Byungwook
Hi, Has anyone purchased a Ping G430 driver from tgw.com with $213 upcharge for Ventus TR shaft? Their upcharge is less than the other stores and I’m wondering if TGW is using the VeloCore version or non-VeloCore version. I ordered it Friday night and found that there was no mention of VeloCore in the confirmation email and I called them on Sat. The rep did not even know what VeloCore is and she said it ‘should be’ a VeloCore version in a very non-convincing way. i wanted the answer in writing and sent them a mail, but just got an auto-reply that told me to contact them by calling them. I text messages them and a rep said they will get back to me in 2 business days, but it would be too late to cancel the custom order if I get the answer on Tue. Please let me know. Thanks, BK Quote

Josh Parker
At $213 upcharge my guess would be its the Velocore. bens197 1 Quote Paradym TD Driver w/ Ventus Blue 6S 3W MKII ZX 5's (4-6) w/ KBS Tour V MKII ZX 7's (7-PW) w/ KBS Tour V Vokey Wedges 50* 54* 58* DF2.1 Putter

Actually, Tour Edge offers both the Ventus Blue and Red shafts in the non-VeloCore versions, and Callaway was offering them a couple of years ago, although I don’t think that they continue to offer those shafts. Tour Edge continues to offer both of the non-VeloCore versions of the Ventus shafts as a standard shaft in their Exotics C-Series drivers and fairway woods. I believe you are correct. $213 is more than the non-VeloCore Ventus shaft sells for (my Fujikura dealer price for that shaft is almost $100 less than that, and their suggested retail price for that shaft is $200. The upcharge from TaylorMade for the Ventus and Ventus TR VeloCore shafts is $300, so $213 is fairly reasonable by comparison. If Ping is charging that high of an upcharge for the non-VeloCore Ventus shaft, it would be a case of “gouging”, as I suspect that Ping gets those shafts for about half of what I have to pay for them (maybe less). If it is a “real deal” Tensei AV or Diamana S+/D+ shaft model that is the stock offering, the upcharge should certainly be less than if the OEM is offering a cheap generic shaft model as the stock offering. Byungwook
Thanks a lot for the quick replies, GolfSpy_APH, funkyjudge, and Josh Parker. I feel a little bit more relieved, even though there is no definitive answer yet. I was worried if I overpaid for a non-VeloCore shaft. I will definitely post an update if I get an official response from tgw.com or receive the driver, whichever is sooner. If there is anyone who actually bought a Ping wood from tgw.com with the Ventus shaft, please confirm which version of the shaft you got. Thanks, BK Josh Parker
Byungwook
Just got a response from TGW. They said that Ping confirmed that it is a VeloCore version. I will post, if it is not the case when I receive the driver. Thanks a lot for your help again! Josh Parker and Fred Mitchell

Byungwook
Received the driver today and it is indeed a VeloCore version. Also ordered G430 3-wood and 3-hybrid from TGW after confirming that they are also VeloCore versions. Their upcharge is quite reasonable. ($213 for driver/wood and $123 for hybrid) Josh Parker
