They all look like that with this edition, just a different base color for the different star levels. The one they sent for my wife is VERY pink. She's not the biggest fan of that, haha.

So a box arrived shortly before Christmas. There are a few unusual things that I might detail out in my review, but needless to say I was surprised when I opened it up.
As special as a Honma Beres driver is to begin with. These are some extra special ones.
Took mine out for the first time today (wife is a fair weather only golfer) and initial thoughts are positive.

I'm chalking this up to the current shipping/supply chain issues. When the clubs get here, they get here and we'll take them out for testing! No offseason here in SoCal, so it'll be doable regardless. My wife also got the PXG 0211Z set, so that driver will probably give a much more fair competition for the Honma to try and beat than her old boxed set driver would have been. (also probably worth mentioning we received the PXG clubs like 5 days after the order was confirmed)

Initial convo with wife:
Me: "Hey, we got selected for the golf club test I told you about. Come check it out!" (shows her the Honma Beres website)
Wife (who admittedly isn't a golf club fanatic): "Looks interesting. Where are the pictures of the other clubs?"
Me: "What other clubs?"
Wife: "The other clubs they put in that set."
Me: "It's not a set, it's just the driver."
Wife: "It says it's $850."
Me: "Yep."
Wife: "That's crazy."
Me: "Well that's the cheap one actually."

Played the previous version and really liked it, but I have a hard time committing to buying new balls and then just playing those. Having a course that eats balls of even the lowest handicappers doesn't help, but it's more mental than anything. Maybe these Maxflis can be the one?

Personally, testing the MLM would be cool, but I’m more interested in the opportunity to try the coaching services. It’s great that there are so many reasonably priced personal launch monitors these days, but the fact remains most golfers don’t really have the knowledge to translate the info to actionable data. Having a coach to do that seems like a great pair.

I would love to participate. Honestly would probably try the one-length if possible as I've been itching to give that a go. That would put me in the RAD Speed. The bag is 2021 PXG 0211's top to bottom at the moment.
Honma 2-Star Beres Driver

As a bit of a follow up to my review, I passed my Beres on to someone it would be a better fit for (90-95mph swing speed, struggles with a slice) and he absolutely loves it. He demoed a Stealth as well, but the Honma was both longer and better dispersion for him.
