  1. We're going up with a bunch of friends to a resort just south of the course at the end of July... So I'm sneaking off one day to play. Can't not do it if I'm only 10 minutes away. Beats the almost 6 hour drive it normally is. #BucketList Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  2. A tale of two nines again. Had 4 birdies and 2 bad bogey's today on the front for a 34. Drove a par 4 and left the putt just right of the hole. Aerated greens were bumpy. 5/9 greens. Then the back nine was just poor mental mistake after poor mental mistake. Shot 40 with no birdies and that was a miracle. I could have used Speith's caddie to slap me around! [emoji38] 4/9 greens. 74 for the day. Hope tomorrow is a better story. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  3. From what they said the other day on the broadcast and an article I read, they can't get the greens any faster due to moisture and the lack of wind. Rough could be longer I suppose, but I think at some point there is a line where looking for balls in the rough is nonsensical. I saw videos of guys in their practice rounds losing balls in greenside rough when they literally just tossed it down. Being hard to hit out of and not being able to find a ball 3 yards off of the green is goofy. I think the lack of sun, wind and normal coastal weather is what is really making it play as easy as it is. I think if that wind was at 15-20mph with some sunshine, or at least a lack of mositure, those greens would be dry and like parking lots...with balls bouncing into the long rough and rolling 15+ feet past for down hill putts. But maybe the boycott talk helped sway the usga a bit.... But I don't think they are trying to make it any easier than past years. Either way, I usually like to see the guys shoot par or a few over...so this hasn't been all that exciting so far for me.... But it's golf and great players... So I'll continue to watch. 5. I had the ctl in a set of pings for 3 years and I liked it. It launched at a moderate to high angle for me. Spin was middle range. Feel was just okay. Hitting it in multiple irons, the modus is more mid launching and will give you a little less spin. Feel is good. That being said, I've noticed that they do differ in performance based on the iron head. Best option will be to check your numbers on a launch monitor based on whichever had you are choosing. 6. IMO Speith has come across as whiny since he started playing poorly a few seasons back. I used to be a fan, but with his attitude when things aren't going right, I don't care to watch him play. That moment between him and his caddie was him disappointed in the fact that he hit a solid shot and didnt get the result he wanted. But While a caddie is supposed to get that distance right and make sure those distances keep his player of of trouble, it is still up to the player to know his distance and the circumstances. There is an agreement at some point on the shot, distance and target. Unless the caddie made him to against what he originally choose for those two shots, it's on both of them. I'd have rather heard him say "we misjudged twice there" or something similar. But as I said, he's shied away from the blame and fault and just whined for a while now unfortunately. He's still young. Hopefully he learns from it. Might help his game as well..... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Nothing the USGA could do. No wind and extremely wet first half of the year makes the course fairly indefensible. Usually they can get the moisture out of the greens, but much the same as here in the Midwest, without sun and heat, it ain't happening. Doesn't look like the winds or weather will change much through the weekend either. Winner will be in the -15 range. Which will help the players stop whining and threatening to boycott future opens. 8. First Name/City of Residence: Derek, Volo, IL Do you currently use a rangefinder or GPS for distance measuring: Both If you use a device what model and brand: Bushnell V3 and a Shotscope V2. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  9. Koepka looks pretty disappointed at a 69 and I agree with him. He was hitting it solid the first few holes. Woods suffered though. I bet he comes back with a 66 or better tomorrow. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  10. Adidas fit me really well and are comfortable.... But I've never worn puma so take it for what it's worth. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah, we tee off on weekends before 6:15 so we can finish at a decent pace. Usually 3:15 or better for 4 people pushing carts. If I had to spend 5+ hours out there, I don't think I'd golf much. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. The watch doesn't advance on GPS mode for me either... although I don't think it will. In shot tracking mode, it knows to advance because you tell it how many putts you had while marking the pin. Or it's at least tracking that you're on the green. In GPS mode, it's not tracking those things. It's only tracking distance to the hole you are on. I'm not sure it has a trigger to move to the next hole without pushing the button to advance. Emailing customer service to suggest it would probably be a good way to get then working on it, but for some reason I feel like they would have thought of it if it's at all possible. 13. That's pretty cool. If I didn't suck at playing in the cold... I'd consider it [emoji38] Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  14. Had a good round Friday. Could have been really good, but the front 9 greens were aerated and puts didn't fall. But on the back 9 I turned it on. I birdied 5 of the first 8 holes. Lipped out two others for birdie. Ball striking and putting were great. On 18 I put my tee shot in the bunker. Should have knocked it out into the fairway Because of the lie, but decided to go for the green. Put it in the water. Ended with a double bogey. Could have easily been a 29! 2 lower than my career best for 9 holes. 38/33 for a 71. Hit 14/18 greens. 10/15 fairways. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
