  1. Watching down the stretch I was *amazed* at how steady and unfazed Mr. Harman was. Automatic, like he was playing a leisurely Sunday twilight round at his club. I found it very, very impressive.
  2. Last time we were there, FABWIFE and I did a taste test of all the clam chowders we could find on the Wharf. It was goofy but we had a great time and the restaurants got a chuckle out of it too.
  3. Curious - How is the 300 mini off the deck?
  4. Good morning Spies! Typical Monday here, but on the heels of an almost too fun weekend with out of town friends. 54 holes of golf planned for the week so there is lots to look forward to. Hope your days and weeks get off to a great start.
  5. My first pic in my post is the driver “chute” on number 6 at the Fort. Unfortunately I put my first in the left trees, then played it to par plus the penalty stroke for a (truly) gross double bogey. I affectionately call the opening 6 at The Fort “The Gauntlet”. #6 is not too bad if your first is in play. Good luck to the other teams. (Not too good!)
  6. Date 07/21/2023 Course Name The Fort Gross Score 84 Course Handicap 10 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 242 Special Event Cobra 4-Club Challenge + Putter I want some do-overs! Lol Fun time with the Cobra 4-club Challenge partnering with @chisag,
  7. So here it is. Doubt I helped much! Can I replay 18? I think I played pretty well for me, considering no driver and only one wedge relatively strong wedge. Played 3W, 5I, 8I, and G. Would probably do that differently if given a second chance. Birdies were tough to come by with the longer holes being the handicap ones. Carrying driver and a hybrid may have been smarter than 3W - 5I. Anyway, it was a real blast and a beautiful day too! Thanks @chisag for letting me tag along! And thanks to Cobra and MGS for this opportunity!
  8. Good morning, Spies! At the office before 6 am, Human Bean coffee and breakfast sandwich in hand, and The Open on the tv in the background. For an early start, it could be a lot worse! Interesting here in the US with the pro wrestling ads during golf. Same audience? One wonders. I wish you all super Thursdays!
  9. Please let us know how it goes, and how they conducted the fitting, @JustSmitty! Very curious here.
  10. That's fantastic! Congratulations @McGolf!
  11. Just an update - had a good chipping and iron range practice yesterday. At the end of the range time, I hit driver a few times, noticed my ball flight seemed perhaps a bit low, then bumped the loft up 2* to 10* in the Paradym TD with MP5. It made a big difference. Now, this is with range balls, so on the course may be different, but I thought I needed to keep ball flight down to limit spin. This appears not to be the case, as I gained about 10-20 yards of carry with the added loft and focused hip turn (thinking right back pocket aimed at target on backswing). Loving this OP rabbit-hole!
  12. Good morning Spies! Coffee from my favorite spot on the way to the gym was stellar this morning, and workout is on tap, followed by another in a long line of busy workdays. Fingers crossed for some breakthroughs. Congrats @Shankster! I wish you all great days!
  13. Picked up 4 dozen mint condition of my preferred golf balls from lostgolfballs.com, with a 15% off coupon and free shipping, it saves about $30/dozen over new. Have had good fortune in the past with this company. These are not refurbished, just cleaned.
  14. I'm with @Stuka44 on this one. No. Possible. Way. This. Is. True. Think how long it would take to get 80 aces if you owned your own 150 yard par 3 and you just stood there and fired at it all day? It would still take an eternity.
  15. Yes, it's too bad b/c it's such a great shaft. The UST Mamiya Proforce V2 (A flex 56g) has crazy low torque, and the Gold 55 may also be an option. Has anyone tried those by chance?
  16. Good morning, Spies! Sadly my game today was cancelled due to a minor injury to my playing partner. Overall the cancellation (not the injury) is probably a good thing because I can focus on work, but still a bummer. Headed into the office early. Will be a long, but hopefully productive day, followed by our monthly two-hour HOA meeting from 7-9. (I’m on there to be a voice of restraint, almost solely.) Writing this out, it sounds pretty awful. Lol. It shouldn’t be. Wishing you all fabulous Tuesdays. Everyone golfing break 80 for me today please!
  17. Good morning, Spies! (It's barely still morning, but still counts!) Had a great weekend, but no golf involved. First match in a couple weeks is on tap for tomorrow, and hoping to get a bit of practice in today if I can. The forum was really busy over the weekend, and trying to catch up in snippets around work! So much good conversation going on. Hope everyone has a great Monday!
  18. We agree on the butt trimming in consecutive posts, so at least I have that right. Thanks much, @cnosil!
  19. Thank you @cnosil. That is helpful. My desired shafts are Project X LZ. They are taper tip and butt trim only for sizing. They are sold by length, not by club, hence my question re whether a 39” (3rd longest) is intended for a “standard” 38” 5 iron (assuming 40” is for a 3 iron, 39.5” for a 4 iron, etc.) or whether I should just install an uncut 38.5” shaft (which may be intended for a 6 iron following my assumption) - ? Golfworks seems to confirm my thoughts: So based on this I guess I should trim an uncut 39” shaft by 1/2” for my 5 iron, rather than using the uncut 38.5” shaft. But one wonders. On the shaft pulls I think I need to chuck them and start over. Crap. Learning is fun! LOL. (It really is.) I recognize this is basic to anyone with experience. Thank you for the help and for any other thoughts or suggestions.
  20. Good morning Spies! Workout and coffee finished, and headed into work. No golf today but I hope to get some in this weekend. Working through the iron building process for my first time, and encountered a conundrum. I won’t bore you here as I posted it in the equipment forum. But I bring it up just to say how much I appreciate this forum sending me down that very interesting path, which I never would have tried without learning so much here. Thank you MGS. And somewhat randomly, but importantly IMO, thanks to @EasyPutter for all you do for other vets through PGA Hope. I enjoy reading your updates. I wish you all a super Friday!
