My first thought was Srixon, being from Huntington Beach California I always thought it was cool being from the same place.
but I would say Ping putters are under appreciated. Not a lot of tech but they do feel great and the black putters with white sight lines are very pleasing to look at.
most people gravitate to odyssey or Scotty’s

    Srixon is in Huntington Beach?

Hello! This is my first post!

I am looking for some suggestions of what irons would be a good fit for my game. I am 34 years old and have played golf off and on since I was in my teens. In the last year I am playing a lot more than previously. Almost every week at this point. My driver speed is usually between 104-112mph when I to go to a range with a monitor. I have a hand me down set of old(IE 90's) Mitsushiba Vipers with graphite shafts that are definitely showing their age.

As I am having more time and chances to play, I feel that I could benefit from a newer set of irons more than anything else. With all of the new technologies and buzzwords, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

What do you recommend or what should I stay away from? I've been leaning towards Cobra LTDXs or a Sim Max 2 set, but that is purely based on the price point and looks.

Thanks for any and all help!

I tested the Cobra LTDx irons. I hit them very well and really liked them but I did not like the strong lofts. They are VERY strong even by today's standards. At your age and swing speed I think you'll wind up with a huge gap at the bottom of the bag.  That's what concerned me.

The attached link is a good source to narrow your search and try:

What's your take on the Distanza?  Personally I really like it although I think it feels a little "dead" compared to the PLB and the MP5.

Performance is pretty dang good though. Other than what I perceive as the difference in feel it's really hard for me to quantify any real discernible differences between the PLB, MP5 and the Distanza (although I keep trying to).

All three are just really good.

Ordered a Golf Works Graffaloy Pro Launch GWX primarily to try in a fairway wood but think I'll give it a shot in the driver first before I cut it down.

Had planned on plugging the Distanza back in this afternoon since I haven't hit it in a month or more but we got an inch and a half of rain this morning and it's still coming down.

Not desperate enough to play cart path only golf in the swamp......

I have only played with the Distanza one time, but I like it more than the PLB.  It could be the honeymoon period, though.

    My impression:

    - The clubhead feels lighter than with the PLB. Presumably because the Distanza is counterbalanced.

    - The Distanza didnt feel "dead" to me. It did seem less whippy than the PLB

    - No notable distance differences

    - Launches higher than the PLB

    - My dispersion was much tighter.  I didn't hit any way left or way right.

For reference, I am a smooth swinger.  My driver swing speed is 103 MPH.  I play steel stiff shafts in my irons.

JT is my favorite.  Love his wedge work and just his golf swing in general.  Waiting on Cameron Young to break out a win.  Once that kid figures it out, he can be really dangerous out there.  I usually pull for the underdog, depending on who it is.  Suprised Fleetwood doesn't have a major, same for Cameron Young.  I'm also from SC so I always have enjoyed watching DJ play.  It really depends on the tournament and who is in the hunt.  Those guys are so good.  To see them in person is completely different than seeing them on TV.

He's always got that sour look on his face though....  But a great player for sure.

Not one favorite as all of them are good, if not they wouldn't be on the tour.

For me personally, I like Scottie Scheffler for his attitude, and understanding that all of them are humans too.

He seems "down to earth" and appreciative of the opportunities his golf career has given him, and also seems to have a demeanor when playing that as long as he tries his best, the end result even if he doesn't win, is what he deserved that particular week.

If only Scottie could putt!  Get rid of the Scotty, Scottie.

Man this "scientific" experiment stuff is tuff business!  My brother was wanting to try the MP on Saturday so I stuck the Distanza back in my G430 and drove it pretty dang good.  The Distanza didn't offer up any of the 290 plus tee shots that I've been getting with the MP and Pro Launch but was very straight and in the 250's up to 280's pretty consistently.

My brother hooked his first few tee shots with the MP but then found a rhythm and was hitting the thing easily fifteen to twenty yards farther than usual.

As for the Distanza it's also a very stable feeling shaft -  in my hands anyways although more muted at impact - not as "crisp" feeling as the Pro Launch or MP.

I've not tried any other shafts in my G430 fairways and really like the Distanza in those but have a suspicion that the MP might make a great fairway wood shaft.

I still think I'm gonna cut an inch off of the MP just for giggles and if I don't like the shorter length in the driver then I'll try it in the five or seven wood and just order another one for the driver.

If I can get it back from my brother that is........

Kinda tempted to try the MP in a Senior flex as well.

So many options yet so little time........

Got rained out Sunday and didn't play or hit balls yesterday but will be back out there this afternoon.

What is the "MP"?  Everyone using the acronym... but the actual shaft name is buried somewhere.

I don't blame you for your frustration. Regardless of the product, a manufacturer simply can't know all of the potential issues until their new product gets into the hands of the masses and I'm beginning to think Shot Scope should have done a wide-ranging beta program before launching to the public. They could have gotten lots of willing participants from this forum alone, even charging their cost or higher for the privilege. I know we all got a discount as current SS users, but the X5 was still a fair amount of money and was supposed to be a finished product. The fact that it was available to the public quickly after the pre-sale deliveries proves it wasn't anything but a current customer reward (which I did appreciate). I for one wouldn't be as frustrated if these issues were part of a beta program rather than a finished product.

But I'm curious, will you some other shot tracker?

I will not be.  It's not frustration with the product.  Couple of things driving my decision:

    1. I find myself farting around like walking the distance from my first shot to the flag.  Worrying about the metrics more than playing.

    2. I just bought some golf clubs that I didnt need along with a Hamilton Khaki watch that I also didnt need.  So I'm selling stuff to fund.

  8. Shot Scope X5 (New 2023 version) - Gray

***** Missing the Putter and SW tags *****.  I am providing the SW tag from the X3 version which also works.  I cannot provide the Putter tag because it is epoxied to my putter.  It can be purchased.  Hence, the low price.  $SOLD

Everything else, charger cable, startup guide etc is there.

    Have you reinstalled the firmware?

I'm taking the X5 out for the first time this Saturday after the new firmware install (been sidelined after eye surgery). I don't think all of the issues are resolved based on past communication but certainly hope the majority are.

    I did. Will re-install again.

  10. I have been having trouble with the X5.  First round was a mess but I chalked it up to not having read the user guide.  Yesterday, the watch froze on the pin collect screen of the first hole.  There was nothing I could do to record the pin.  And then when I exited out it sat on the first hole for the remainder of the round.  A reset during the round did not help.  Seemed to be on lock no matter what I did.

    Anyone else experience this?

Classic Black is Sold Out. Midnight Blue is still available at time of this post. I got Prestige Black.

FOMO got the best of me 🙄 That, and my full support of ShotScope as a company & a product.

I do have an Arccos subscription & got the sensors with my Ping G425 irons, so my plan was to do Arccos this season as a trial of the Caddie feature.

BUT.....I have read multiple MGS tester reviews of missed shots, duplicated shots, mismarked shots, yada, yada, yada. Plus, having to go back to using my phone is a personal hurdle for me.

@Gavin_Shot_Scope please forgive me, for I almost 'sinned'.  Your product hasn't done any of those things - for/to me - from V1 up to V3. I can turn-off my phone, enjoy my time, and just golf 😀

    Keep up the great work!!

Odd. I ordered at this time yesterday and Prestige Black and Prestige White were gone.
