both new putters, which include images, one-sheets, releases, key details, and more. Ai-One By applying these A.I. enhancements to our inserts, we’re delivering consistent ball speed across the face. Our multi-material construction includes unique contours on the back of the face that minimize ball speed losses on off-center hits, and greatly increase the sweet spot. With Ai-One, putts finish 21% closer to the hole on average than a typical non-inserted putter. To achieve this unmatched level of performance, we made the back of the insert out of aluminum and added a White Hot Urethane to the striking surface for the iconic White Hot feel that millions of golfers love. These enhancements provide incredible feel, speed control, and consistency. Ai-One is already gaining attention on Tour and performing on golf’s biggest stages. Jon Rahm used an Ai One Rossie model to go undefeated in the Ryder Cup while putting on a tremendous putting display, earning 3 points for the victorious European Team. Sam Burns gamed an Ai One Seven model for the U.S. Team at the Ryder Cup, and he made the switch to Ai-One in the very first week that he tried it at the Tour Championship. Ai-One Milled These premium putters feature a 100% Milled stainless steel body fit with a 100% Milled titanium insert. The multi-material construction includes unique contours on the back of the face that minimize ball speed losses on off-center hits, and greatly increase the sweet spot. With Ai-One Milled, putts finish closer to the hole on average than a typical Milled putter. Our new models deliver the premium look and feel that players expect in a milled design with a level of insert performance that no one else can match. Models, Pricing, and Availability The Odyssey Ai-One family will be at retail and online on November 3, with a price of $299.99. Head shapes include #1, Double Wide DB, Rossie S, #7S, and #7CH. 4. You should have mentioned that when you were here last week, we could have taken mine out to the range for you to try out.
  5. Yeah, I'm not quite the young big hitter like @golfinnut is, so I have the Recoil Dart 75 in my Wilson CB's and they are fantastic. I used to play Recoil 680/780 several years ago, then switched to SteelFiber I80 in my past 3 sets. I hadn't tried the Darts until Wilson was out for a fitting day, and they were just so smooth yet stable, I had to try them in a set. I really like them.
  6. Chris. Good seeing you, it’s been a while. Let’s not make it another 5 years. Maybe you can plan a local DMV outing @Pingman33 don’t give up maybe one day you’ll be good enough to play Titleist or even Wilson CB’s Thanks for a fun round guys.
  7. You know they say the camera adds 20ibs. Ha Really interesting on the Wilson CB soles. When held by themselves they look forgiving but not huge. But put them next to the 350 and thdy are pretty close in actuality. That may say more about the 350 being a bit slimmed down compared to the T300. Now I don’t take a pic but maybe I will. When you put the G430 next to either of those. The G430 is Huge! So yeah the CB packs a good amount of forgiveness into a beautiful looking iron.
  8. When I opened this thread today it took me to posts from May 25th. It’s hard to believe I haven’t contributed to the thread in almost 5 months. But my return brings something worthy. I was fit for these a the fitting day at my course a few weeks ago. I had to hit them multiple times that day as I couldn’t believe I could hit a players CB so well. But yet shot after shot after shot, went right where I was aimed. Granted probably 5-8 yards shorter than my T350, but the most amazing sound and feel I’ve experienced from an iron. I paired it with the Recoil Dart shafts and I think that adds an even softer yet solid feel at impact. The comparison sole and address pics are to my T350 6 iron
  9. Thansk. You expressed what I seemingly failed to do Given the choice I want a putt with a chance to tie/win or lose. Leave it in my hands and not in hopes that the opponent misses.
  10. Yeah. I probably didn’t phase it best. But yeah, the outcome isn’t decided yet. So would you rather your opponent win or lose it. Or would you want the chance even if it meant you miss a realistically makeable putt and lose.
  11. Those were my first thoughts as well. But the more I thought about it. I want the ball. I want to have a chance to win in. If I miss nobody to blame but me. Wirh him making the birdie putt I never get the chance to win or at least continue the match. But I definitely see the case of being able to say. I lost to a great putt.
  12. So a recent article got my thinokg about this. You’re in a match play match that is on the 18th hole. It’s all tied. Now which of these two scenarios would you choose and why. A) Your opponent makes a 10 foot birdie putt to win. B) You miss a 3 foot par putt to lose I’ll give my answer after reading some of yours
  13. I ised 18 birdies a couple years ago and it was very good. I was happy with it until I found the GHIN app.
  14. I agree on Arcoss detail. But for me two different Verizon’s of Arcoss it just misses too many shots and I found the editing very cumbersome and not intuitive. So it was strike 2 on it. There won’t be a 3rd strike. Especially for what they charge now. I know G2M answerd it by playing around. But I use that feature regularly. To lay up to a hazard or how much to a dogleg etc. so each and quick to pinpoint Ypu can also move the flag on the green to get an actual distance. When I do that and a playing partner has a laser we alway compare and I’m never more than 2 yards off. But 90% of the time. I’m the exact same distance. No I am not paid by the USGA. I just think it’s one of the best apps I’ve ever used.
  15. I can’t recommend the upgraded version of the app enough. Golf2much covered some of the basics. It does so much more gba. Just basic stats. One of the features I like best is you will get your scoring average on each hole of any course you play multiple times Since 90% of my rounds are played on my home course. I have very detailed info about how I play every hole. The GPs is as good as the Sx 400 I have and costs much less. I do all the stats and score as I go. Takes literally 5 to 10 seconds on there box of the next hole to do so.
  16. Shot Shape has been spot on for me, both indoors and outdoors. It's remarkably accurate outdoors from tracking a soft fade, to a big slice and even a low non intentional stinger...ha I hit a fade 98% of the time but occasionally I will come up with a draw, and it will get that one down as well. Very impressed. There were some early bugs with the tracer looking like it was landing on the tee box, vs down range but that was corrected many updates ago and is very good now. I put it next to Trackman a few times early on outdoors. it was identical in ball speed and within 1 or 2 yards of carry on most irons. With faster swinging clubs driver from my friends that swing over 110 the ball speed was still spot on but the carry distances began to show a bit more variance. But on my meager driver speed of 85 or so, it was within a couple yards carry.
  17. Thanks for the "late" season update. That is some impressive gain in the handicap. As I'm sure you well know, going from a 5 to a scratch is much harder than going from a 10 to 5 or a 20 to 15 etc. Some awesome scores in there. And while I did move on from my Paradyms, certainly not for performance reasons, but due to the incoming T Series, I can say my buddy who purchased the irons and FW at the same time I did, is still gaming his and dong quite well. He hit a 3 wood yesterday on a par 5 during a scramble round, that we knew had no chance of reaching the green 282 out according to the GPS. But we figured we'd be left with 60 yards or so. He absolutely nutted it and we got up there to find we were 30 yards out. We gave him a bit of a hard time for not being able to manage those last 30 yards....LOL
  18. OH i know you can play from a penalty area. But not this one, it is immediate DOA if you are even more than 2 inches in it. waist high fescue with a sharp 5 foot drop off. I'm surprised he was even to make a back swing. There is a dark part of me that feels like I should have walked over with him to make sure he actually found it from where he played it. But I didn't want to be "that guy" although I'm sure with the match literally on the line on that next shot, most would have. I still like to think golf is a game of honor and most still play it that way. Maybe I'm naive.
  19. No you're absolutely right about not changing strategy. This was the situation. The group in front of us was very very slow. We waited on the tee of this hole for at least 5 to 7 minutes, not exaggerating, possibly longer. The distance was not an ideal number for me. 165 to 170 would have been my 4 hybrid. 150 would have been a solid 6 iron. So Opted to go with a "easy" 5 iron and well as I said above, I went too easy...on both it and the pitch shot. Long is not good at all on this hole, but I was TOO short. As for what did I learn? I think to stick with what I'd do normally. One hole when he was OB off the tee, I tried to play TOO safe on a shot and didn't commit to a full swing and ended up in trouble off the tee myself. That's the big thing as mentioned above. Stick to what you'd normally do unless 1000% assurance of doing something different is the best option. i think overall my strategy wasn't bad, there were a couple swings on the tee box I'd like to have over. But I'm sure there are one or two he would as well. Playing to a couple shots of my handicap I can't be overly angry.
  20. Thanks for all the advice suggestions. We tied the match, so it went to a scorecard playoff, our No. 1 handicap hole where we both got a stroke was a par 5, I lost it off the tee (in the actual match) by pushing it into a wooded area, I was able to punch out but only advance it 40 yards or so, I ended up in a greenside bunker on my 3rd shot and left in the bunker---I never do that. So I had a 7 and he bogies. So he had that in his pocket knowing he only needed to tie the match. As the match itself, it was a good match pretty close all the way. I did get 2 up after 7 holes, he fought back took a 1 up lead, I won a couple holes back to back to take a 1 up lead with 2 holes left. I hit into trouble on our 17th hole off the tee had to layup short chipped long and two putted for bogey, he made a nice par. So we went inot the last hole a 160 yard par 3. He hit first and was near some trouble far right of the hole. So I'm thinking he possibly has a penalty drop coming or at worst a tough up and down. I figured I only needed bogey, I hit my shot a bit too conservative and left myself 10 yards short of the green. Same with my chip, it was over a ridge then downhill to a back pin. I left it on the top of the ridge about 25 feet for par. He said his ball was just outside the penalty area, I didn't walk over t check as I was on the far side of the green, maybe I should have but Iknow the guy and trusted him. He hit a great chip to about 5 feet. My 25 footer came up 2 feet short. If he missed, I would have a 2 footer to win the match outright. His putt caught left edge and dropped in. We both thought it might miss. In a show of good sportsmanship, he gave me the 2 footer so the match was tied and he had had the tie breaker. he could have made me putt it and hope I missed to win outright. But I hadn't missed a short one all day. So he gave me 8 strokes and beat me by 8 strokes 79 to 88. Funny how that works out. We both overall played pretty well but both had a few holes we'd like to have back. Match play is fun and definitely put a different perspective on the round.
  21. Thanks all good stuff. I know this guys group routinely gives 3-4 footers. Not today!! Maybe one or two early if it doesn’t matter like you say. But then he’ll be putting. Yeah the one bad hole is key. That is what keeps most of my scores in the 88-93 range vs &2-85 range. So got to let that for if/when it happens. It’s just one hole doesn’t affect any more than that.
  22. So I made the 32 man field for our playoffs that start tomorow. It’s a match play event. I am a 14 and playing a 6. So I’ll get strokes on 8 holes that he doesn’t. My plan is to just go play my game like I have done the last 4 weeks in which o played my way in. My thought is to not worry too much about those holes. Is that the correct approach. Or should I go a bit more conservative on the holes.where I stroke and force him to beat me. Or do I go all out trying to shoot the lowest score possible and strokes be dammed. Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts.
  23. So in a post a few up on this page I talked about playing 9 holes from the tips. Well yesterday I took the opportunity to play the other nine form the tips, so I could have it combine with the back 9 for an 18 hole score. The Tips played 3674, here are the results: 1-595 Par 5 Double Bogey 2-436 Par 4 Double Bogey 3-402 Par 4 Triple Bogey-really high nasty rough off the tee got me in trouble. 4-210 Par 3 Par 5-418 Par 4 Bogey-Par putt lipped out 6-187 par 3 Bogey 7-422 Par 4 Quad OB Tee shot and more rough trouble, and tucked pin. Big Boy hole! 8-622 Par 5 Bogey With the Par putt dying on the lip...This may be the best hole I've ever played here! 9-392 Par 4 Double Bogey So the good - Other than hole 7 I avoided getting in any severe trouble off the tee. Only 14 putts, that is mostly due to not reaching the green until my 3rd and sometimes 4th shot, so I wasn't faced with any extremely long putts. No 3 putts and 4 of 9 holes a 1 putt Stuck to my strategy of trying to leave my 3rd shot into the green at my favorite wedge distance of 85 yards. And the Bad- NO GIR, but that is to be expected playing from tees that are 700 to 800 yards (for 9 holes) longer than I normally play. Even on one of he par 3's I took a smarter play of intentionally laying up short instead of hitting driver or 3 wood and going into trouble if I missed the green. It paid off with getting up and down for a par on No. 4. There were actually couple of fairways that I didn't even reach, that required carries of well over 200 yards. AGain the tips aren't designed for seniors that carry the ball 200 to 210 yards Other Takeaways: It was fun--No I'm not going to make a habit of it. But it was fun to see the course from views and sight lines that I have never seen before. Hole 1 is a perfect example of that. That hole normally plays 465 from the gold tees where I play in the senior league from. If you hit a bit of a draw or even straight ball off the tee there, you can get a generous kick off a mound down into the fairway that will add at least 15 yards and up to 20 or 30 on a dry day to your drive. But from the blacks, a draw is risky, unless you are confident enough to carry it well over 220 yards to get over some deep gorse to even get to the fairway on that side Otherwise you are playing a fade down the left side, which as we know a fade will take a few yards off you drive. So it was really cool to see all the different shot lines. But I'll be glad to get back to the comfort of my gold tees in the league playoffs that start tomorrow!
  24. She will be playing the regular tournament tees. Just like Michelel Wie and Annika did when they played in PGA events.
  25. 1st round of league playoffs are tomorrow, so I'll have a report on that. And a new weapon in the bag as well!
