RookieBlue7
Got home today to find this sitting by the door: So I picked her up and shook her a little and noticed a little pinging noise... I'm hoping FedEx hasn't broken anything after hearing this... Tear the top off and out this comes... Nothing is broken, and I hope you can see it in the picture, but there's a little surprise baggie attached to the baggie the main item is in... So I tear the bags open and remove them in all their glory... First, the small baggie gets opened: Then the larger sleeve and BOOM goes the dynamite... Head EXPLODED at first glance of this beauty... No, your eyes don't deceive you. The raining graphics at the butt end go right up to the ProjectX logo and then there's a break and then they resume down near the tip all the way to 1" from the bottom, where the raining graphics aren't present as this will be prepped anyway. From the exposed weave to the subtle blue raining specs/model (this is a 6.0 LZ16 that has 3.8 torque) to the attention to detail down to the fact that this sucker is hand rolled graphite, ProjectX has a visual winner. I'll be installing it into a Taylor Made adapter and will be trying it in my SLDR 460 10.5 as well as the SLDR 430 12 degree I purchased today from Peepz. Regardless, this shaft is beautiful. The divot tool was not expected, yet an AWESOME touch of class to go with this product line. And I can't wait to get everything ready to go. I'll leave you with a vintage style photo, as the Handcrafted logo reminds me of a vintage surf logo. And I want to give True Temper a special thank you, as I've had the opportunity to test several shafts, and nearly every one of them have found bag time for me, with the exception being the PX Black, as I just couldn't find a head I could get along with it in. I've bagged the BiMatrix Prototype, PXv Tour, and a few others for extended periods of time, and the PXv is still in my favorite driver I own in the Superfast 2.0 LCG. That head and shaft is just special. The BiMatrix Proto just flat out works for me, and I've moved it around in several heads (which is AWESOME and simple because of the steel tip section). And honestly, after all the reading up I've done on THIS shaft, the Handcrafted LZ, I'm absolutely STOKED to give it a whirl. I'll update on the shaft at a reasonable time when I've given it a run through the paces. RookieBlue7
Alright, I've been working with this club for a while now. I put the SFTP back in the bag a few rounds ago for a round then went back to this one because I want to try to make it work. I've been hitting it for the last 3 rounds again, and then I went for a trackman session. So how did it perform? We'll get to that in a bit.I LOVE the SLDR 430 head shape and size. I did go way up in loft for me trying to loft up and hit the 17/1700 and I've still got a bit to go to get there. But, with that said, I've noticed here in the wetter conditions we're seeing at the moment, the carry is beneficial because of the roll being cut down. If the fairways will dry out and firm up, it'll be nice to see what kind of roll I'll be getting. But this isn't a review on the head, this is a review on the shaft. The shaft, at least in the many times I've hit it, has a very good feel to it. The shaft loads a lot (feel wise) and you can feel it unload and whip through the ball. The butt end of the shaft has a nice firm feel, but the tip is very responsive. I did tip it 1/2" just like I did with the other PX shaft I've been hitting (PXv Tour) on the recommendation of the guys at True Temper. It, flex wise, plays pretty much identically. Now, on to the data. My swingspeed average was 112.3. That's right where it's been hovering for me for a few years now. I feel like I'm swinging harder than before, but that's probably because I've gained 20 pounds in the last 2 years or so, lol, and it's all around the midsection. I need to lose some weight and get more flexibility back, lol.Anyway, my numbers were as follows:SwingSpeed: 112.3Launch Angle: 15.7Spin: 2325Carry: 286.7 yardsThose were averages. I hit a few that were longer and a few that were shorter, but that's the averages. Roll, like I said, was little due to it being wet. I also wasn't hitting the ball I normally play, as they have Srixon balls there (they have a Cleveland/Srixon deal and the Cleveland Tour truck at that end of the range. All the instructor's guys on tour are Cleveland/Srixon guys. One of which won the Valero Texas Open recently. So that's what they stock there.). Anyway, I'm pleased with the numbers from this shaft/head combo, and it works well for me at the moment. I still need to work on the swing some, but the numbers are there. Love the shaft and it's feel/responsiveness. It's about as smooth as it gets.
