  1. Good morning Spies! it looks like a good day on tap here. A little work, some gym time, and then 18 holes at Crooked Stick. I’m very fortunate to have a friend and colleague, who is a member there. Then FABWIFE and I are joining some friends at a Blues Jam/open mic tonight frequented by many professional musicians on their night off. This sounds to me like more fun than I should be allowed to have on a Tuesday. I’m sure I’ll pay for it at the office tomorrow. Lol. Reading about the Jonathan Taylor drama unfolding at Colts camp pains me as a football fan. I don’t see a winner emerging from it. But this is a golf forum, right? That sort of thing doesn't happe … never mind. I wish you all a Super Tuesday. Fairways and greens!
  2. I went to the range, and had some surprising, and some not-so-surprising results. Maybe I am not as bad from inside 100 as I thought, and my poorer performances (both on range today and lately on the course) from 120+ are clouding my perspective. It was beautiful but windy. No top tracer, and had to use the distances the range gave me. Here goes. Part I -- 95 yards -- Not Awful Conclusions: Not too bad. Wondering if results would be better with an 80% Gap Wedge as opposed to the full Sand Wedge. This can be improved with some practice. No glaring faults I could determine. Part II -- 112 Yards -- Surprising Conclusions: I'll take 70%. If I don't aim two shots and swing fully, those may have also been on. All misses right, which is consistent with the wind direction and with my typical miss. Part III -- 140 Yards -- Trouble Conclusions: Lots of work to do here. Admittedly, the wind was messing with me, and I was not swinging well at this point. 140 is typically a perfect easy 9 iron. Not today. Lots of misses right or thin, which for my swing means I am not finishing my swing and not turning my body -- trying to do it all with my arms and hands (drummer-itis). Thin shots result from me getting too quick in my transition and, again, using too much hands/not enough hip/body turn. Need to drill the hip turn and full finish swing/belt buckle pointed at or left of target. I will try to get some swing video soon. I appreciate any suggestions you fine folks can offer. Thank you for endeavoring to assist me. I am grateful.
  3. These are great suggestions and questions. I am headed to the range with alignment sticks to do some testing, see if I can ascertain what's going on. Pretty sure my left misses are simple right shoulder over the top sloppiness, which is easily fixed. I will try to do some testing/data on misses. Video may have to wait - will see what I can MacGyver up.
  4. Unfortunately no. Best I can do is the Foresight inside at PGATSS, which is not the same as outdoors, of course.
  5. Aim and distance are fine. I need to dial in the accuracy of the shot itself - I miss right and left, unfortunately. I guess what I am asking for is drills to dial in a consistent swing/shot with approach irons -- one that goes toward the aim point, consistently. My expectation is to hit a significant majority of greens from within 100 yards, and more than 50-60% from 150-in.
  6. Any recommendations? I really need to improve my GIR, and this should be a focus. Aside from going to the range and trying to dial in 50/75/100 etc. by banging balls, any suggestions? My aim is good - it's swing consistency I need to improve on.
  7. Good morning Spies! What a great weekend. Also played some good golf yesterday. Man a double or two just decimates the scorecard! But the game felt good, which is a spirit lifter. I hope you all have super days and weeks. Off to catch up on my forum reading!
  8. https://www.golfworks.com/clubs/maltby-paks/?_bc_fsnf=1&Club+Type=Wedge Lots of good reviews around on these. Good luck!
  9. Date 07/30/2023 Course Name River Glen Gross Score 83 Course Handicap 11 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better 3 Longest Drive 276
  10. I f***ing love Deadwood. “SwenJen!” But so much of Deadwood is taken. So I choose Anton: One of the best performances ever. And yes, it’s a western I have to think being the anti-hero would be the most fun acting job ever. Ever. Glad I found this thread. Sounds … fun. Do you wish to stay involved, yes or no?
  11. Date 07/28/2023 Course Name Eagle Creek - Pines Gross Score 84 Course Handicap 9 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 3 Net Score 75 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 277 Feel like I played better than my score. Two doubles in a row on the front hurt a lot. Birdie putts would not drop. Hit some good iron shots though. I shoot +11 or +12 every time at this course. Cannot seem to break through even though playing better. Need to do some analysis on that. Shot of the day was this 180 yard 6 iron on the 453 yard par 4, which was my sole birdie on the day. (Again, putts not falling.) Felt great!
  12. Good morning Spies! It’s getting hot in Indy. So of course we tee off at 2:00 today. I am already hydrating. I wish you all days like a middle school yearbook inscription: Stay Cool.
  13. My primary golfing buddy is always getting on me about my habitual tinkering with clubs. EXCEPT when it comes to putters, which is the location of his terrible CHA affliction. Scotty Camerons and super-expensive shafts galore, special markings/engravings/colors/voodoo spells . . . you name it. Anyway, he's been on me to try a glam Tiffany's-Hermes joint venture shaft in my putter. I have resisted. But then . . . After reading a ton about graphite putter shafts, perusing threads in this and other forums (fora?) about the obviously incredible/non-existent and tangible/placebo benefits, I started to wonder what the graphite putter shaft Cristal-flavored Kool-Aid tasted like. I trundled off to GG and PGATSS to try all manner of putter shafts: StrokeLab, Accra, LA Golf, BGT Stability, KBS, etc. I even went online looking for the mythical TPT putter shaft, which apparently is hiding somewhere at The Gates Foundation Unicorn and Yeti Preserve with all my favorite Elmer T. Lee and Rock Hill Farm bourbon. (I'm not bitter, you are.) None of the different putter heads at the stores seemed materially better than my husky and trusty lead-weighted Ping G Shea. But yeah ... those graphite stability shafts felt really good, especially the most expensive ones. I had caviar dreams. Then I stumbled onto various sites citing sightings of the UST Mamiya All In graphite shaft. And then I went to the PGATSS and hit some of the (very nice!) Cleveland Soft-Milled putters built with the All In shaft. I fell in love with it, and the price. Some might say I went . . . nah, too easy. This is a cheeky way of saying I bought a new Ford Taurus. The UST Mamiya All In Retrofit, which is the model to fit my Ping, is on its way for the low low price of $95 shipped (plus $10 for digital calipers at Harbor Freight for the assembly). Perhaps it really is as good as a Maybach. I'll know pretty soon. And I'll write a shorter review, too. https://www.ustmamiya.com/golf-shafts/brands/all-in-putter-shaft/all-in-putter-shaft-new/ The best deal I found: https://billybobsgolf.com/product/ust-all-in-putter-shaft-coming-2023/
  14. Yessir, I did. Effortless just like we want . . . Last one here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/354806387000?hash=item529c1bd138:g:fmEAAOSwY75kbmQS&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4HoxqJWrCixC5ZRxwpUHwghjWiEdV1Pp9jkLb%2FxH0AcCNG0VtS3qEk2B3gThesPIQM5g5zSLHfDcDl7%2BD8Yl2eWkbertgVCMhNLTUZKFWJCsmL2iEDMPl5wpllcwYOEFmJzj%2FEikfr3MZF4XeqPwggxx3ez8PiV9TSGowwOy%2BlJDdhBoG0dUiMGbMjnmrBQPwatABotWnrAHzzYmiCvlvJAvoLDDykhnAbkKRCOMMvavnqqvN4aZrhJ4sgi6WHGbnx6t274ALlF73wME7NBmmZ%2BiaLHIZZSdVtbbcExiI2G3|tkp%3ABk9SR8a5j5uzYg I found a few more L flex on eBay also. Not much online. I was looking for another JIC.
  15. Not an official reviewer, but playing the Paradym TD, and I wholeheartedly agree with the reviews here. I played in a scramble yesterday, and thanks to the Paradym had the best driving day of my life. 11/14 fairways hit, which has *never* happened for me. (Never even close, although it has been getting better and better with the Paradym.) Wish I could bottle that and keep it for non-scramble rounds. Driver had long been the worst part of my game -- now it's the best. Such is golf. I think the Paradym driver is pretty amazing.
  16. Good morning, Spies! Working through a crazy work morning so I can play in a scramble (hot!) this afternoon. Really looking forward to that! Hope the wedges and putter are on fire. Hope everyone has a super Wednesday!
  17. I completed my first iron build last night, as I reshafted/regripped the TS3 5, 6, 8 and built the TS4 9 to try. (The 7 is my tester - built by Golfworks - someday soon I will replace the ferrule to match.) If I like the TS4 9, I will likely swap out the TS1 PW and GW for TS4, although the TS4 9 will have to be really great to kick them out of the bag. Anyway, I am excited to get these out on the course today with the new shafts!
  18. Good morning, Spies! Not much to report - just a typical work day. But golf tomorrow and Friday. There is a ton going on here in the forum! Hope your Tuesdays are superb.
  19. This happened today. We have some scrambles coming up, which of course are all about bombing driver. What a great chance to try the high compression Tour X.
  20. @chisag I read that to my wife. We agree there is a lot of wisdom there. Thank you. She also says it’s clear you have never had a Bernedoodle bc they are thinking all those things. Lol.
  21. Those are excellent questions. I have not really encountered that yet. The people at Red Rooster are extremely helpful. If you email customer service and ask, you will almost certainly get a response. If it's a solution, please share, as I too would like to know! Sorry to hijack the thread, btw, but answering these good questions best I can seemed appropriate. Mods - feel free to move them (of course!) if you disagree.
  22. I was a tester, and I have subscribed for the Sussex. I signed up for every two months. I had to accelerate one order because I was playing a lot of golf, which was wonderful. It's nice to have a new one on-hand, and I also tend to rotate gloves in the heat, so reloading for that need made sense to me. I suspect I will shift to 1/month until winter comes, at least until I build up a larger rotation.
  23. That looks fantastic, Jamie! Well done. That should drive more users to the forums and the tests, add value for the OEMs, and the whole circle accelerates and expands. Great idea.
  24. Feeling like I almost have everything dialed in (although PW and GW may be in flux), I do feel like I could do for a putter upgrade, and feel drawn to a larger mallet style. The testing and choosing is already starting to inch into my thoughts most of the day . . . But that's the fun of it, I suppose.
