  1. Digression - but how do you get the adapter off without ruining it? Last time I tried I got it so hot the adapter was jacked, but I had to do it to remove the adapter. It wouldn't budge. I've decided to take shafts to my golf shop if I want to save the adapter. I just use epoxy from Lowe's or Harbor Freight. Never had an issue. Good luck figuring it out!
  2. That's strange @Vernon. I have not been making clubs long, but I have never had an epoxy failure in about 20 clubs myself, regardless of using quick setting or long setting epoxy.
  3. Good morning, Spies! Long work day for me today. Maybe some break time putting in the office, but otherwise everyone else go forth and play well!
  4. This is so sad and troubling. To think that the person who had a hand in making the ball we play in our next round died or was injured in that fire. It sounds as if they worked in a casually managed fireworks factory. I'm also a pragmatist, and anticipating the price of golf balls (including used ones) increasing due to scarcity, or balls at least becoming harder to find in the short term even if sellers hold the line on prices, I ordered 4 dozen Maxfli Tour X last night (with the special pricing for that volume, and a $10 Dick's/Golf Galaxy reward in play). The invisible hand is already going to work.
  5. Good morning Spies! Not much golf-related going on in my world today, except that I shipped out 4 clubs today to eBay buyers as part of the Great Pre-Simulator Build Sell-Off. It's slow-going, but will be worthwhile when complete (one hopes). I hope you all have Super Tuesdays. Fairways and greens!
  6. Good morning! Another gorgeous morning in Indy. No golf today for me sadly. Had a great round of fun with friends yesterday afternoon, where I got to play the Hogan blades for the first time. I was surprised at how well we did together. I admit my expectations were low, as I have never gamed blades before. Ended with 45% GIR (which is great for this typical scrambler) and they felt so sweet. The ball does seem to disappear (feeling-wise) at impact on pure hits. Highlights were a 180 yard 4i that stuck the green and never moved, and a 130 yard 9i to within 4 feet. The Apex #4 shafts seem to fit in the Goldilocks spot between a KBS Tour and Project X LZ, with mid launch and moderate spin. They tend to draw for me too. Was still blissed out about being able to hit them into the evening. That Hogan guy must have known what he was doing. It was such a fun afternoon - what golf is supposed to be like. I am very thankful. Wishing you all fantastic Mondays and super weeks!
  7. Date 09/24/2023 Course Name Golf Club of Indiana Gross Score 82 Course Handicap 8 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 290 VCT Match Play Gamed the Hogan Apex II Cameo irons, which performed remarkably well! A beautiful day and fun round with these clubs and good friends.
  8. I posted the question again in the Maltby Clubmaking forum, and received a response that the Maltby M890 LL flex is the shaft that tested with a very similar profile to the Autoflex. I have one on the way for only $25. Will report back …
  9. Hope you dad loves the TS3s @azstu324!
  10. Only a wedge for me. Primarily the Maltby TS1 gap wedge with ugly lead tape and a KBS shaft. I will be shocked if it ever leaves my bag. I intend also to keep my Paradym TD forever, but “know thyself” right? Shiny new stuff will be out this spring … we’ll see. CHA problems are real!
  11. Following up on the KE4 Tour FDI hybrid 2 iron - after one round I like it, but think I need more time with it. It is looooong, penetrating ball flight, good roll-out and easy to hit, but I find that I tend to draw it more than any other clubs. (I found the same with the 3 iron.) I think if I focus on a correct swing path that will be easily corrected. It does not pull the ball OB or anything, but I need to learn to control/play that draw so it finds more fairways and fewer left roughs. 240+ and always inbounds is still solid. P.S. I really like the Atmos black XS hybrid shaft in the club too. It does not feel XS at all - not boardy -- can feel the load. (I am 100-105 typical driver speed btw, so not really an XS fit for me typically.)
  12. Busy Friday, but then a fun weekend on tap. Golf too! Hope everyone had good weeks, and has great weekends! I should not game the Hogans Sunday, right? (He's gonna game the Hogans, and he'll have stories to tell Monday.)
  13. A fitting is key. For the low price of $100, I got an hour long shaft fitting at PGATSS that helped me identify the iron shaft that was best for me. I probably hit 10 different shafts that day, gradually narrowing them down to the right one. It's way cheaper than trial and error buying shafts. Strongly recommend it! Good luck!
  14. Good morning! No golf for me today, but planning for the weekend regripping of the vintage Hogan Apex II Cameo irons that have arrived! They are quite long, so even with me playing 1/2" long I have to cut them down some before adding the grips. I am so excited to hit these blades! I had good luck this week with the Miura CB57s which have smaller heads than my Maltbys, so fingers crossed I may be able to actually strike the ball. (Doubtful, but hope springs eternal). 3-P (Equalizer), with a SW (Sand Iron) and Lob Wedge (Sure Out) arriving from eBay today. (3 iron not shown - oops.) Watch for these for sale in the Classifieds in a few months. LOL. I hope you all have super days!
  15. I too had to change balls to lower spin, but get good results now. Good luck!
  16. Hey Tom - thanks for this. Do you mind sharing how you mounted your projector?
  17. Good morning, Spies! It's a busy workday, but with a gorgeous view of the sunny late summer weather. A neighbor and I played a late, leisurely, walking/carrying 9 holes yesterday on a nearby muni course. It was one of those perfect afternoons with long shadows, an uncrowded course, and low-70's temps. We both played well, too. Work and life have interfered with my planned putter testing rather significantly, to the point that I have not been able to do it at all. That said, without anything more than looking at my putts per round, I can say that the Scotty Cameron Special Select Fastback 1.5 with the UST Mamiya All-In Retrofit graphite shaft and Garsen Max grip is a game-changer. I had one 3-putt yesterday (totally my fault), but holed 3 loooong putts to end with only 16. That's on top of a 28-putt 18-hole effort a couple weeks ago. I was concerned that the retrofit shaft would not work with the Scotty shaft because the Scotty shaft has a larger diameter. The retrofit says it fits into a .370 shaft (which is smaller than the Scotty), but with one wrap of metal tape and a tad extra epoxy it is solid as can be. I'm extremely pleased. For less than $99, this shaft in particular seems to be a winner for me. I'm digging the grip too. Many thanks to MGS for the great reviews of the Garsen grips. I digressed there, eh? Anyway, best wishes to all of you for a fantastic Tuesday!
  18. Good morning! It's back to work for me after a fun weekend. The band gig Saturday night was a total blast, and the venue asked us back ASAP, so that's all a plus. That said, I should have played flute, not drums. Anyone who thinks carrying a bag of clubs is tough: don't volunteer as a roadie. My first round of golf in a few weeks is set for late this afternoon. I am very much looking forward to it, in sweater weather no less! I hope you all have a great day and great weeks!
  19. Good morning! An absolutely gorgeous day on tap here today. I have to take my car into the shop or I would be headed to the range at least. Maybe they will finish it early? One can dream. Wishing you all fantastic days!
  20. Just popping in to wish everyone a super day. Back to the salt mines. Fairways and greens!
  21. Holy crap @BigDaddy! That's impressive. I suspect @PJVicary started this thread to justify his own collection, and I am very appreciative! This thread will be very useful in explaining my addiction to FABWIFE, especially since the garage is a very messy staging area for all the clubs I have for sale!
  22. That looks pretty sweet @azstu324. Behold the cousin - just arrived -- KE4Tour FDI 2 iron 19* (still with plastic on).
