  1. Had to open investigations on my Spider X and Dad's Ping Zing irons.. Now I have some Edison Forged wedges on the way and a new Ventus Blue Velocore for my driver!
  2. Awesome topic. I use the 50 and 54 around the green pretty evenly. It really depends on the shot I'm faced with. If there's nothing in the way and it's relatively flat, I'll use the 50, lean it forward a bit, and hit a low checker that trickles to the hole. Almost anything else gets the 54.
  3. I have a natural draw so for the hole mentioned above I would hit whatever club needed to set myself up with the yardage I wanted. If I have to fade it, I have no problem with doing that either. I can control either shot, the only thing keeping me from shooting lower than high 70's is inconsistent wedge play and putting.
  4. I've had the pleasure of talking with him before, it's safe to say I'm a fan! I got to use the TK-15's and liked them a lot but was still using the SCOR at the time and didn't have a reason to upgrade.
  5. Dang, I tried finding a thread before starting this one. Looks like they weren't getting much love. My only consistent miss with a wedge is catching it a little high on the face and coming up short so if this stops that it'll be a game changer for me. I figured with the risk free guarantee I had nothing to lose. Plus I miss the feeling of a forged wedge!
  6. Yep, that's him. I loved his work there.
  7. So I've been a fan of Terry Koehler's work ever since I heard of Eidolon. The V Sole technology he created truly works when it's done right, effectively creating two bounce angles so that you can play on any condition. Unfortunately Cleveland didn't copy it very well and I struggle with my RTX-3 wedges. I'm of the belief that it's impossible to truly fit a traditional grind to someone because your conditions can change from course to course and even shot to shot. When I first got into golf, I had wedges with low bounce and with my steeper swing at the time I had trouble with digging into the turf. I was fit into higher bounce angles to help with the digging, but when I played courses that were hard and had tight lies, I couldn't get under the ball very well. I was lucky enough to be a tester of the SCOR wedges on the forum I used to write for. They were unbelievably good for me, and if the faces hadn't worn out on the SW and LW I would still be gaming them. A few months ago I saw that TK was back from retirement with Edison Golf. He's completely redesigned the wedge and the robotic numbers are mind-boggling. His money back demo program is awesome so I've decided to get a set and put them through the paces. I plan to get launch monitor data along with data from on course usage and see how they do. I'll post some pictures up here when they come in and keep everyone updated on how they perform. Anybody else a fan of his work with Eidolon, SCOR, or Hogan? Anyone considering giving these a go or interested in them?
  8. Played 9 today with a friend who is just getting started. I fired a 39 with four missed birdies. Had three bogies, should've had a couple of those birds though. It was miserably hot out there today!
  9. After hearing about the Spider putters for years and seeing how popular they've become, I decided to try one out. My buddy has the copper Spider X and after using his I was sold. Then I went to make sure at the PGA Superstore and couldn't miss so I ordered a navy blue Spider X single bend. It was supposed to be here yesterday but USPS is pretty overwhelmed and the delivery date is now listed as unknown. Also bought my dad a completely refinished set of original Ping Zing irons. He always talked about how much he loved them back in the day and they were stolen outside of the pro shop. I just hope they aren't too pretty for him to hit! They are also lost in transit somewhere...
  10. Went to hit off a lie board today to check on things since my swing change. I used to be 2° upright but don't think it's necessary anymore. I guess being a bigger guy (6'2", 330 lbs) I don't look like a solid golfer so the guy hands me a huge game-improvement iron to warm up with. I asked him for the MP-20 blade and he commented it's a hard to club to hit, I told him it was fine. After I smoked three straight down the middle he checked my lie and sent me on my way. Pretty satisfying to show him up, haha. Oh, and my lie is standard now so it's time to get my set bent back to normal.
  11. I've had the pleasure of being selected twice. Both times have been on Wednesday so I could see the Par 3 Contest. Up until that point it was pure torture because I pass the course often throughout the year and always thought I may never see the inside of those gates. Every now and then Magnolia Lane's gate is open and you can see a little bit but not much. Here's to hoping I can make it three!
  12. Man, the all black is sick. The Vokey's too!
  13. FOUND! No longer needed! My friend is looking for this hybrid with a stiff 80ish gram shaft. Right handed. Please let me know if you have one you don't want anymore!
  14. I've only got to play with him once but I know he's an excellent coach, I'm wanting to book a session with him soon and also get my 6 year old involved with his kid's clinics. He offered tickets to me and a friend to come watch him play in the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island in 2012 but we weren't able to make it. I'll let ya know when I'm coming for sure, would love to join up.
  15. I was very close to an all Mizuno bag. I love their irons and always have them. Then I tried out a buddy's CLK hybrid and fell in love so I picked up one of those. I was never able to bag a hybrid because they go so far left but these have a flatter lie angle and it helps it go straight and long. Then I got fitted for a new driver and 3 wood. After trying a bunch of different options, the ST190 was the longest, most consistent option for me. I also have a Japanese Only Mizuno putter that I play from time to time. The only thing I didn't have was the wedges. They were solid and I thought about getting them but I like the ones I have too much. I may go back to the Mizuno 3 wood, I just thought I'd try out this Tour Edge but so far I'm not seeing any reason to keep it in the bag.
  16. I love the CLK hybrid! Mizuno has made the lie flatter to take the super draw bias out of play. Of course you can adjust through the adapter to go back upright. But man, those things are absolute rocket launchers and just go straight. Very repeatable distance too.
  17. This sounds completely made up but there's a random guy out there that can confirm it. I was playing a new course for the first time and was paired with a member. I went birdie, par, birdie to be -2 through 3. On the 4th I was in the middle of the fairway on a par 5 and wanted to go for it. He had a rangefinder in hand so I asked him for the number. I hit the ball right at the flag but it looked like it sailed way over the green. The closer we got I couldn't see the ball, but that's because it was 3 inches behind the hole! As I was walking to the green, the bottoms opened up and lightning hit a flag stick on the hole next to us. I ran up, tapped my ball in, and got out of there as fast as possible. Best round of my life, I was -4 through 4 and didn't get to finish.
  18. Welcome! You must know Bill Murchison, he is a friend of mine. I've got a couple greens fee passes for Towne Lake Hills that I'm planning on using soon.
  19. I'm glad somebody said it. Sometimes I just enjoy the grind. Practicing is a lot of fun for me, especially when I start seeing the results! When it's really hot and humid here, I like to get 9 in. Any other time, I'm all for a full 18 holes.
  20. I'm down to schedule a round, my best friend and I play often in Alpharetta area. You're a member at Sugarloaf?
