  1. Not being a numbers guy the video definitely wouldn't be catered towards you. Just saying. The question many people ask in bays and all around the globe is how far they should be hitting their 7 given their swing speed. This happens because 7 irons are often the test clubs. This video helps give them a simple answer. Swing speed times 1.9. That is a good optimal length for ones 7 iron. If they are way short of that number they then have a goal of how far they can hit an optimized 7 iron. Again it isn't about gapping, gapping would follow after they get the 7 iron in line. You have a set that works for you great, does your swing speed times 1.9 match the 7 iron distance? If yes, great you are adding to the theory he has. If not, maybe you are leaving something on the table with launch, spin or something else. It is up to you whether you want to try to optimize that further or not. If you are happy with where you are great, but then the whole video isn't meant for you as you are happy with your set and configuration. Bottom line many many aren't as happy with their setups, many have these questions and find these simple things like swing speed times 1.9 = optimal distance extremely beneficial when testing new equipment or trying to get the most out of their game.
  2. That is all determined by the OEM. However 4 is our magic number. More than 4 the 5+ reviews don't get the same attention and therefore we recommend to the companies 4 testers. Where we had 220+ testers last year I would expect that number to be closer to 180. There is room for us to trim and not get on this again, but enough less than okay reviews that we feel it's better to cut back a little to get better reviews and reward those who participate and do good reviews vs just getting tests for the sake of getting tests.
  3. You are right, you did miss the point of the video. That's okay though. It is not a iron gapping video. This question is widely asked and a topic for many golfers which is why it was produced and why this thread has a good number of comments on it.
  4. We will be announcing our additional two new testers in the new year. Mevo reviews will be wrapping up in the next 10 days and then the fun will begin on the Mevo+!
  5. Interesting review. Appreciate your honesty overall and does show that not all clubs will fit or suit all golfers as we expect. I find the comparison tough and while I understand the claims of lower flight and more forgiveness I wouldn't have expected them to be more forgiving considering the fitting you had with your edels. Seems like they were a perfect fit going in, so anything other than a in person fitting would have been extremely tough to beat. I know you touched on the sole, but that is where I am more interested in all the different lies and areas on how that just performed. This seems to be a key or focal point of these wedges versus some of the other claims (imo). I know my pings are way better out of bunkers than the mizunos, but the mizunos perform better on thicker rough. The technology in them is very different as are the grinds, which kinda makes it tricky to compare as they are different clubs. Almost like comparing a GI to a Blade - different claims, different lofts, different ways or methods of achieving levels of performance. While they didn't perform perfectly for you they didn't seem to be terrible given the way they were fit via the online system. Appreciate you passing them along to another tester and seeing how they perform for them!
  6. That is interesting... I have seen putters similar. Will circle back to this one for sure. Axiom I will say is very unlikely. Shafts (irons) are a tricky one because of the cost to the tester. However never say never! The PLM space is one we are always interested in and will continue to look at and see what we can do.
  7. We are well into building our calendar, however that doesn't mean we don't want input from you the membership! Of course we won't divulge what we already have lined up, or if what you are requesting is already on the calendar. That being said we are still wanting to see what we can do for our membership and try to get the products you are all most interested in! Fire away!
  8. Could be. Longer is going to change the lie angle and potential strike location. If during setup you are finding the club to be more upright then it could cause the a more draw bias shape. As for roll out, tough to say without flight data. Did you notice a lower ball flight? Were you able to capture swing speed or anything else?
  9. Fantastic review! Truly! Not something I think I would have ever considered purchasing, but nice to know about and see where the value lies and where it doesn't! Again big thank you!
  10. Very nice! I can't wait to get back on the range and find the time to play as well as test the new Rapsodo features.
  11. Mixed reviews. May very well depend on the stroller you have if it is functional.
  12. Newton Shaft is on its way along with a few other toys coming! Going to have some fun testing and building clubs here!
  13. We will be live rocking and rolling! May need to keep it to an hour do we can finish off some meetings TBD tho
  14. While not step by step, that information is there. We give dates and timelines for introduction (due one week after selections), unboxing post (due within a week of getting the product), then minimum one post or summary per week. While we encourage more. Then we give at least a 2-3 week lead time for when the review is due. We are updating the template a bit to provide some examples of standout reviews, post minimum for testing period and more. One thing I always remember was how motivated I was for my first opportunity. I put hours and hours into writing, doing data collection, updates, photos, working to get conversations going in the thread and the final review itself. That was without hand holding and or being babysat throughout. As a staff member I expect at least 50% of that effort. With so many testers and reviews I don't want to get into the habit of babysitting testers through reviews. We are here to help, aid and assist when testers need it. The PM is there for support for all testers between tester and staff. Plus we nearly always have one more experienced member involved. Again there are updates to the template to help a bit more, but that also assumed testers actually read the full thing which often doesnt happen. Maybe I need a trick question at the end? Haha I guess what I'm trying to say is in the feedback form we sent to many of the testers the template and guidelines never came up as an issue and we still worked a bit to improve it. I am confident in it and the staffs ability to help or answer questions testers have. Add in the number of testers and tests we have all with all the other priorities babysitting reviews isn't one I really want to do as there should be adequate motivation there to provide excellent reviews.
  15. Good question! It's been asked before, but always worth repeating. If a tester wants to know their grade and feedback all they need to do is ask. We won't make them publicly available to all, but an individual tester can always ask for their own review grades.
  16. https://mygolfspy.com/we-tried-it/forum-member-review-birdieball-2-in-1-golf-mat/ Another one up and done!
  17. The staff have a lot of discussion on all of this. There are some that do a very underwhelming review and then say things along the lines of well it's a small product. In the eyes of the forum staff there is no such thing as a small product. Each product is important to the company providing it and often the smaller ones are the ones that readers are more interesting in trying. Sure the big ticket tests are great, but not nearly as many are going to be buying these products. Our expectations for all reviews are high and mailing it in or just putting half effort into a smaller item tells us a lot about what kind of tester we can expect. Same goes for the opposite side... Rock a ball review and you can expect us to be calling on you again soon. The flip side, don't expect anything anytime soon. Our forum reviews with these recaps get more exposure then they ever have before. The companies notice, members, staff, hq and more. Not only that we communicate deadlines to the OEMs. When a tester misses that (unexcused) it's noticeable. I could go on, but the staff expect a lot and we are working hard to help improve the short comings on engagement to promote them throughout the process. The recaps have been fantastic and all the companies we have done them for have loved them.
  18. Great to have you as a tester! So many cool opportunities this last year, so many great testers and reviews. Was a fun season!
  19. Nice spreadsheet! My bag changes too often to put that effort into it. I usually just post a slew of photos instead. However I definitely see the benefit of what you are doing!
  20. The other factor is the sound inside vs outside. I am pretty sure it was the Rogue but I made one hit with it and that was it put it away and never once thought about hitting it again. While the Ping G425 was a really good driver the sound was big and offputting. Even though performance was solid it made it much easier to move onto the Paradym that has a very muted sound.

  22. I should also mention by ditching arccos last year I am looking forward to seeing what new shot tracking system I should dive into next season. There will be something, just not sure what as of yet!
  23. I bowed out of the core discussion a while ago. I have my own thoughts and views, however still feel that it is truly way too early. Lots can change, lots can be adapted and even more can be developed over the next while before this actually happens. Plus I just can't be bothered to get worked up over this. Golf is too much fun and the enjoyment of playing different courses, with different people is the main reason why I golf. The challenge will always be there regardless of the ball I am using.
  24. Haven't really played much Bridgestone on the past, but will still be interested in these reviews! Great job so far!
