Odyssey Ai-ONE Putters - 2023 Forum Review

Been quite a while since an update on this thread…

Played my last 2 rounds with my prior gamer and had 31 putts each time out, but feel the stats don’t tell the whole story.  Missed a lot of greens but the chipping was very good.

Had three 3-putts this last round which was primarily due to speed control.

As I look at the round and think about things, considering getting some heavier weights for the Ai-ONE to see if that makes a difference…still thinking.

My custom built putter honeymoon phase is over, but it is a great putter and now my #2 !

.. sigh

DB is going back in the bag ASAP! I need to get back on the greens with it to see if it's me or the putter that's the issue (it's always gonna be me 😆)

I know it’s me also, but typically blame the putter!

Was struggling for a few rounds seeing the ball come off the face, but putted well with the Ai-ONE before, so I know there is potential there…just need to find it again!

I’ve dabbled with the Odyssey DF992 here and there and always return to Millie…Versa (my other 7 style putter) I sold to my niece, but I think she’s parked it in favor a blade style.  None of that helps you, but maybe offers a little commiseration!  😁

Haha, appreciate the “help”!

Im going to spend some time practicing with the standard configuration before making any changes at this point.

A weight change or a grip change would be the first things to happen if I did anything.

@TJ Hall before buying, if you have someone in the tire business, grab a couple stick on weights( they come right off ) to see if that helps. The weights come in many different measurements . Making the putter a little heavier will need more touch from what I found with my putters.

I had an early doctor's appointment today, and on their questionnaire, they asked about my hobby. Naturally, I mentioned golf!  After the appointment, they surprised me with a gift bag that included some funny golf socks and a sleeve of Vice Drive balls. I’ll be trying them out tomorrow. Plus, I scored some 14g tire weights for free.

Any you guys with putter-of-the-month syndrome, I will once again say PUTT CROSS HANDED.  Go to my post in Drills Fitness etc.   Step by Step guide .  Find a face balanced putter, do like Brian Harman or Billy Horschel or Xander Shuffle.  It took me a while to figure where to  place each hand.  I don't have stats, I don't get out often enough or play a full round.  But I have no issues.

#1  PXG 0211 10.5 deg, Evnflo Riptide CB 40 gram A flex.

3W: Callaway Steelhead Xr,  Tensei Blue CK 55 gram A flex.

5W : Titleist TSi 1,    Aldila Ascent 40 regular flex.

Driving Iron: Mizuno MP 18 MMC Fli-Hi 3i 18 degree, Recoil 95 reg flex.

4 iron:  GFF Mizuno Fly-Hi, 24 degree forged hollow body,  Aerotech Steelfiber 😍😃💥.

5 Hybrid: Mizuno (2017) JPX Fli-Hi wave tech, Recoil ESX 460 reg flex.

Irons: 6 - PW: Ping I 500, on Recoil Smacwrap ES 760, reg flex.

Wedges: 2 x Mizuno S5 52/09.  1@ 50 deg, 1@ 54 deg; New (July 2024) Mizu ES 21, 58 x 08, jet black.

Chipper: Don Martin "Up n In" brass/bronze. 🙂

Putter: Odyssey Stroke Lab "R" Ball, face balanced, with 2 piece Stroke Lab multi material shaft.🙃💘

I added 52 grams of weight, bringing the total weight of the putter to 417 grams.  It feels much better!  Now it's time to test it out on the course tomorrow.

Curious how it works for you on the course.

Practiced with the standard configuration tonight inside (short distance) and was liking the feel.  Will be spending some more time practicing and plan to use it during my next round.

As someone with a background in baseball and hockey, I’ve always preferred the feel of heavier bats and sticks in my hands. It’s stems from that! I’ve positioned the weights in the space under the two-ball, right behind the face.

Here's a picture of my putter showing where I placed the weights. I putted quite well today, due to the practice I had with it yesterday.

I did mess around with swapping weights on the DB. Mine came with 2, 15g round weights.  It's on the first page in my final review.  @TJ Hall

But some AI model putters came with square weights
