  1. Don't know how the parents and yourself are carrying on .. I think I would've quite literally melted down and become non-functional .. my sincere sympathies........
  2. I think I get what you're saying. I have a SkyTrak (which for no good reason gets very little use) and it sits in front of where you stand .. not behind on the target line like many others .. so I got used to lining up parallel to it. In fact put a piece of round driveway marker in the slot in the metal case for a visual aid. Maybe alignment sticks (or draw lines) on your hitting mat at home that are parallel with the LM target line..?
  3. That's curious (not that mine is so great either indoors or outdoors) .. any ideas on how/which way you were off and why?
  4. Really looking at reduced taper grips but this one may be worth a test. Thx!
  5. Yes - that has really helped me out, too! Easy to put in a few reps and the constant reinforcement is beneficial. Of course I still suck .. but nice the read of your progress!!
  6. Got out for 9 at a new to me course - really nice layout set into some wetlands and woods. Started out ok .. a kind of surprising "easy" par on the first then two good (for me) bogeys. Then #4 .. I dunno... Tee -> slice -> splash. Drop -> chunked. Attempted shot on green -> fluffed, splash. Drop -> barely made it onto the front of the green. Just to make the pain complete? 3 putt... This is the view from the back tees on a Par 3 - 200 from the Blacks, yes basically all carry! Fortunately the Gold and Red were waaay further up, with a clean shot .. no water .. and only about 120 into the wind for me. But yeah still came up short, on the front fringe... Here's another short Par 4 where yep this guy drove it straight down the middle and through the fairway into the rough at the end! (..thank you firm and fast fairway ) And, well, after this things fell apart... Managed a bogey on the next Par 3 .. almost had a miraculous up & down after a terrible awful horrible nasty bad not good attempt at a tee shot. #8 and #9 went double, triple....... Hey guys, did I mention this last time? Work. In. Progress.
  7. Good Morning all and yikes .. I am 7 pages behind here!! Hope everyone has been doing well! Sitting here with my honey looking at the ocean .. no not a surf day, just out for a walk. Maybe a little golf later - overcast, cool and a little breezy but hey it's an outdoor sport! Well hope everyone who's working has a literally easy day and hope everyone who's not working has a fun day
  8. Gee Mister, I don't understand... He had to choose??? He couldn't have both at the same time
  9. Bingo! To be brutally honest, I would never ever never (and my mother told me to never say never ) order one without being able to test it first. (Sorry, Sam) The website seems completely devoid* of guidance on model selection. *Except - "automatic", "semi-automatic"... Another Bingo! The choice here should not be pot luck, throw a dart without looking. This question perfectly dovetails into the first - for Player A once you've detected THEIR best head shape .. then, what is THEIR best grip choice based on their particular setup, hand placement, stroke, whatever.... Thx
  10. If we're taking about the Cobra Forged Tecs...... Last season did my own tests of several different GI irons, and also the Forged Tec X .. one of my earlier tests. As a higher handicapper I had it in my head that I needed a true GI iron, vs these are categorized closer to PD (MPF scale), but I loved the look the feel the sound off the face the feedback they give the ball flight I got... Heck maybe I will pick up a set when they go on sale!
  11. Have been intrigued by this ball since it came out; of the MOI claims are even partly true it could possibly benefit my game. And yeah their marketing with Manolo and his Maniacs is, well, different and actually kind of entertaining imho....
  12. No not as hard core as you guys, but gotta tell you some up this morning feeling .. well .. pretty ok! The light but steady exercise, plus chiro acu walking other aerobic light weights stretchy bands yoga good old situps and pushups etc, seems to be working for this old dude.
  13. Wow that sounds like a very specific, very hard to find item... I'm sure you've been searching online. Good luck!
  14. . . . ..still lol lmao Gonna try to drop that one in on @cnosil at the Kingsmill Outing!!!! ... On the serious side, gonna spend more time on 20 footers .. based on my last few rounds the *average* first putt distance is a little over 20 (though obviously very few are actually -at- 20).
  15. Hai! Sensei I totally agree with you. Think of the rope drill - the old pros could snap a line and whack golf balls with it... For us, I believe that .. the closer we get to keeping the club working on-plane and the closer we get to keeping an even smooth tempo throughout the swing .. the more success we can have with an O-P shaft... ...ommm ....
  16. dammm sorry to hear about all those hassles.... Well on the flip Sir Chunks wins - in a very big way! - this week's Monday Blues Award!!!
  17. Not liking my first pair of BOA shoes and gonna take Tom's advice on the next pair...
  18. Just tried this out .. very uncomfortable for me... But I'll keep testing it at home from time to time, see if there's any improvement / noticeable change in stroke for me.
  19. Got out for 9 yesterday; temps dropped a bit and wind picked up a bit in the afternoon but hey it was still a good day to be out on a golf course! Played ok-ish, i.e. g-o-l-f ... Good: Wedges - chips and pitches onto greens were all ok - avg first putt distance over past 3 x 9 hole rounds about 22 ft. Really good (at the risk of jinxing myself ): Putting - just felt comfortable with it .. 15 putts! .. prior two rounds were 16 and 17 - no 3-putts this round and just one in the last 27 holes (.. no jinx no jinx no jinx ...) Short Game - one nice up & down from a tricky lie pin-high / left off the green, about 30 yds from the flag Not so good: Tee shots - maybe I'm starting to get a little too aggressive and am trying too hard .. had a few go off to the right and so had to punch out... - Par 3s still continue to confound me; cannot stop screwing these up... Really not so good: Second shots - this is where I'm making the most mistakes and not sure why. Irons and hybrids on the range are starting to get much more solid, and it's occasionally transferring onto the course .. but only occasionally... - Maybe time for another lesson! And, well, bad: Once again sent a ball into each of the two ridiculously small water hazards on this 9 hole stretch .. one for a double on the short Par 3 (re-tee'ed, didn't drop by the hazard) and one for a triple (ouch) on the last hole... Overall +13/48 Work. In. Progress.
  20. Depending on how much time you have and how far you're willing to drive, you can find nice courses outside of the greater Boston area (that "should", quote-unquote, have tee times at this time of year..?)
  21. Had to double check - still have the original stickers on my gamer that came with the unit a few years ago! This putter is all satin finish; the other one I use is all black. I think, or I guess .. stickers, or tape, could only help the unit distinguish the corners of the putter..? Also have indirect, overhead lighting (still incandescent floods in the basement). And my cam is at the higher end of the suggested range given the distance from it to the front of the mat. Have not seen the newer version .. though would guess, again, the startup is similar in that it need to find the mat before you can proceed... That part also gives you a chance to test cam positions and view on-screen how the mat is "seen" by the unit. Oh, also - does the newer unit also give you an audible prompt when it "sees" a ball (meaning it's ready to measure)..?
  22. Not that actually is Chris .. "they" really are young and shapely like that. The Chris you see on the vid chat is his online alter ego persona. ... hahaha lol... But on the serious side looking forward to hearing more about your experience with the ExPutt .. and where you think it helps you the most. For me, even with all the other features, I also end up most of the time in Practice mode working on 20-50 footers.
  23. Good Morning, Friends!! Boy one day and 5 pages behind here... You guys are just too friendly and chatty Have to catch up later; off to Chiro and a few quick errands. Hope everyone had a fun and enjoyable weekend! And any parents who may have school kids off this week for break - good luck .. my cousin with 3 young ones put into our cousins' group text, 'hey anyone wants to take them out somewhere please do' Have a great day everyone!!! Oh, PS: @fixyurdivot wife and I watched "Mending The Line" last night (on Netflix) .. really well done movie, great story and if you haven't seen it - revolves around fly fishing in Montana.
  24. Thx, and .. unfortunately .. the Tour Velvet, while advertised as the world's most popular grip, is prob my least favorite group texture... (hey everyone has their quirks )
  25. Wow that's not something you'd ever expect to loosen! Did you check all the others, including the one for the shaft? Also maybe back out those screws again, clean off the threads and the inserts, and apply your own thread lock?
