  1. You quoted ME?! Must be fake news FWIW I'm still using the grip!
  2. Nice round! Majestic Springs is one of my favorite local courses, I just wish it was a little more local.
  3. Date 08/23/2023 Course Name Pebble Creek Gross Score 73 Course Handicap 8 Gross Strokes over/under par 2 Net Score to Par -6 Net Score 65 Net Birdies or better 7 Longest Drive 259 I haven't been playing much lately, as guys in my regular group have had some issues. My nine hole league isn't enough to post here. I've been on a serious slump for the last two months, but I got looked at, and Steve fixed a setup issue (my shoulders were too level and open). After a couple of weeks of working with that, my scores are really coming back. Last night I decided, "What the hell!", and got up early and got out just before 7. Partly due to really soft greens, I tied my best ever score (73, 2 over), and it should have been a little better. There's hope yet!
  4. I'd be interested, but October is tough for me. The only possible date would be Saturday the 14th.
  5. I have serious doubts about whether I can play every week, so I should withdraw. Sorry.
  6. I'm still learning about wind, but let me pass along a story. My first real wind experience was on a vacation trip that included a round at the Ocean Course. For the front nine the wind was tame, and my poor score was solely the results of Pete Dye's wickedness. After the turn, the wind really picked up, 30+ gusts. We started downwind, and I flew the green on a 340 yd par 4 with a 3 wood (my average driver carry at the time was about 260). Coming back, 17 is a par 3 over water. I took what I thought was a conservative line, about 150 to clear the water, and hit a 3 iron (which should have gone 200+). I hit it well, and failed to clear the water. The guy with me then hit driver and cleared on a more agressive line by only a few yards.
  7. Allow me to suggest you name yourselves "Team Sinister". The word "sinister" is from latin, and means left-handed. It got the modern meaning from the old superstition that left handers were, well, sinister!
  8. I have the beginnings of cataracts, and anything white gets fuzzed out. White balls, white flags, and at a distance even white carts. On the other hand, I have no trouble (yet) seeing color, so it's yellow for me (at least until my eyes get to the point that insurance will cover surgery). The first or second MGS ball test did include a white and yellow version of the same ball (a Srixon, I believe). IIRC, they weren't identical, but close enough that I wouldn't have seen a difference.

Date 08/02/2023 Course Name Beckett Ridge Gross Score 80 Course Handicap 10 Gross Strokes over/under par 8 Net Score to Par -2 Net Score 70 Net Birdies or better 6 Longest Drive 264 Finally starting to improve again. I had a session with my instructor last week, and he made a small change to my setup that has made a world of difference.
  10. My bag has a set of 65g graphite shafted irons (M3), and 125g steel shafted wedges (TM MG). I've been having great difficulty with feel using the shorter irons (esp. PW), as they feel like twigs compared to the wedges. I've had some success by treating the PW as a 10 iron, and ignoring the "W" on the sole, but it's still a big difference between clubs. Yesterday my instructor said I could try backweighting the irons. (He has 20g under the grip of his short irons.) Does anyone have experience with this, good or bad? Any recommendations for the easiest way to experiment with different weights without burning through grips or lots of trips between home and the range? (I can blow off and reuse grips.) TIA!
  11. Date 07/11/2023 Course Name Lassing Pointe Gross Score 84 Course Handicap 11 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 73 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 234 Spoiled a "better than most" day by finishing with two doubles.
  12. My closest in some time, certainly this year. Lassing Pointe (Union, KY) #11, 188 yds slightly downhill into a good breeze, 5 hybrid. Of course I'm disappointed it didn't go in, but it was very satisfying in that it was my best swing of the day. A third of the way there my partner said, "I think that's going in!" Yes, I made the putt.
  13. Are you by any chance a member of the American Homebrewers Association? If so, you have access to the presentations from the national conference. I don't know if it's online yet, but look for the presentation from this year (last month) from Brett Kollman Baker. Brett is the COO of Urban Artifact, which is the largest fruit beer maker in the country. He gave a lot of very detailed info about using fruit. While they use mostly fresh fruit (over a million pounds per year), he uses puree a lot. He works with Boiron exclusively, and has helped develop some of their products. It's aseptic, so you don't have to worry about contamination. I know it's available from More Beer (including mango), and probably others as well. Speaking for myself, I avoid sorbate totally. (It is not taste free.) You just have to be patient and wait to be sure fermentation is done. This requires checking the gravity until it does not change for at least a week.

  15. BOA dials are warrantied by BOA for life. Go to their site and follow the links for replacement. They'll ask some questions and you have to take a picture to make sure you get the right model, but I've replaced three dials that way (one of them over 5 years old).
  16. Date 07/01/2023 Course Name The Mill Gross Score 81 Course Handicap 6 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 4 Net Score 75 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 261 I've been in a terrible slump this year, my index is up more than 5. The back nine today was my first net even nine this year. Maybe I'm turning the corner.
  17. We would all be in a happier place right now if the forests in Canada were pot fields.
  18. They gave you putting advice, and you want full swing advice as well? Sounds greedy to me.
  19. It was the least we could do! As the Rob who got to coast into a great trip on your work, I greatly look forward to the day we get to go on a trip together. Thank You!
  20. The starter on Saturday morning told us the marshals would be watching, and that they're all armed.
  21. Nope, I have three double eagles without an ace. It's painful!
  22. I wish you were here, Doug! Would have been great to see you.
