Joyzee10
Looking for some hidden gems in the Scottsdale/Greater Phoenix area. Already have Troon North Monument booked (which we got a KILLER price on) but wanted to hear from the masses on some bang for buck tracks we should consider. Bare in mind we are coming from Vancouver so its about a 30% price increase for anything you suggest!! Cheers! Joyzee What's In The Bag? Joyzee10
Quintero is going to pop up a lot in this thread. I'll be first to recommend it Thanks! Looks beautiful! What about Wickenburg? Buddy of mine just text me saying some guy he was talking to prefers this over Troon - bit of a drive apparently. What's In The Bag? gaussman1
I'm fine with Wickenburg Ranch, but it's collection of 6 par 3s and 5 par 5s is a bit odd. Some guys get turned off by that Rogue SZ 10.5 *NEW* Fujikura Pro Green 65 X Rogue 15 degree Evnflow Blue 6.5 Back in the Bag Z765 4-G Nippon Modus 120 Stiff 54 and 60 Amazing Grace Ass Kicker

mesaman777
Since your already up by Troon, the Boulder's is fantastic. Also in that area is Greyhawk. TPC is near by and Kierland as well. Stone Creek is a good bang for the buck near the mall on Tatum. That's just in that area, there are so many middle of the road courses that are spectacular in their own right. revkev
Can't help beyond the fact that my folks retired there and I left some fond memories of the place. TPC is delightful but not hidden. My favorite memories - the night my wife and I ended up at a shooting range in the desert with a couple we met at a bar, the time my mom picked me up at Sky Harbor and we literally sat down for the ball being thrown up for the opening tip of the UConn sweet sixteen march to the ‘04 National Championship and going to a Cardinal/Giant game with my grandfather for his 95th birthday. There are some Fiesta Bowls in there too but they pale compared to these. Just the first thought of flying over Scottsdale as I land in Phoenix this summer is exciting to me. My recommendation is, go. Kenny B
I'm sure you will get all of the top courses mentioned. I will certainly second Grayhawk. Wildfire GC at the JW Marriott is nice if you can get a good rate; I prefer the Faldo course, but the Palmer course is fine too. I did shoot my all-time best round of 69 at the Palmer course. The LPGA played the Founders Cup there last month As far as hidden gems... not really sure what you are looking for. A little less expensive that the more well-known courses is the Legacy GC off Baseline Road. I enjoyed that course last year. A lot of the LPGA players live by the course. Even less expensive is Palm Valley GC in Goodyear. The Palms course is an Arthur Hills designed course, and they also have an executive Lakes course. I have always liked Arthur Hills courses, and this one is no exception. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

We came into this trip saying “we will shell out a bit more for a nice course and then be conservative on the others...†Well we got Troon for $125, double play at Wickburg for $180 and kick it all off with a $45 twilight at longbow. We are in too deep now with nice courses to go backwards on the last day lol!! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy What's In The Bag?
