  1. Good Morning everyone! Well, it was morning a few hours ago; and a nice morning it was without the winds. Welcome to the forum @Billy The Kid Rogers and @shady 101!! Glad to have you aboard! I decided to head to the course; it was busy. Asked if I could get out for 9 holes walking, pro said at 11:37. So I practiced for an hour, then went to the tee at 11:15 (they don’t call people to the tee anymore). A foursome was about to tee off. As they were teeing off, two guys rolled up in a cart and I asked if they were the 11:27 time… Nope! 11:34… and they had a foursome. I called the clubhouse and the pro said the people at 11:27 canceled so I gave that spot to you. Wish he had told me that 90 minutes earlier!!! I’m not waiting on every shot of the group in front with another foursome behind me… on a busy day. So I left; at least I got some practice in. It seems the days of showing up at our muni and getting out as a single in the next two hours are gone! I was always able to squeeze in with a threesome. Now I guess I have to make a tee time for every day and cancel on days I decide not to play. Oh yeah… while unloading clubs from my car, a golf ball goes bouncing through the parking lot between me and the teaching pro as we were talking. Third ball (that I’ve seen) in the parking lot so far this year, and it’s the 12th ball that has come within 10 yards of me this year. Last year I was hit in the head while practicing on the putting green. I’m seriously thinking that I won’t be renewing my membership next year.
  2. Happy Birthday @LarryLondon, @golffun, @cheese57, and @Tkdblackbelt!! Hope you are all having a great day!
  3. Our course puts sand on the greens and the next day it is mostly all gone. Sand doesn't stay in the holes with 10-25 mph winds with higher gusts. You would think they'd look at the weather forecast before plugging!
  4. So, fast... slow? I'm hoping for 11-12 stimp.
  5. Just in time for Kingsmill greens. ... whatever they're like.
  6. Happy Birthday @fredsharky, @Procurvature, @PrismFlopper, @Matthewgvpa, and @Popeye!! Enjoy your birthday round of golf!!
  7. I used to pick up all balls that were in decent shape; some just to try out, but my bag was overwhelmed! I made the decision to only play Maxfli Tour S balls, and I like the feel of that ball off a club as well as the consistency of playing the same ball.
  8. Good Morning everyone! Wind has died down a little; should be a relatively nice day at mid-60's temps and wind only 10-20mph. It's ramping up for a warm weekend!! Yesterday my wife took me to the flower place; got a few tomatoes, peppers, and a few other veggies to plant in the garden... filled up her SUV!! I'm off to the dentist at 7am for cleaning, then yard work and some range time this afternoon. Planning to walk 9 holes tomorrow morning... maybe 18 depending on how I feel. Have a terrific Tuesday and stay safe in the stormy mid-section of the country. Hope you are OK @skraeling.
  9. Congratulations on the lower handicap!! I played a course in Green Valley when I was attending a meeting in Tucson; don't remember the name, but I remember liking the course a lot. Course had very similar conditions to courses here in the dry region of SE Washington State. Don't consider it a slump; it's a matter of learning how to play under different conditions again. It takes me a couple of weeks to get used to the different grass in Phoenix and Palm Springs when I go there in the winter. Unfortunately, I'm only there for a couple of weeks!! Even though courses are similar, we don't have bermuda grass.
  10. Thank you for this grip! I've used the DTX since it came out. I still have enough DTX grips to regrip a set of clubs, but last fall I opted for the Pure Pro, and changed out the grips. I like the Pure Pro and it's easier on my gloveless, aged hands; but I might switch back. Nice to be able to do that easily with air install.
  11. Club is still treated as conforming. You can use it with no penalty at Kingsmill.
  12. I was the same until a couple of years ago when Monte taught me bunker play. The sand doesn't bother me much anymore, except when it's so inconsistent between bunkers and sometimes within the same bunker (wind blows sand out in certain places). Actually, on a couple of our greens with certain pin placements, I would rather chance going for the pin and possibly end up in the bunker than play safe to the fat of the green because there is a high probability of 3-putting and chance of 4-putting (or putting off the green). Having confidence in sand shots is huge!
  13. All good training to be able to swing the Autoflex Dream 7 shaft.
  14. One knee replaced 10 years ago; other knee will be replaced in November. Too many years playing softball and volleyball.
  15. Our course has a shared green on the par 4 #1 and the par 3 #4. In the photo below #1 is in the distance and you can only see the front 1/4 of the green. In the foreground is the right half of the #4 green (other half is left of the bunker). A strip of green connects the two greens. A huge grass mound separates the left half of this #4 green and the rest of the #1 green There is no bunker in the middle of the green, but sometimes the grounds crew puts a Blue (back) flags on both greens; the flags get pretty close to each other and with the wind coming straight toward you from this vantage point, misses will end up on the other green. FYI, I have been in that bunker in the distance which is short and right of the #1 green. A bladed sand shot put me in the bunker here on #4.
  16. Since I know my course very well, I usually have a couple of sleeves of Maxfli Tour S with me. When I open the last sleeve, I add a new sleeve when I get home. If I'm playing a different course that I don't know very well, I'll add a sleeve. I only pick up "found" balls if they are in nice condition and are ones I know that friends play... PV1 and Callaway triple track.
  17. Happy Birthday!! So, your birthday is a week before mine. That make you "older" than I am. See you at Kingsmill and we will toast each other!!
  18. Yeah but... it wasn't the first rodeo for either of us!!
  19. I gave up the treadmill during my cardio rehab exercises; my knee just can't take it anymore. Today I used the recumbent cross trainer and hit 3.5 miles, 401 calories, averaging 7-7.5 mph for 28 minutes. Worked up quite a sweat. Today was speed and distance; the next session on Friday will be intervals - 3 minutes at a comfortable pace then fast pace for 1 minute. That's easier.
  20. Hope you have great weather! Bandon Dunes and Tetherow are beautiful and both are David McLay Kidd designs. Love them!
  21. Good Morning everyone!! Hope you have a memorable Monday. Rain all day yesterday has passed; now we only have wind... 20-30mph with gusts to 40+. No golf for me today! Off to my cardiac rehab in a few minutes and then mowing my lawn.
  22. I assume there are clubs there somewhere.
  23. Happy Birthday @Shrek74, @Chubbs1991, @BobBC78, @cciciora13, @Hank Stolz, @Nexy, @JonMUSC08, and @BTKruse. Have a great day! Sorry it comes on Monday this time!!
  24. I've been using Pure grips for more than 10 years. Love 'em. Sad to see them out of business. The Golf Pride grip that came with the AF Dream 7 shaft is about 10 grams lighter than the Pure Pro midsize. This is why the swingweight is C9 instead of D1-D2. I don't have an issue with this swingweight, but I may add weight to the head to compensate.
  25. That's a big difference in yardage!! On that miss on #3... there is water all down the left side of the fairway that also run in front of the green. I normally don't go left; generally a slight fade. The second shot is tough for me as it's all carry over the pond and a mishit into the water usually follows a poor tee shot like that. Flushed it onto the green!! After a par 3 #4, my next opportunity to hit driver is #5 par 5. I usually land the ball into an upslope that kills distance, so my latest miss on this hole is to swing out of my shoes to get past the upslope. That puts me around/in a group of trees; staring double in the face! I made a nice smooth swing and the ball went straight down the fairway, over the upslope area, and down the backside of the slope. I was on the NEXT upslope in the fairway... about 25 yards ahead of my usual shot. Now I have hit the ball to the same location with my stock Epic Max, but only with a tailwind. If anything, I had a slight headwind and still got to the green in 3 shots... very rare for me on this 525 yard hole into the typical 15-25mph wind.
