  1. I would say yes. A good fitter will put you in the right shaft which can make a big difference. Also getting the right lie angle makes a difference. I’m not promising you’ll break 80 but if nothing else properly fitted clubs will help make you more consistent. That’s how it worked for me and I did manage to break 80 and shoot a couple of 80s since I was fitted for most of my clubs.
  2. I’ve had ones that were fine. I have had couple of others that weren’t good but I was able to return them.
  3. There are some great options in the Chicagoland area. I live in the western suburbs and within an hour of me their are so many great courses and most of them won’t cost you an arm and a leg especially if you can play during the week like I usually do.
  4. I have their 286 wedges . They work very well. They also have preowned clubs to save more.
  5. Hit the next one . Maybe that one will be better.

    Tiger or Jack?

They were the best of their eras. That’s all I know.
  7. I will second this. They are fantastic. Just give them a call they will take care of you.
  8. I usually get 4A when I order from Lostgolfballs. I’m like you prices are just to crazy. I have found the quality to be very good. Every once in a while I’ll hit one and it feels terrible so I get rid of but it’s not very often. I get new balls as a present and honestly I can’t tell if it’s a new or used ball except the rare occasion I get a bad one. I have never gone below the 4A balls but I’ve been happy with them.
  9. Funny I just had this discussion with the pro at the course I play sim golf at. I’m short with every club. He watched and said you just don’t swing as hard as when I gave you lessons. He also noticed my launch angles are really high compared to what he saw outside.
  10. Maybe a 48 degree wedge and possibly bend it down a degree if you’re only looking to add 1 club . A 4 utility is nice to have too. I find mine very useful but that gap you have in your wedges would bother me.
  11. I keep a backup/ travel bag. When I replace something in my gamer bag that goes in my backup bag and whatever gets knocked out of the backup bag gets traded in.
  12. I don’t think there is a magic handicap number to switch. I know single handicaps that play GI irons because they like how they perform. I know another guy with a much higher handicap than me and he plays players irons because that’s what he likes and he’s not worried about being a couple strokes better. Switch if you want but use a reputable fitter and follow his feedback.
  13. If it were me I would do the lessons. If you’re newer to the game the group lesson might be more beneficial since they will cover the swing overall.
  14. I have a Tour Edge version of the smart sole and I am pretty automatic with it out of the sand. It’s also pretty great chipping out of deep rough with it.
  15. There is a lot of stuff out there. There is a You Tube channel called Golfallyear that was helpful. He had a lot of good tips to get the most out of the Optishot. A few others that I can’t recall were helpful on how to tape the driver so you could use one more accurately. I use my own version of taping based on some things I found. I never liked not using a ball.
  16. I have a small area I can hit in. I can’t use real balls because of damage they might do. I use Almost Golfballs and the feedback is pretty good and I don’t break anything. I also have a putting mat. I picked up an Optishot a couple of years ago to breakup the monotony of just hitting balls. I would have liked some kind of launch monitor but because of lack of space and not being able to use real balls it seemed like a waste of money. The Optishot came with 15 courses and it reads irons pretty well. Distance is very close to what I get on the course. Where the ball impacts the club face is also pretty accurate. I tested that by putting some powder on the club face and the mark on the club was almost exactly the same in most cases. Based on where the ball hits the net it reads open, closed and close to square club face well. I found a way to put tape on the bottom of my driver and I get pretty good readings with that. Some days I use the range feature and it’s nice I can play a round for something different.
  17. My post was meant as a cautionary tale. Just pay attention to what you’re seeing during the fitting whether it’s paid or free. Ask the price of each shaft. Take notes mental/on paper how each shaft performs. I mostly pay attention to 3 things distance, dispersion and launch angle. I know the other info is important but I understand those 3. I have had better fitting experiences at the PGASS. That last one left me with a bad feeling. Good luck on your search
  18. My last experience with a free one wasn’t great. I will admit it ended up alright. He kept bringing shafts with a pretty big markup and said he didn’t have any of the stock shafts available for the driver I was testing except in stiff or senior. None of the stiffs worked at all. Most of the regular shafts he was bringing me were $75 to $100 extra. I actually found one of the stock shafts in the next bay over . It wasn’t that hard. It performed as well to me as the more expensive shafts he was bringing me. He tried explaining why it didn’t work as well but I’m a simple guy and according to where the ball was landing on the sim it was in the same area as the shafts he was trying to get me to buy. This will be my 4th year using that driver because I keep finding the fairway.
  19. My brother in law’s home course gave me fits the first few times I played there. There are a lot of tee shots that just didn’t fit my eye and got in my head. Now that I am used to it I’m fine there but it took many rounds.
  20. I can’t haven’t gotten to great yet but I can tell you what got me from 20 to the 13.7 I ended this year at. Lessons , the biggest help with those have been when something gets off with my swing I know what the cause is and I know what to do to hopefully correct. Getting better on and around the green. The last might sound weird. Stop caring about GIR. Let me explain. A few years ago I would go for a GIR from just about anywhere. I must of gotten tired of triple bogeys. Now I don’t worry about GIR unless I’m on the fairway. Bad tee shot now and my thought process now is where can I put the second shot where I can get on in 3 and 1 or 2 putt. Even from the fairway if there is a forced carry and I’m uncomfortable with the shot I lay up . It’s not sexy but it’s lowered my scores quite a bit with also improving on and around the green. I’ve averaged mid 80s the last 2/3 years.
  21. Love the video. I might have to put off the iron fitting I’m thinking about at the Seventy until this thing is out just to try it
  22. I haven’t played on a sim yet that you couldn’t play a round with multiple players.
  23. I use these also. I don’t really have a safe area to hit real balls where I set up my hitting area. About as close to a real ball I’ve found. They are also durable.
  24. Having dealt with Sub 70 I can tell you they really do a good job of getting the right shaft by phone. They have a lot of shaft options and even if it’s not listed they can usually get it if you’re looking for something in particular. They do have some fitters they work with but you’d have to call to see if one is in your area. They also do in person fittings if you live close enough.
