bens197
Have any of you ever explored the idea of making your own putters or wedges? I am intrigued by the folks who have dug in and made some excellent product in recent years. null
One would need a cnc milling machine and Autocad-like software, no? I don't think those are cheap.

I was hoping that someone here had explored what's involved. cnosil
CNC milling isn't required, you can do it with a handmill. I have thought about it, but initial costs would be prohibitive. HardcoreLooper
I used to work for an engineering consulting firm. A buddy there designed a couple of putters with the solid object modeling software we used and had them milled. Initial costs were prohibitive as @cnosil says. RookieBlue7
You don't need Cnc capabilities. LaMont started out on a grizzly benchtop mini mill in his garage. You can buy those for $600-700 and $1200 with 3 axis cnc. You can go as elaborate as you want with them but to make putters you don't need to spend all that. I've been toying with the mill and lathe at work and once I get where I'm comfortable on them, I'll buy myself a benchtop mill and make a couple here and there. You can buy a good used Bridgeport for a couple grand for a full size mill In The BagDriver: TaylorMade M2 (2017) w/ Project X T1100 HZRDUS Handcrafted 65x Strong 3 wood: Taylormade M1 15* w/ ProjectX T1100 HZRDUS handcrafted 75x3 Hybrid: Adams PRO 18* w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4 Hybrid: Adams PRO 20* (bent to 21*) w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4-AW: TaylorMade P770 w/ Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Black Onyx S400 SW: 56* Scratch Tour Dept(CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerLW: 60* Scratch Tour Department (CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerXW: 64* Cally XForged Vintage w/ DG X100 8 iron tiger steppedPutter: Nike Method Prototype 006 at 34"Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up.
