  1. Here is the newly made display! I played around with the strength of the magnets and found that the ball markers will still hold through a thin lens cleaning cloth. I may make a trip to a local hobby shop and see if I can find a thin material to line the magnets to hide the seams, but then again, you don't really notice them once the markers are on... And speaking of seams, notice that there are only 4 magnets on this one! Finally found a thick magnetic sheet (60mil instead of the 20mil found everywhere). They come in 8x10 sheets with an adhesive backing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2SE5KA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It was much easier this time around finding thick enough sheet magnets, so if you are going to make one, that's the way to go. EDIT: It doesn't look THAT much bigger in the first picture, but once I transferred all the markers.. WOW! I will have plenty of room for quite a while!
  2. The Home Depot magnetic tape is what I used for my first one. Coming in rolls made it difficult, but taking my time applying and letting them sit overnight with a pile of books on them did the trick.. BUT.. I found a better solution...
  3. It has finally happened... I am out of space! I ordered a pack of magnetic sheets, that I think are the same thickness as the magnetic tape I used previously, and have another, larger, frame ready to go. Will post the new and improved display when it's done!
  4. Just got my 2 boxes of the 4-piece in the mail! Looking forward to trying them out! I never tried them when they first came out.
  5. I've been using FootJoy StaSof for the past year or so. I used to be a big Hirzl fan and played their gloves for years, but California decided to ban the import of kangaroo, so I can no longer get Hirzl... The StaSof was the best fitting glove I found after about 20min of trying different gloves on at the golf store. Most gloves I tried were too narrow for my palm. I require a Cadet glove, and have always found it difficult to find Cadet models from every manufacture.
  6. I'm looking to get a new set of irons. Not looking at anything specific right now, but I'd love to try the Titleist AP line (AP1 and AP3 especially) and the TaylorMade P790. Planning to go through an iron fitting at Cool Clubs and just going in with an open mind and see what the data points me towards! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  7. Funny you should mention the standard giant ball display(s) on the wall.... That's what the ball marker display is sitting on top of! I grab a ball and marker from all the courses I play. I do admit that the markers are MUCH easier to deal with, and is the route I'd go if I had to do it over, but I'm too far in to turn back now with the ball displays...
  8. Wow.. This will be interesting... Those look like a straight rip-off of the Dynacraft!
  9. Should make for some good golf viewing! Wonder if you can see the "window" in the trees that Phil it it through yesterday with that screen... I know I couldn't with my 55"! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  10. Nice! I love visiting Phoenix! What courses are on your first list of 10?
  11. Sounds like you got a keeper there! I also never thought the color screen was worth it on the Tour model (which is why I have the Pro), until I discovered adding an image! Now I'm wishing I had a color screen.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  12. Started the year at 12.2 and have been trending upwards with my current being 12.7. My game is close though.. It seems that every round one of my 9's is around the +5/+6 mark, but I can't seem to make it through an entire round right now without having a bunch of doubles on one of the sides... Still hoping to break into the single digits one of these days...
  13. A guy showed up with one of these a couple years ago at an annual tournament that I play in (it's more of a fun drinking type of tournament than anything serious). It was fun to see the club in action on the range. Little pop, and off goes the ball an a perfect draw or fade depending on the setup. Now would I expect these to show up on the course? No, but it's a fun little gimmick on the range!
  14. Oh, I am definitely coming well over the top and likely have a negative attack angle (never had it measured though)! It's been an ongoing swing fault I have been unable to rid myself of. The problem here is that I don't feel like my swing has changed any over the past year, but my yardage has been dropping. Maybe it's just time to take a stab at lessons.. I just worry about the whole getting worse before you get better part of lessons... Edit: Just realizing that you said on top of the ball, not over the top as in swing... Whoops.. I couldn't definitively tell you whether or not I'm staying behind the ball at impact. I'll have to be more aware of that. But I still think it might be time to seek some professional help! My driving distance has reached an all-time low
  15. I played over the weekend and it was a tale of two 9s.. On the front I played at +5 (which is pretty darn good for me) but started falling apart on the back 9 with a +11 for a rather disappointing 88 given how I started the day... I've been struggling a lot off the tee and just can't seem to get my driver in order.. Luckily, the ball is still going mostly straight and I'm hitting fairways, the ball is just 30 yards back of where it was 6 months ago... It's been very frustrating trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong with the driver.. It's terrible knowing that I can tee off with a 4-iron right now and be within 10 yards of my driver...
  16. Heading out for a round this morning... I hope it warms up a little though.. the forecast was for a low of 39°, but I woke up to 32°.... I hope it reaches the 40s by the time I tee off... And to think we hit 80° earlier this month.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  17. Wolf Creek is an awesome course! Some people find it a little gimmicky, but I absolutely loved playing it. There aren't too many courses like it.. As for courses not on your list, Paiute is a great course as well. They have 3 18-hole courses on property. I only have experience playing the Wolf course though. I would definitely go play there again.
  18. To each their own! I don't like the "scorecard clip" on my push cart, so I always use a scorecard holder when I walk. I typically don't use one when I'm riding in a cart, the one exception is if I'm riding in the passenger seat with someone I was paired up with (I walk on as a single a lot). Now as for the poker chips... I prefer the smaller metallic ball marks, but I'd be all for MGS ball marks in general (poker chip and/or metallic).
  19. Is this idea still up on the whiteboard!? Would really love to get my hands on an MGS scorecard holder...
  20. I must admit, this makes me a little more happy than it probably should... I decided to put my old GPS unit back into play and was updating the unit last night when I discovered that I could upload a logo to the unit and have it displayed on power up... 21. 2 hours in the gym BEFORE a tee time... That is pretty intense... Right now, I sometimes worry about a workout a couple days ahead of a tee time!
  22. I'll be turning 30 in May, so I guess I have another year at the kiddie table... I am surprised by the distribution of ages though.. I would have expected the 31-40 range to make up the largest segment. I guess my perception is skewed since I surround myself with people in that age group that I golf with!
  23. I always had a love hate relationship with my hybrid. I would hit it great some days, and terrible others. I ditched the hybrid and put a 3i in the bag, which was great for a while, but I still missed it short more often than I hit my number. Now, I have gone down the 5 wood path and have been happy with it so far (about 9 months or so now). If you're hitting your 3 wood great, why not try a 5 wood in the bag as well?
  24. This seems like a good thread to hang out in! Drinking a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA tonight. It's suprisngly smooth for how strong and hoppy it is! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  25. I'm a little late to this party but after reading through some of the posts in here, I could use the extra motivation and support. I'm currently at 290 and trying to get myself down to a more reasonable 240. I've started logging all my food with MyFitnessPal and have a fitbit urging me on to 10k steps per day, but have yet to start any serious exercise routines. I don't have any specific plans at this point other than: eat less, walk more when I golf, and get started with some cardio.
