Heres hoping someone who knows more about this than me can chime in. We are building a home and getting a 5.1 surround sound system, the 4 surround speakers are Klipsch in wall speakers, the center channel due to the dimensions of room wont go in the wall on center which will drive me nuts, so they are willing to sell us either a Klipsch G16 ($140) or G12 ($105). I cant seem to find if this is really an upgrade for the 16. Can someone please help?

Looks like the g12 has (1) 3 1/2" speaker and a horn, while the g15 has (2) 3 1/2" speakers and a horn.

So will the 16 be louder? Sound better? etc?

Should have a little more low-end and maybe sound 'bigger'.

First you want to verify and match the tweeter materials. You want soft dome with soft dome, Titanium with tita.. etc. You may want to listen to them first as well. For instance I prefer a much thicker or warmer sounding center, with soft tweeters to reduce sibilance.

I assume these will match the in wall speakers materials as they are what he recommends (and only options) for the set up

The G12 & 16 are from Klipsch's thin panel series. Looks like Klipsch primarily uses a horn loaded dynamic tweeter in their speakers so blending sound should be seamless. What you need to consider then is that the 12 has only one 3.5" woofer and the 16 has 2. In theory the 16 will be warmer sounding and beefier than the 12.
