  1. Sorry to hear that. I hope he's feeling better soon. Both my parents had strokes 2 years ago, and had to sell their ti-level house on acreage in the country and move into town to an assisted living apartment. I am wondering if I am looking into a mirror and seeing my future in 20 years.
  2. Which is what I thought I would be on the next shot!
  3. I'm assuming from your question that you didn't. Not sure I could either.
  4. I went out to the course later than usual, missed my guys tee off in the am. I was paired up with a older twosome and a young single. All three were playing from the Whites, so I moved up to play the same tees. During the introductions, I thought I recognized one of the older two guys. He didn't recognize me, but when we traded last names... we worked together 40 years ago!!! Hadn't seen him since.
  5. It was a beautiful sunny 61 degree day today except for the 20-25 mph winds with gusts to 35. My tempo sucks in the wind! Didn't used to, but it does now. Shot a blistering 85. The good news is that my new Cleveland belly putter cut to 32" is still working. I just need to give it some better chances.
  6. A couple of shots of Dead Guy Whiskey while watching Lexi play #18... then a couple more when she didn't win. What a way to lose.
  7. Did you have coffee and Biegnets at Cafe du Monde? I love that place!!
  8. I was watching Claire this morning while drinking coffee and Baileys in bed with my wife. I told her that i thought she was from that part of Georgia where OG tees it up. Not sure why I remember that.
  9. At least you are out playing! That's how I felt after the snow melted.
  10. If you have the opportunity, I hope you can play Palmetto GC in Aiken, SC. Very nice private club not far from Augusta that was built in 1892; gorgeous clubhouse. It was a favorite course of Ben Hogan. I worked with a member, and got to play it about 15 years ago. Lovely.
  11. Today is April 1. It's the anniversary of my marriage proposal to my wife (a date I can remember ). On April 2 my wife asked me if I really meant it!! So today we drove back from visiting my mom on her 88th birthday, and we got home by 3pm. We have to play golf! It's what we do. It's 68*, a little overcast, and no wind. We get to the course and we had forgotten both my GPS and my wife's laser. Oh No! Oh well, let's play the old fashioned way, says I. I rarely play well after a long trip (5 hours driving), but I hit the ball OK, not great but OK. A couple of birdies, a couple of sandy pars, my usual bogeys, and only one double bogey later, I had a nice 79. I also used a different putter. I had picked up a new Cleveland Signature Series Belly Putter that was 41" long, and I cut it down to 32". I then added 100 grams of weight under the grip for counterbalance. It's an interesting feel, and certainly different than my Boccieri Heavy Putter but I did make some putts. I think I will keep playing it for awhile.
  12. Check out MG Golf gloves. Nice leather and only $6-7 and they have lefties. I don't wear a glove, but I bought a couple to have when I play in hot, humid weather. They have other good deals too.
  13. The hop capital of Washington State is halfway between me and Yakima, about 40 miles away. It's probably why so many micros are popping up all over the Northwest!
  14. There are no good shows on anymore. Writers are not creative and actors are well, not very good.
  15. You've been hacked!! Check your bank account quick!
  16. I took it for a test drive at Demo Days last Saturday and I thought it was fine. Of course we were hitting range balls. I'm not fond of loud drivers, but I'd play the Triton.
  17. I saw a reference to an MGS club review that I was interested in getting. Enjoyed the read, and stuck around. There are so many nice folks here, and it seems like we have similar tastes. I wish may of you lived closer, and we could get together for a round of golf and a round afterwards.
  18. "Sh!tter's full!" Well, now I have to call RotoRooter.
  19. Day 2 of the tournament at the sister course of my club. Still lots of people crossing over to fill up the course. We got off a little earlier and the round only took a little over 4 hours to play instead of the 5.5 hours on Saturday. I was off to a good start with +3 on the front, but two doubles on the back killed the round; shot 82. To quote a former PGA star... "I'm close!"
  20. I finally opened that bottle of Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout last night. If you like coffee and ale, well...
  21. The sister course to my club is having a big 2-day tourney this weekend, so it's closed to members not in the tourney. Being a member at each club gets you 1/2 off green fees at the other, so today there were a bunch of them playing at my course. We couldn't get a tee time until 12:30 and it was slooooow; 5.5 hour round. My wife and I played with another couple and we waited on every shot. I've played with the guy before in my weekday walk with the guys, but my wife had never met him and it was the first time that we had met his wife. He is about a 5 hcp and has only been playing for 6 years; his wife just started playing last year. He was a parachute instructor for 8 years for the Army Golden Knights and a world sky diving champion for the USA. I'm impressed!! We had a lot of fun, except for the slow play. Before we played, my wife and I went to our local golf store for demo days. I didn't really want to try anything, because I really don't want to buy anything right now. But I did stop at the Wilson tent. I really liked the Wilson D300 hybrids, and then the rep gave me the D300 driver. That driver is very light, but I found it easy to control which is odd for me as I like a heavier club. I also tried the Triton and it felt good too, but the D300 was just stupid straight and a much higher launch for me, which I can use. I didn't buy it, but it's on a list... maybe one day. However, I made a bunch of good swings at demo days, but paid for them by crapping out by my 9th hole of the day. I struggled home with an 84 that included 3 doubles. Made some nice putts though, so I've got that going for me... which is nice.
  22. Congratulations on the win!! Did you have more than one??
  23. It's some kind of disease that's going around. I had it on Wednesday. I was walking with the guys, and quit after #11 (because the green was near the parking lot and my car). I just couldn't see grooving mistakes for 7 more holes.
  24. Must be tough afternoon. South Bay Green Ale followed by Ithaca Flower Power 18 minutes later, then Greenport Harbor Pith n Peel IPA... all before noon?? Need some help?
  25. Yes, that article seems to keep resurfacing periodically. "Let's do the Time Warp again!"
