  1. Lovely! Just lovely, eh? How do you not know that the back door to the van is open??
  2. I haven't had a decent score in the last couple of weeks, generally mid 80's, when last year I was consistently in high 70's to low 80's. I am attributing it to the weather, and hoping it improves real soon. If it doesn't, then I guess I just suck! Early this week, I thought I found something. I was feeling really connected with all my full shot wedges; they were dialed in and distance was a little better than normal. Starting with the 9i and the longer clubs, it just didn't feel the same. I love the feeling of the wedges, but not the other clubs. Unfortunately, I really need those other clubs. It sucks to play par 4's as 4-shot holes to get there!!
  3. YES!! Love it! I went to the store after golf today and ended up bringing home a six pack of Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga' Substitute Ale. Although not a dark beer, I could be persuaded to drink this a lot! I would even say it's golfable, even though it's 8% ABV, as long as you don't overdo it. This ale would be very nice on a hot day.
  4. Sorry to hear that. 18 is a long time for cats. We have a neighborhood Siamese that has been coming to our door twice a day for handouts for the past 13 years. It belongs to the lady on the other corner, but that cat eats at several houses in the neighborhood. We don't have any indoor cats, but we inherited a mom and daughter cat from a few houses away when the old lady died a few years ago. Nobody else fed them and my wife is a cat person, so they came over and stuck around. The mother cat is really old; have no idea how old, but my wife thought she wouldn't make through the winter before this last one, but she is still here... deafer than a door nail. The daughter cat catches and eats squirrels. A few feral cats come by now and then for dinner, along with an occasional raccoon and skunk.
  5. I was reminiscing through some of my old photos, and had to put this one up. Some of you might recognize the course, especially if you live in northern California.
  6. I've had my share of beer on a school night... college, not H.S.!!
  7. Just like any other day? If you look that way, might as well be that way! Hope you get better real soon.
  8. I want to drink with you! Guinness is not my favorite. My local pub pulled the Iron Horse Irish Death and replaced it with another IPA, so they have nothing dark at the moment. Time to move on. Last night I cracked open a new bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel. Lovely.
  9. That's great!! I hope he didn't say no cigars or scotch.
  10. I hope some of you guys in Georgia will go to a Braves baseball game and report back on the beer they are selling at the stadium. Baseball bat shavings in the beer?? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-braves-new-ballpark-will-offer-a-beer-thats-been-brewed-with-baseball-bats/ With some help from the Terrapin Beer Company of Athens, Ga., SunTrust Park will be offering a brand-new "Chopsecutioner" beer which is aged atop wood from real Mizuno baseball bats. Sounds like a home run to me!!
  11. Lots of wind today; I am getting tired of it. It affects my swing tempo and generally my whole game. I don't score if I'm not putting well, and the wind makes that difficult. Shot 44/39 = 83. Nothing horrible, just a lot of "no up 'n downs". The good news is that I got a lot of sand practice in today.
  12. I needed a new bag, and then I got the email from Budget Golf yesterday. I just couldn't pass up this Wilson Staff Nexus bag for $50.
  13. A dead soldier... finished off my bottle of Rogue Dead Guy whiskey after my round today.
  14. My wife and I played this morning and were joined by a kid who is a freshman on the golf team at a Class A school near Seattle. His mom walked with him and said he is the best player on his team. Nice kid. Apparently, my course is holding the State playoffs next month, and he wanted to get a look at the course. I'm not sure if he liked my commentary about how to play the holes, but I gave it to him anyway. I think he shot around 80; I shot 83, just a string of bogeys. It was quite cold and the wind was blowing 20mph steady. We were also joined by a single 20-something that only started playing last year. I thought he was going to be in for a long day, but he played pretty well; former hockey player. I just wish he hadn't painted all of his clubs bright blue!! Spray painted head and shaft!! Every club in the bag! Gawd awful!
  15. Someone bought the whole pallet. Look for them on eBay.
  16. Our course opened up a little over a month ago. However, after DST started, leagues started late afternoon on Mon-Wed. Course is open in the evenings for play though on Thu-Fri during the week. I can play during the day since I am retired, but my wife is still working and can't get out to the course until 5:15pm. A beautiful night last night! Not so much tonight; winds 35mph with gusts to 50-60 until 8pm. Have a lot of fun!! Hope the round is a good start for the season.
  17. That storm is about to hit us right now. The big T-Storm went through at 5:30am this morning; wonderful light show with hail, but then it cleared up and is now sunny. It's supposed to get to near 70* today, but those winds of sustained 35mph with gust to 50-60 starting in about an hour. I'm not going out!!!
  18. I like the club carrier! My wife is looking but not sure what to get. How do the clubs fit in the back?
  19. First 9-hole round for my wife and I this year after she got off work. Very nice afternoon; 65* and sunny. Didn't even keep score, just hit shots and enjoyed the evening. #18 par 5 dogleg left with bunker and water on the right after the dogleg from 170 to the green.
  20. Whiskey after playing tonight Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. Stay safe! All you folks down south... advice I have heard many times on the golf course: Keep you gawd d@mn head down!
  22. Spring is here in the northwest with highs in the upper 60's for the next 10 days. Lots of golf this month!
  23. Sorry to hear that. I hope he's feeling better soon. Both my parents had strokes 2 years ago, and had to sell their ti-level house on acreage in the country and move into town to an assisted living apartment. I am wondering if I am looking into a mirror and seeing my future in 20 years.
